Enjoyable

Warning: Spoilers
Generational and cultural clashes abound in this entertaining film.

In particular, I enjoyed the interaction between Sarah and Pitt in the Christian bookstore. And what was also nice was how not everything was happily rounded out at the end. Was Sarah to continue with her academic pursuits? How was the newly re-formatted bookstore going to turn out?

The characters are at odds with each other, which made for both humour and sadness. And sometimes they find a meeting of the minds - but other times things just don't quite mesh - much like real life.

One feels the exasperation of Sarah in her daily struggles with a variant of personalities. It's a tour of the various New York communities.

A visitor to a strange land ..........

Nana Menshah is a triple crown winner in this quiet film that has both comedy and humanity. She invites us along on her journey, no matter how personal or surprising it is to everyone. Herself included.

She has populated her world with people we have possibly all seen and heard, but probably have never known, or were afraid to get to know - which was definitely our loss. She did it in a way that we are all familiar with - the death of a loved one and having to deal with the relatives and friends and expectations that we are not only not aware of, but have little understanding of.

Nana Mensah has broadened my world, and I thank her for it. I cannot leave Meeko (Pitt!!) out. Can't help but think that he is as good a man off the screen as he is on it and I am so glad he was introduced to both Sarah and me.

THANK YOU, Nana Mensah for this lovely film that touched my heart and my soul. (From an old Wonder Bread white lady in The Ozarks.)

A little gem of a film!

This is what indie flicks are all about. Movies made on a limited budget but featuring fine acting, writing, and cinematography. I just love movies like this. Nana Mensah wrote starred and directed this fine film. Watch out for great things for her in the very near future, if this is any indication of what she's capable of.

In the film, a young research scientist is having an affair with a fellow scientist. He's married with a couple of children, which is a bit problematic. They both live in NYC, but supposedly are going to move to Ohio.

Then her mother dies and she has to deal with all the funeral arrangements. Her father moves back to the States from Ghana and becomes a real pain in the neck. Interspersed within the movie are numerous scenes depicting Ghanain dancing and celebrating. They effectively combine with present day New York to give a sense of who she is and help define her.

It's a happy, fun, slice-of-life movie that I found very enjoyable. I hope you like it as much as I did.
