A24’s first harrowing trailer for Warfare puts viewers into the claustrophobic confines of a battle that took place in 2006 in Iraq. The action’s based on the memories of soldiers who survived the bloody engagement.
Alex Garland co-wrote and co-directed Warfare with ex-Navy Seal Ray Mendoza, who served as the military supervisor on Garland’s Civil War. Per A24, the gritty war drama “embeds audiences with a platoon of American Navy SEALs in the home of an Iraqi family, overwatching the movement of US forces through insurgent territory. A visceral, boots-on-the-ground story of modern warfare, told like never before: in real-time and based on the memory of the people who lived it.”
D’Pharaoh Woon-a-Tai, Will Poulter, Cosmo Jarvis, Kit Connor, Finn Bennett, and Taylor John Smith star. The cast also includes Michael Gandolfini, Adain Bradley, Noah Centineo, Evan Holtzman, Henrique Zaga, Joseph Quinn, and Charles Melton.

War movies have been a staple of Hollywood cinema almost since movies were invented. The war movie genre covers everything from historical conflicts and those in the present day, to even sci-fi imaginings of wars to come. Though the genre is perhaps most often associated with historical conflicts like World War II, World War I, and the Vietnam War, war movies that depict more recent conflicts, such as those in the Middle East, have also broken through as seminal entries.
Some notable recent war movies include Ridley Scott's Black Hawk Down (2001), which chronicles a real-life incident during the Battle of Mogadishu, and Sam Mendes' Jarhead (2005), which follows a Marine's journey during the Persian Gulf War. Green Zone (2010), American Sniper (2014), Lone Survivor (2013), The Outpost (2019), and Zero Dark Thirty (2012) all take very different looks at similarly recent conflicts. One 2012 film, however, has largely fallen by the wayside when it comes to war movie genre history.

"Stargate" was a surprisingly important sci-fi movie, all things considered. While the 1994 production from director Rolan Emmerich failed to get a sequel, it did serve as a launching pad for a surprisingly enduring franchise. MGM later decided to bring the concept to the small screen in 1997 with "Stargate Sg-1," a show that ran for 10 seasons and more than 200 episodes. While that undoubtedly resulted in a payday for the property's creators, Emmerich's "Stargate" movie co-writer, Dean Devlin, wasn't too pleased with the show.
In a 2019 retrospective with Variety, Devlin reflected on the "Stargate" film's legacy for its 25th anniversary. The piece revealed that MGM didn't want Emmerich or Devlin involved in the spinoff TV series, which was a source of tension. The studio "basically took it from us," Devlin said at the time. The first trailer has been revealed showing Billy Zane as Marlon Brando at the peak of his powers in upcoming biopic “Waltzing With Brando.”
The feature, which also stars Jon Heder, has been picked up by Vmi Worldwide for foreign sales.
Written and directed by Bill Fishman, the film is based on a memoir by Bernard Judge which takes place between 1969 and 1974 while Brando was preparing to film “The Godfather” and “Last Tango in Paris.” Alongside Zane and Heder, additional castmembers include the Oscar winner Richard Dreyfuss, as well as Camille Razat (“Emily in Paris”), Alaina Huffman, Tia Carrera (“Waynes World”) and Mick Jagger’s son James Jagger.
“Waltzing With Brando” follows Brando (Zane) — then the most famous actor in the world — as he filmed “Mutiny on the Bounty” and bought a tiny and uninhabitable island in Tahiti. His intent was to escape his hectic Hollywood lifestyle and show the world the path to sustainability.

Cory Hardrict is a prolific TV and movie actor who has appeared in numerous productions over the years and, in the last decade or so, he's managed to break out into more leading roles. Born on November 9, 1979, Hardrict began his career at a young age, playing minor characters in popular programs like Smart Guy, Felicity, Angel, and CSI: Miami. This was his career for years. His IMDb is filled with one episode parts as primarily unnamed characters, but his dedication to the career path is impressive to look back on.
Hardrict's first movie role came in the Drew Barrymore romantic comedy, Never Been Kissed, as Packer, a surprisingly large part after years of small TV roles. Things then settled back down for the actor, but it seemed like every year, he was steadily increasing his screen time and appearing in more and more projects, as if he would not be denied.

Ross, on the other hand, is an on-the-rise actor, with her breakout role having recently come in the Alicia Vikander-led Irma Vep miniseries.

“Rise of the Raven,” the anticipated European event series from Beta Film, behind “Babylon Berlin” and “The Swarm,” and producer Robert Lantos, will world premiere at Cannes content trade fair Mipcom on Oct. 22.
Beta Film has shared in exclusivity with Variety a first teaser to the series, which is a bracing introduction to the scale and ambition of “Rise of the Raven’s” production values, as well as the brutality of its battles scenes as it tells in an 10-part epic the extraordinary real-life feat of Hungarian army commander Janos Hunyadi, played by discovery Gellért L. Kádár, who turned back the tide of the Ottoman Empire’s seemingly unstoppable advance into Europe.
This looks set to climax in the series as in history in 1456 when Hunyadi won a bloody Battle of Belgrade against a vast Ottoman force twice the size of his troops who were sometimes armed with just slings and patriotic fervor.

After taking a $9.1 billion write-down on its linear networks business, in part due to the company’s loss of NBA rights, Warner Bros. Discovery is ramping up its investment in programming for TNT.
The cable network has greenlit “Debriefing the President” (working title), a four-hour miniseries about CIA analyst John Nixon’s 2003 interrogation of Saddam Hussein, in which he learned about the potential consequences of the invasion, the humanitarian horrors and geopolitical turbulences that would follow Saddam’s deposing.
The series is produced by Ar Content and Big Dreams Entertainment for TNT. Alexander Rodnyansky, Joel Kinnaman, Stuart Manashil, Michael Kupisk, Peter Gerwe, Shelley Browning, and Leslie Greif serve as EPs, while Cristi Bostanescu and Eric Tomosunas serve as producers and Krzysztof Skonieczny directs.
TNT has also acquired “The Librarians: The Next Chapter,” a sequel to supernatural adventure series “The Librarians.” The project was initially set to lead The CW’s 2024-25 fall season.

Hellboy: The Crooked Man star Jack Kesy revealed why he didnt feel too pressured about playing the newest version of the titular anti-hero. The iconic character was previously portrayed by Ron Perlman in Guillermo del Toros Hellboy movies, and by David Harbour in the 2019 reboot.
Speaking with GamesRadar+, Kesy expressed his confidence about his portrayal of Hellboy in The Crooked Man movie, revealing that hes ready for whatever the fans and haters will say about his performance. "You know what, I love a good challenge, I've always been like that, so I was excited to take it on," he said. "Everyone, the supporters, the haters, whoever, bring them on. You know it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. You always get an opportunity to play people similar to yourself, but when do you get a chance to be in full prosthetic, playing iconic characters? The excitement topped everything."

Set in Belgium during the invasion of the German army in an event now known as the "Rape of Belgium," The Last Front follows widowed farmer Leonard (Iain Glen), and his children, including his son Adrian (James Downie). Adrien and his father are at odds over Adrian's love interest, the cloistered and wealthy neighbor Louise (Sasha Luss). However, father and son must reconcile right as danger reaches their doorstep with devastating results.

Notably, The Last Breath features the last performance by the late Julian Sands to reach the screen. Sadly, it’s a supporting role that doesn’t give him, or more likely his stunt double, a lot of screen time or much to do until the end of the film…
1944, somewhere off the US Virgin Islands, a German U Boat sinks the USS Charlotte. There are survivors, but where there are survivors, there are sharks. In the present, Levi (Julian Sands) has been searching for the wreck for decades, and, along with Noah he’s finally found it.
A group of Noah’s friends, Logan, Riley (Erin Mullen; Midsomer Murders), Sam who happens to be Noah’s ex, and her instantly hateable brother Brett arrive for a vacation.

Crosshair's redemption in The Bad Batch is more impactful than Darth Vader's, earning empathy and support from the audience. The key to a good redemption story is making the audience believe in the character's journey, as seen in Crosshair's development. Crosshair's path to redemption is convincing and satisfying, showing the longevity and consequences of his transformation.
While Darth Vader's redemption in Star Wars may be its most famous, I think Star Wars: The Bad Batch has managed to top it with Crosshair's story in season 3. Crosshair's redemption has been all three seasons in the making, from his full commitment to the Empire throughout season 1 to his reconciliation with his brothers and Omega in season 3. The way it plays out is utterly breathtaking, and better yet, it's given time to breathe within the actual story itself. This makes his redemption feel even more earned, and thus even more effective.

The Mandalorian sparked a wave of successful Star Wars TV content, with "The Rescue ranking among Star Wars' best TV episodes. Star Wars: The Bad Batch episode "The Outpost" shines as the best in the series, while Andor's "The Eye" and "One Way Out" mark the best of the Rogue One spin-off. The Clone Wars episodes "The Phantom Apprentice," "The Lawless," and "Victory and Death" stand out as the best of the show.

Mayday's brief but impactful role in The Bad Batch shapes Crosshair's redemption journey in a profound way. The music in the final episode hints at the important connection between Crosshair and Mayday through a blended motif. Crosshair's path to redemption is influenced by Mayday's tragic death, leading him back to his brothers for a life of peace.
While all the members of Clone Force 99 in Star Wars: The Bad Batch are important in their own right, there's one character who's absolutely pivotal - and they aren't even a member of the titular squad. Commander Mayday is introduced in season 2, episode 13 "The Outpost," which has since become one of The Bad Batch's best episodes. His role in the story, however brief, is extremely impactful on Crosshair and his future - something that has since been confirmed by The Bad Batch's composers themselves.

Guy Ritchie is back with The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. Based on what is allegedly the first “Black Ops” mission it’s a variation on The Dirty Dozen and all the knock-offs that followed, right up to and including Inglourious Basterds.
The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare opens with a boat having just been boarded by several members of the German Navy. As they pour gasoline over the deck, they tell its occupants they have the choice of staying on board and burning to death, or jumping overboard and drowning. For some reason, however, they don’t seem very worried.
From there we jump back 25 days, to Churchill watching newsreel footage about Hitler’s U-boats keeping American troops from entering the war.

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare is an impossibly glib, rip-roaring, and exciting action picture. It’s the type of old-fashioned entertainment full of movie stars who get the job done, cracking-wise, and goddamn, they look good doing it. You can’t help but get swept up in the action and think a franchise is born.
It helps to have a cast with this much swashbuckling beefcake, including a Superman, a Reacher, and a G.I. Joe. The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare is a film my wife calls the “Five Hot Guys” movie, with lots of eye candy and bloodshed for everyone involved. In a way, it is the perfect date movie.

European Film Promotion has unveiled the seventh edition of the Changing Face of Europe, a section that runs as part of Toronto documentary festival Hot Docs, which runs April 25 – May 5.
The section features nine European documentaries, selected by the Hot Docs programming team, that “illustrate and examine a new and contemporary Europe from a cultural, social, geo-political and economic perspective.”
In addition to attending the screenings and the festival’s industry program, the directors and producers of the films will be part of on-site and online events organized by Efp, including networking sessions and one-on-one meetings with distributors, buyers and festival programmers from North America.
“Kelly – Someone Else’s Dream” follows Estonian freestyle skier Kelly Sildaru. She was just 13 years old when she won a gold medal at the 2016 Winter X Games in Aspen. After breaking numerous other records, she broke her silence and accused her father and coach of abuse.

The poster for No Way Up says that it’s from the executive producers of the 47 Meters Down series. That’s not a good sign because it means it’s from the money men behind those films, not the writers, directors or any of the creative types. This time around, they’ve decided to offer their finny cash cows an all-you-can-eat buffet and, taking a cue from Airport 77, they’ve crashed an airliner into the Pacific. That leaves the survivors trapped on the ocean floor in a rapidly shrinking air pocket and surrounded by sharks.
As No Way Up starts things are already looking bad for Jed and Kyle. Kyle’s date for their trip to Cabo backed out at the last minute.

The Bad Batch season 3 will continue the tradition of redemption and forgiveness that is core to Star Wars storytelling. The season will tie up loose ends for all Clone Force 99 members, including Crosshair and Omega. The trailer hints at a redemption arc for Crosshair, as he is seen working with Clone Force 99 and wearing his old armor.
The official trailer for Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 3 confirms that Star Wars’ next redemption arc is on its way. Redemption has always been an important theme in Star Wars storytelling - one could even argue that the entire Skywalker saga is built around it. Luke Skywalker was the catalyst for Darth Vader’s redemption in Return of the Jedi, and Rey encouraged Ben Solo to turn his back on the dark side in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Redemption and forgiveness tie much of Star Wars’ narrative together, and now,...

The episode of Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? covering Eye See You was Written by Mike Holtz, Narrated by Travis Hopson, Edited by Juan Jimenez, Produced by Andrew Hatfield and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
If you’re like me and so many other nineties kids, you may remember Eye See You (watch it Here) as that Sylvester Stallone film you saw late in his career sitting on the shelves at your local Blockbuster or Hollywood Video featuring Sly pointing a gun in a snowy landscape looking just as surprised as you to be there with such little fanfare. Stallone belongs on the “Guaranteed to have in-stock or you get a free rental” Holy shit package wall of the video store or at the very least in an interesting role among an all-star cast like he’d been in with Cop Land a few years previous.

The Outpost receives high praise for its realism, with a rating of 9/10 from an expert and positive reviews from veterans. Director Rod Lurie's background in the military contributed to the film's unprecedented level of realism for a Hollywood war movie. The Outpost was based on a book by Jake Tapper, who extensively researched the Battle of Kamdesh and interviewed veterans involved, some of whom appear in the movie.
The Outpost receives a high rating for realism from an expert. Based on the non-fiction book by Jake Tapper, the war movie chronicles the Battle of Kamdesh, which saw a small team of U.S. soldiers battling hundreds of Taliban fighters, during the war in Afghanistan. With a cast led by Scott Eastwood, Caleb Landry Jones, and Orlando Bloom, The Outpost did not receive a wide theatrical release due to the Covid-19 pandemic and was instead sent straight to video-on-demand in 2020. Less than 10 days after the Season 1 finale aired, Apple TV+ reports that there are more episodes ahead for its period drama, The Buccaneers. Making its case that the world can always use another young adult-packed period piece oozing with sexual tension and scandal, The Buccaneers is already giving Bridgerton a run for its money. The renewal news will undoubtedly come as a sigh of relief for fans after Season 1 left several plots dangling on a cliffhanger. While a call sheet hasn’t been solidified, audiences can expect to see the familiar leading faces of Kristine Frøseth (Sharp Stick), Josie Totah (Saved by the Bell), Alisha Boe (When You Finish Saving The World), Imogen Waterhouse (The Outpost), and Aubri Ibrag (Dive Club) reprising their roles as the titular group of friends.

Apple TV+ is returning to its Bridgerton-esque period drama The Buccaneers.
Based on the unfinished Edith Wharton novel, the high-end series launched last month. It stars Christina Hendricks, Mia Threapleton (I Am Ruth), Kristine Frøseth (The Assistant), Alisha Boe (When You Finish Saving The World), Josie Totah (Saved by the Bell), Aubri Ibrag (Dive Club) and Imogen Waterhouse (The Outpost).
The Buccaneers charts goings-on in the late 19th century as a group of fun-loving young American girls explode into the tightly corseted London season, kicking off an Anglo-American culture clash as the land of the stiff upper lip is infiltrated by a refreshing disregard for centuries of tradition. Sent to secure husbands and titles, their hearts are set on much more than that, and saying “I do” is just the beginning.
The show has been compared in scope and tone to Netflix smash Bridgerton, although speaking to Deadline several weeks ago,...
