- In Zenith, Barbie asks his father to get a message to Julia but learns from a new friend that the message was altered. Barbie also learns that his father's company has been monitoring all activity in the dome for the government - but not necessarily sharing everything they've seen. Meanwhile, Sam and Pauline try an experimental drug on Lyle who manages to come out of his stupor. Back in Chester's Mills, Big Jim makes himself the new sheriff. - Big Jim makes himself at home in the sheriff's office, putting on the badge and gun. He drives by Rebecca's house and gives her a walkie talkie, as a "key" person. She pointedly asks who she calls if someone breaks into her house, as he did.
He apologizes, saying he got overzealous.
"I feel like the dome has something else in store for me. I've just been too lucky to ignore it anymore," he says.
In Zenith, Don tells his son that he has a way to get an email through, using his military connections. Barbie writes down his message, telling her he'll see her again, all it takes is a "leap of faith." He wants it sent to Joe's email address.
In the high school, Joe and Norrie record something for his Chester's Mill video blog. He gets Barbie's email.
Joe and Norrie go to Julia and Melanie in the café and shows her the email, which now ends with a line about bringing the egg with her.
Julia is skeptical and wants to send a reply.
In Zenith, Sam and Pauline check on Lyle who is now saying "it's in the cards" over and over again. Sam wants to leave town and start over, but Pauline wants to find a way into the dome to get Junior out. She heard about a new experimental drug that she wants Sam to use on Lyle.
Meanwhile, Barbie sits at the playground and waits for Julia. A surveillance camera catches his face.
In a computer lab somewhere, a hacker sees Barbie on the park bench and matches his face using facial recognition. "Gotcha," he says.
Later, Barbie catches the hacker following him and grabs him. The hacker tells him he knows Barbie used to be under the dome, and that his father doctored his email to Julia, telling her to bring the egg.
Barbie wants to know how he knew about the email.
Back in Chester's Mill, the kids and Julia try to find an email signal again -- and fail. They want to confirm the first email was from Barbie before Julia jumps off the cliff. They decide to send a note over that only he would understand.
At the mental hospital in Zenith, Pauline swipes a nurse's keycard and passes it to Sam, who raids the medical supply closet.
Junior finds his dad in the station. Jim tells his son about the dome having plans for him. He apologizes for not believing Junior.
Rebecca radios Jim to come to the café.
Junior and Jim arrive and see that someone cut down the windmill and left it in the street. They're called away to a fire.
Back in Zenith, the hacker talks Barbie through getting into his dad's computer. He directs Barbie to houndsofdiana.com and tells him a code to type in, giving the hacker access. He shows Barbie the doctored email his dad sent, including the line about the egg, then he keeps digging and finds surveillance photos of Barbie and Julia inside the dome.
Barbie is interrupted by his dad. Through his blue tooth, the hacker tells Barbie to stall while he restores the computer. Barbie says he was checking his email, hoping something could get through, and distracts his dad until the computer is back to normal.
Junior, Jim, and Rebecca respond to Andrea's walkie call for help and find a car burning under a billboard for Big Jim's auto dealership. Jim thinks someone is sending him a message.
Don Barbara takes Barbie to Aktion Energy HQ and confesses him the email didn't go through government channels, it went through Aktion. Don takes Barbie to meet his tech guy to send another email -- it's the hacker, Hunter.
Standing on the edge of the cliff, Julia wraps her note around a paperweight from Big Jim's auto dealership and prepares to drop it but Joe's phone dings. They read Barbie's email, which mentions his first kiss with Julia and is signed "your stray."
She believes it's from him because she called him that, and understands from the kiss reference that he wants to meet. All the details are wrong, they're directions. Julia wants to go alone.
Sam and Pauline inject Lyle with something so Pauline can find out if there's a way into Chester's Mill. Lyle slumps over and they wait.
Barbie grabs Hunter walking to his car and tells him he's going to help him get to the dome or Barbie will tell the military about his hacking.
Back at the station, Jim comes up with a long list of people who have it in for him.
Outside the dome, Barbie walks up dressed like a tech geek. He shows his ID as Michael Bryant, a radiation specialist from Aktion. He passes the thumb scan and is allowed through. The checkpoint is 16 miles from the dome. Barbie sees a military transport loading up and ditches his briefcase and climbs underneath, holding onto the frame.
In the mental hospital, Lyle wakes up thinking he's in heaven. He freaks out when he hears he's in a hospital.
Inside the dome, Jim pulls over Julia to check in and give her a walkie talkie. She tells him she's heading to Joe's house to salvage food.
When the transport stops, Barbie lets go and runs through the woods, crossing a laser tripwire.
In Zenith, Pauline says she wants the three of them to go back to Chester's Mill to get answers. She thinks there must be a reason Melanie came back. She asks Lyle about his repeating "it's in the cards," and he remembers that when he went over the cliff he had her postcards with him.
Junior and Rebecca find Tom Tildon, who is angry at Jim but says he was busy all morning pawning his stuff since his pigs are all dead from the flu.
Junior calls his dad to check in. Jim responds and is then cracked in the head by Phil Bushey.
Julia waits for Barbie at the edge of the dome and yells at it for leading her on.
Phil has Jim strung up in the jail. He's angry about not being sheriff and about fake destroying the food when Jim told him to. Junior arrives and tackles Phil. Rebecca uncuffs Jim and he knocks out Phil.
Jim throws Phil in a cell as Phil laments that none of them are getting out alive.
Pauline, Sam and Lyle go through Pauline's postcards. Sam organizes them in the order of the events that happened, including Angie's bloody handprint on a locker and the last one she drew of the Zenith obelisk. Then she remembers one more she drew but didn't send -- of a red door.
Jim comes out of the prison and sees something flying overhead.
At the dome wall, Julia finally sees Barbie running toward her. He takes out a pen and writes that it's not safe out here. SUVs start to pull up and he writes "don't j----" but they grab him and haul him away as he's telling her not to jump.
From nearby, Jim has followed the helicopter and is watching the whole thing through binoculars.
