Even worse than it seems
grantss27 December 2021
Looks B-grade and is actually even worse than that. Senseless plot, amateurish direction, mega-hammy acting, poor production values. Nothing good about this.

Avoid at all costs.

A cheap cash in on the GTA game franchise...
paul_haakonsen6 June 2017
Granted that given the synopsis for the movie and the whole concept, then I already knew that this movie was going to be bad. But still I gave it a chance, on the off chance that it was one of those bad movies that are so cheesy that they are still fun and entertaining to watch.

"Grand Auto Theft: LA" wasn't one of those types of movies...

I managed to sit through just a bit more than 30 minutes of the ordeal that is "Grand Auto Theft: LA". Then I simply had enough of it, as it was not an ounce entertaining to me.

The storyline in "Grand Auto Theft: LA" was shoddy and sort of non-existing. From what I managed to sit through it felt more like a series of random scenes cut and edited together.

I was laughing so hard at the horribly CGI animation in the game that the girls were playing in the hideout on the console. It looked like something from the early 1990s.

While we are on the topic of CGI, then it should be stated that the CGI in "Grand Auto Theft: LA" is just plain and simply put atrocious. The blood effects were just so poorly made that it makes you laugh. And the scene where a man is ripped apart by moving vehicles is so laughable it has to be witnessed to be believed, because that was some of the worst CGI I have seen in a long, long time.

"Grand Auto Theft: LA" is also full of continuity errors. There was one hilarious shooting scene where a car side window is shattered, then in the next shot it is back again but only has a small bullet hole. Seriously? These kind of mistakes are so lousy and so unprofessional.

The music score for the movie was not in my taste either, and it was more of a nuisance than it was suitable for the movie and the style of the movie.

The acting in the movie was actually fair enough, especially taking into consideration the lack of proper script and a proper storyline. So the people were doing good jobs with the limitations imposed on them.

"Grand Auto Theft: LA" contains some very laughable and ridiculous screen wipe sequences that were constantly showing as the movie pass from one scene to another, and it contains some laughable Graphics of the movie title. This just made the movie seem like an even more low budget movie than it actually was.

I can in all honesty say that I will not attempt a second viewing of this to get past the 30-something marker that I managed to endure. This movie was not worth my time or effort, and most definitely not worth my money.

Warning: Spoilers
With movies named Rat Scratch Fever, Frankenstein in a Women' Prison and Giantess Attack, Jeff Leroy knows that some of the battle is fought when you name your movie.

Also known as Grand Auto Theft: L. A. - a title that is pretty good you know? - this takes a Mad Max-style name to tell the story of the Calles de Infierno neighborhood in L. A., a place where a gang of women is trying to get rich or die trying. But to get there, they have to fight other gangs, the cops, a vigilante and even one another.

Vixen, Sarita, Kandy, Electra and Katie sell drugs, sure, but their drugs don't kill people. So they decide to kill - well, Vixen decides to - kill Kane, the dealer behind it, only to learn that he has another boss Andre. But the real boss selling this Death Meth is The Phantom. Or The Shadow. Who knows, the movie bounces around a lot and has cut scenes to look like, yes, a video game.

Also: a band called the Reach Around Rodeo Clowns have two songs in this and they play more than once. It is rockabilly. In a movie about street gangs.

Jeff Leroy also knows that you need a nice looking piece of art. He did that twice, once for each title.

Women, drugs and violence all sell. This movie is proof yet again.

How can anyone give this movie even 1 star. It's that crap
robbieadams196925 January 2022
Low grade B movies at least have some sort of appeal. This one? Lol.... Not even that. Looks like it was filmed using an iPhone from 2008.

Not a single women in this 'movie' is actually good looking. The fake blood is comical though.

Only watch this movie if you are certified blind and deaf.

GAT - not a road
kosmasp25 May 2022
Furious road - if you google that title, you get quite a few Mad Max results. Well let's just say this is not something that helps the case of this movie. I guess one connection would be, that both movies have women in the main roles - trying to get what they think is theirs to have. Of course there is more to it in Mad Max - but who am I to judge? Well I guess I am one of the reviewers so there is that.

Both also do not have nudity in them - though not sure if people would rather expect it here. I reckon people would expect it here ... for better or worse. One of the things that kind of works here and that you also expect: the gun play. I say kind of, because you have to take into account that this is low budget. Doesn't change anything when it comes to inconsistencies concerning targetting ... it's like not hitting something right in front of you.

Suspension of disbelief and all that. The women are beautiful if that helps - not helping when it comes to their lack of acting talent, but that can be adorable to a degree too. Or just another low budget thing you'd expect this to have.

Fabulous

Ignore the trashy reviews from folk who want you to think they have a cinematic heritage. This film is great. Weak script, yes, ham acting, yes, really hot chicks who can't act, yes. Despite all that, better than so many multi million dollar films by a country mile, including the overrated "Marvel" stuff. I loved it and will watch again and probably again after that. It's all it promises to be and nothing more.

Wild crazy and out of control
nogodnomasters16 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Five women lead by Vixen (Mahogany Zachary) kill drug dealer Kane and take over his territory. They like to drive and steal Mustangs and leave body parts all over town. Kane's gang plans revenge. Kandy, who works for Vixen has a brother in the rival group who loves Vixen. The girls sell good dope while the other gang deals "Death Meth" so by default they are the bad drug dealers.

The video game is used for the opening credits and is played during the film. The plot was rather simple and the acting and dialogue lacked humor or memorable lines. There were heads being crushed and blown off "Troma style." Ron Jeremy had a small part. This grindhouse adventure was not as grand as the title suggests. Soft 3 stars.

Guide: F-word, rape. No nudity,
