- In order to help Neal carry out a risky heist, Peter must involve himself in a dangerous con against the Pink Panthers, putting El at unease with their new baby on the way. Meanwhile, Neal designs a new plan that will serve the interests of the Pink Panthers - and himself.
- Neal and Keller executes Woodward's Pink Panthers' plan to rob the JFK airport safe, except Mozzie intercepts $30 million in notes by opening the pneumatic tube in a tunnel. Afterward the FBI arrests the Panthers, Neal and Keller sneak away from Peter and meet Mozzie in the tunnel, where Keller betrays them and shoots Neal in a struggle. Peter kills the fleeing Keller and finds Neal being taken away in an ambulance. At the hospital, he and Mozzie view Neal's apparently lifeless body. One year later, Mozzie operates alone while Peter and Elizabeth are raising their infant son Neal. A mysterious delivery of a fine wine inspires Peter to investigate a storage unit containing evidence that the original Neal faked his death. Peter laughs as he concludes this, and Caffrey is last seen in Paris, perhaps in search of a new adventure.—KGF Vissers
- It's time to close the book on White Collar. Will Neal finally go free? Will the Panthers get sent away? Will Mozzie deliver yet another baby? Let's find out, shall we:
The episode opens with Peter referencing an old diamond heist in order to convince Woodford he needs to be taken on as part of the gang.
Neal finally lets Mozzie in on the plan. He wants him to be the "outside man," because he and Keller are planning to steal $30 million of the half billion federal reserve cash during the robbery. They'll need him to siphon off the money from the tube at another location. Mozzie's worried about Keller double-crossing them, but Neal says "I'll be ready."
We see Neal working on some sort of side plan, shooting a bullet into a dummy.
Peter and Elizabeth tell Neal they're having a boy. When Peter leaves the room Elizabeth makes Neal promise to keep him safe during this mission.
We see the Panthers will be using a jammer to block the alarm, providing them eleven minutes to siphon cash. During the heist they will be operating under radio silence.
The job begins. Peter and Keller are able to gain access to the airport hanger by posing as a mortuary company, with Neal able to disguise himself as security to let them in. Woodford is off-site at the tube suction site. They start the clock and Neal and Keller drill into the safe that holds the cash.
Meanwhile Mozzie sits up shop in a sewer near Wall Street.
The plan goes off perfectly, as huge bags of cash are sent down the tubes to Woodford at the outside locale. At a predetermined time Mozzie opens up a pipe. This blocks the flow of air, sending cash shooting all over Mozzie in the sewer. Woodford simply thinks the airflow has been blocked. After a few minutes Mozzie closes it again and they're back in business.
The cash is loaded up and the team meets up to count it. At this moment Diana, Jones and their team move in and makes the bust. Everybody is busted, including Peter and Neal. Peter leaves the truck to speak with his team, but when he returns both Neal and Keller are gone.
Neal, Keller and Mozzie rendezvous in the Wall Street sewer. Keller is handed his share, a bag with $10 million. He decides to change the plan, pulling out a knife and demanding all of it. But Neal is ready and reaches for a revolver. He sends Mozzie away with their share of the cash.
The FBI gets a ping from Neal's anklet in Wall Street.
Neal and Keller argue over what happens next. Keller thinks they're the same guy, Neal thinks otherwise. Keller references Kate and a struggle ensues. Neal is shot in the chest and crumples to the floor as blood soaks his shirt. Keller flees on foot with his bag of cash. Peter quickly finds him and, after Keller briefly takes a hostage, shoots Keller in the head. Peter rushes to the ambulance where Neal is being loaded into the vehicle. A pale-looking Neal says "You're my best friend" before being taken away.
At the hospital Peter and Mozzie are shown Neal's body. Mozzie can't believe it and begins babbling about it not being possible that Neal has died. Peter forces him to look at the body and Mozzie starts to weep.
Peter is given Neal's possessions. When he's handed the tracking anklet he whispers dramatically "You're free. You're free." Well, I guess that's it. Wait a minute...
ONE YEAR LATER
We learn Peter is still working in New York, having turned down his dream gig in DC. Diana, however, is moving on to DC. Peter goes to see Mozzie in the park, where he is running a three card monte game, and they talk Neal. He references $23 million that mysteriously went missing during the heist. Mozzie shows him the queen of hearts that Neal used the first time he met Mozzie, which convinced him that they should partner. Mozzie tells Peter that he has skipped over denial and gone straight to depression in the stages of grief. Mozzie goes to Peter's place and spends time with Elizabeth and their baby, little Neal.
Peter and Elizabeth are sent a bottle of nice wine. When she leaves to check on the baby Peter thinks of something. He goes to the box with Neal's stuff and finds a key. He recalls the container where Neal had met with the woman. He thinks back and realizes that woman played the part of one of the EMTs. Inside the container he finds all of materials Neal used to fake being shot and simulate his own death. The gun he had in the sewer never contained real bullets. He also finds the queen of hearts that Mozzie had shown him, which implies that Mozzie knows Neal is alive.
The series ends with a shot of Paris. Neal places his trademark Fedora on his head and strolls down the boulevard. A screen shot says Fin (French for 'the end').
