A coming-of-age film with actress Sanya Malhotra is on the cards for producer Guneet Monga of Oscar-winning short documentary "Period. End of Sentence." fame.
"We are doing a Hindi film. It's a film with Sanya Malhotra. It's a coming of age story of a young girl in a small town," Monga told Ians here on the sidelines of a screening of "Period. End of Sentence." organised by Netflix at The American Centre.
Delhi is a common factor between the producer and actress, who has been noticed for "Dangal", "Pataakha", "Badhaai Ho" and "Photograph".
While Monga is awaiting to join creative forces with the "amazing" talent that Sanya is, she also has plans to expand her footprints into regional cinema.
She has already taken a step ahead with Tamil film "Soorarai Pottru", featuring superstar Suriya. It is being directed by Sudha Kongara.
Monga, who leads Sikhya Entertainment, had a childlike excitement speaking of the project.

In his three-films old career, actor Vicky Kaushal is already being touted as the new poster-boy of independent cinema.
Making an impressive debut as Deepak in Masaan and his role as a man on a self-discovery journey in Zubaan the actor certainly has shown himself to be one to keep an eye
Now, Vicky is all set for the release of Anurag Kashyap’s crime-thriller Raman Raghav 2.0, where he is ditching his romantic, boy-next-door image by playing a troubled cop. “That is a deliberate effort from my end. Whatever I do should surprise me and the audience and I want that with every film people should feel ‘What is he upto now?'” said Vicky.
Raman Raqhav 2.0 set in present day Mumbai the story follows the life of a serial killer Ramanna who is inspired by an infamous serial killer from the 1960s Raman Raghav. His strange obsession with Raghavan,...

Zubaan, the small-big film which opened alongside Prakash Jha's Jai Gangaajal finds itself in a peculiar bottleneck situation. Though it has been appreciated a lot more than Jai Gangaajal, Zubaan finds its voice being stifled by non-availability of screening outlets. Most of the shows and screens have been monopolized by Jai Gangaajal leaving Zubaan high and dry. Zubaan director Mozez Singh admits there was a scarcity of theatres. "We did face a dearth of theatres and screens. I guess the other release is much bigger than ours and starring a very big international star (Priyanka Chopra). But we are hopeful we will get more screens as the week passes by." Says trade analyst Atul Mohan, "Stars sell. And that's the bottom line about all discussions on the distribution of screens and theatres. Band mutthi lakh ki....khuljaye toh phir khaak ki...Till Friday the multiplexes had choice of two...

For those who thought Vicky Kaushal’s Masaan act last year was just a one-off flash in the pan affair, Zubaan is an eye-opener. Kaushal plays Dilsher, the waylaid Sikh boy from Gurdaspur who only wants to be successful in ways that we normally describe success. So he schemes his way into the heart mind home and property of a business tycoon Sikand (Manish Chaudhary, exuding arrogant power the way Amrish Puri did in Subhash Ghai’s Pardes) ends up getting what he thinks he wants.
From here onwards first-time director Mozez Singh (who must be kidding about being a debutant, which first-timer would be able to make film so confident and compelling??!!) charts Dilsher’s descent into a selfserving opportunism and then his sudden swerve into redemption. This journey back and forth on the scale of morality has been undertaken repeatedly in films as far-ranging as Raman Kumar’s...

It is a case of too many too soon. With a whole lot of our Bollywood stars playing Sikhs in recent films, and some more coming up-Vicky Kaushal in Zubaan and Tiger Shroff in The Flying Jatt - Shahid Kapoor will no more be playing a turbaned Sikh in Vishal Bhardwaj's Rangoon. According to sources close to the project, that was the original plan. "Shahid has never played a Sardarji before. And it was felt he would look dapper in a turban. But then, a whole lot of stars like Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar appeared on screen as a Sardarji. So, Vishal Bhardwaj dropped the idea of casting Shahid as a Sardarji." The actor's role has now been altered. Apparently, Shahid Kapoor now plays a Muslim character, as it was important to cast him in a culture-specific part as the film, according to a source in the know,...

The 20th Busan International Film Festival (Biff) kicked off on Thursday night with a star-studded red carpet, fireworks and the world premiere of Indian film Zubaan.
Busan Mayor Suh Byung-su, who is also the festival’s organising committee chief, officially opened the festival’s 20th edition. “There have been many ups and downs, but despite that, because of all the hard work from people in the film industry, film fans and Busan citizens, the Busan festival hasn’t just become Asia’s major festival, but it’s on the way to becoming a world class film festival,” Suh said.
The ceremony was hosted by one of South Korea’s top actors Song Kang-ho (Snowpiercer) and star of award-winning film Osama, Marina Golbahari. The Afghanistan actress became the second non-Korean in Biff’s history to host the ceremony after Chinese actress Tang Wei in 2012.
