Some good nominees despite a massive gender gap, but too rushed

Warning: Spoilers
As you can see from the title, what we have here is not the Emmy ceremony from the year 2014, but the nominations announcement. This happened very early in the morning back then and went for six minutes approximately. They showed it live on some morning show. Because it was this short, I wondered initially if it was a two-part thingey and that was just one part, but I think not. If I am wrong, feel free to correct me and send a me a link to the first half. I think it is all in these short six minutes though. Kinda fitting that the two presenters spoke so fast really and that hurt the entire thing for me, pretty much broke it and results in me not giving it a positive recommendation overall. It starts and ends with the offical guy, but in-between it is all about actress Mindy Kaling and host Carson Daly, who both have their history with the Emmys too. Already did back in 2014. Which is now almost 10 years ago. How time flies. Anyway, Daly also gets to be happy briefly about his own show scoring a nomination. I did not mind him presenting the category himself. I mean we do not have to fear a Marisa Tomei moment here or something. The crowd in the room there, mostly photographers I think were really quiet.

I do not want to go into detail about all the nominees here, but one thing that came to my mind was really that the performances from the male nominees were much, much better than the females. No sexism, just facts. I'd have happily admited it too if it had been the other way around. There are exceptions like Cumberbatch, but you get Cranston, Hamm, Thornton, Spacey, Harrelson, McConaughey and others. I think this elusive group is just self-explanatory. And when you see the likes of Louis-Dreyfus on the other end of the scale, then it is fairly self-explanatory indeed. Not the best year for women in television. And a sublime year for men. That much is safe. Of course, there are exceptions nonetheless in terms of actresses really delivering, but they were rather rare. Oh and I just mentioned Spacey, so this was obviously before he was ousted by the industry. Still feel bad for him. Such a talented performer. Louis C. K. on the other hand somehow managed to save his career. He performed here in Berlin just days ago. He was also nominated here, just like his show. I wonder if the show is officially over by now or if it finds some delayed continuation à la Curb Your Enthusiasm. I think he is genuinely talented too. So this is all then. You can watch this presentation I guess if you really like Daly and/or Kaling, but if you decide against going for it, that is perfectly valid too and you are surely not missing much. Overall, I am glad it was this short and give it a thumbs-down. Or actually I am not glad because had they given the duo at least ten minutes, then this would have been a less hectic and consequently better, maybe recommendable watch.
