BAFTA-nominated director Hong Khaou (Lilting) is newly attached to direct drama Trade, written by Garage and Adam & Paul screenwriter Mark O’Halloran.
Dublin-based Roads Entertainment (Being AP) is producing Trade, about a young man searching for stability in the wake of his father’s death.
Shoot is due to get underway later this year on the project, adapted from O’Halloran’s play of the same name. Development was supported by the Irish Film Board (Ifb) and Roads’ facility Portico Development Fund.
Khaou’s 2014 debut Lilting, starring Ben Whishaw, debuted at Sundance and played at a number of international festivals before being released in the UK by Artificial Eye.

The Toronto International Film Festival’s prominence on the festival circuit has only grown over the years, with films from numerous different fields having gone on to critical and commercial acclaim. Among the festival’s different categories are Tiff Docs and Vanguard. Tiff Docs allows documentaries to get their own spotlight at the festival, giving acclaimed documentarians such as Michael Moore and Frederick Wiseman a platform for their films. The Vanguard section, on the other hand, showcases films that aren’t easily categorisable into a specific genre. With the Canadian Films lineup announcement having revealed the first set of films playing in each group, Tiff today revealed more of the lineup in each section. Entertainment One (eOne) has picked up the untitled AP McCoy documentary from Moneyglass Films for UK and Ireland with plans to release the film theatrically later this year.
Directed by Bafta-winner Anthony Wonke (The Tower: A Tale of Two Cities), the all-access documentary - previously known as Being AP - follows the story of 20-time champion jockey AP ‘Tony’ McCoy through his final season.
