Early online versions of this short featured the working title "Not What You Think". This was later corrected to the final title "Property of Ezra Bridger".
Last of four preview shorts that introduce the Rebels characters before the series premiere. This short introduces Ezra Bridger.
The cone shaped stone mountains of Lothal are based on early concept designs by Ralph McQuarrie for a grassland planet called Sicemon, designed for Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983). They were also supposed to be featured in an unfinished "Crystal Crisis on Utapau" story arc from Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008) as part of the Utapau landscape and the digitally created assets were reused for the first season of Rebels.
This story was adapted into the final chapter of Ryder Windham Star Wars Rebels tie-in novel "Ezra's Gamble" (2014), which takes place before the start of the series. In the book, Ezra has an adventure with Bossk the bounty hunter (who is pictured with Ezra on the front cover, combining art of Rebels with Bossk as seen in Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008)). After they part ways, Ezra heads back to his tower and spots the TIE Fighter coming down.
