I couldn't get past the first 15 minutes of this film. The lead actress' vocal fry was like listening to nails on a chalkboard. Neither she nor the Director should work again.

It's a clean movie with humor. The Cake King should have gotten his own spinoff movie.
Mothers of the Bride's plotline is a typical formula. The bride decides that now is the time to seek out her birth mother, who happens to be a glamorous event planner. Then the two mothers clash throughout the wedding planning. But they finally come to understand each other better, and let go of their own wants. In the end, they're friends, and their daughter happily goes off on her honeymoon.
It's not until late in the movie that we delve into the emotional matters of adoption and birth parentage. There's a scene between the birth mom and daughter, and there's the reconciliation scene between the two mothers. In both scenes, the actress playing the birth mom does a good job. And there are some good lines describing the beauty of adoption.
