Sony’s Spider-Man Universe had a good idea at the start: bring together key characters from the Spiderverse. But they forgot something important: Spider-Man himself. Despite a few movies already, the universe hasn’t been received well, except for the ‘Venom’ series, which is ending this October.
The latest disappointment was ‘Madame Web.’ This December, we’re getting a movie about one of Spider-Man’s top villains, Kraven the Hunter. Let’s see what we know about it.
The movie will be rated “R”
We don’t have much info on the movie’s plot, but the villain was supposed to be in it earlier. Execs held off because his stories are pretty intense for older viewers. The movie will likely be rated “R,” but we’re still unsure which story it’ll use. In August 2018, Richard Wenk was hired to write the script, following his success with ‘The Equalizer 2.

Sony’s Spider-Man Universe started with the best intentions, it was supposed to gather the most important supporting characters from the Spiderverse, but they forgot one important thing, Spider-Man himself.
Despite, by now, having several installments, the cinematic universe wasn’t all that well-received with the exception of the ‘Venom’ franchise, which is scheduled to get its last installment this October. The latest flop in the Ssu was ‘Madame Web,’ and this December we’re bound to get a story centered around one of the most notable Spider-Man villains, Kraven the Hunter, so let’s see what we know about the movie.
‘Kraven the Hunter’ will be a darker story
Not much is known about the overall plot of the movie, except that the villain was supposed to be featured even earlier but the execs avoided him due to having pretty brutal stories aimed at more mature audiences. The upcoming...

Based on the 1980s TV series of the same name, "The Equalizer" trilogy sees Denzel Washington playing a killing machine. Washington is Robert McCall, a former Marine and ex-Defense Intelligence Agency agent who would really like to be left alone. Unfortunately, scumbags and other villains frequently cross his path, which means McCall is often getting back into action and killing a lot of people.
Directed by Antoine Fuqua, the "Equalizer" trilogy is ultra-violent and action-packed. It's also surprisingly solid. These aren't great movies, but like Robert McCall, they get the job done in swift, brutal fashion. "The Equalizer 3" feels like an ending of sorts for Robert McCall, which makes for a sturdy trilogy. But how does the trilogy stack up as a whole? Which is the best entry? Which is the worst?
Let's find out by ranking "The Equalizer" movies!

Denzel Washington and Antoine Fuqua are reteaming for the epic Hannibal drama for Netflix.
Fuqua will direct the film based on a script by John Logan, with Washington also producing. There’s no word on Washington’s role in the movie based on the real-life warrior Hannibal, but expect lots of characters atop elephants crossing the Alps.
Washington and Fuqua already had outings on 2001’s Training Day, 2014’s The Equalizer and 2018’s The Equalizer 2.
The historical figure Hannibal was regarded as one of the greatest military commanders in history. The Netflix movie will cover pivotal battles against the Roman Republic during the Second Punic War fought between the two great empires of Rome and Carthage.
The Hannibal project is part of Fuqua’s production company Hill District Media’s first look partnership with Netflix. Washington and Fuqua also worked together on the third edition of the Equalizer franchise.

In 2012, Ryan Reynolds and Denzel Washington teamed up for a commercially successful action/thriller in the form of "Safe House." While the film was met with mixed reviews from critics in its day, it was a sizable financial hit, taking in $208 million at the global box office, including more than $126 million domestically. The film has also remained a staple on cable TV and streaming in the years since its release. Perhaps not surprisingly, Universal Pictures was, at one point, developing a sequel.
The follow-up was originally announced in late 2012 shortly after the film's successful theatrical run. At the time, it was reported that writer David Guggenheim would return to pen the screenplay. Now, here we are more than a decade later and next to nothing has been said officially regarding "Safe House 2." So, is the movie still happening? Would Washington or Reynolds return? We're here to break down everything we know.

Millennium Media and Lionsgate’s Expendables 4 was the only new wide release on last night seeing $750K in previews.
The Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham fourthquel is only expected to make between $15M-$17M. If the movie bests the opening weekend of 2014’s The Expendables 3 ($15.8M), then Lionsgate will be happy. The fourth movie is playing at 3,518 locations including 900 PLF screens comprised of Xd, RPX, Dolby, 4DX and D-box . Lionsgate has UK in addition to U.S. on the Scott Waugh directed action movie.
That figure is under the preview take of Expendables 3 which did $875K off showtimes that began at 8Pm. Ouch. Expendables 4 Thursday is a tad higher than that of Gerard Butler’s Plane from Lionsgate which did $625K and opened to $10.2M. The final chapter as the trailer mentioned is apt as I really hope they do not make another one. After Equalizer 2 which lacked a clear story due to its multiple storylines, Equalizer 3 does a better job with the story. Although it is predictable, it is more focused and tight, so there are no huge expectations with it. Antoine Fuqua returns to direct this movie with Denzel Washington reprising his role as Robert McCall in the only franchise trilogy that he has been a part of. Equalizer 3 is a run-of-the-mill formulaic action film carried by a strong Denzel Washington performance.
During his recent mission, Robert McCall brings down a mafia lord in his home in the Italian countryside. He gets injured at the end and gets picked up by a cop who takes him to a doctor where he is cared for and brought back to health. Since he still recovering,...

Pedro Pascal has been an actor for years, but he truly shot to fame after appearing in the first season of The Last of Us. Since then, he’s garnered plenty of media attention, even becoming a meme after being recorded eating a sandwich.
Pascal might have a successful acting career, but you probably didn’t know that “Pedro Pascal” isn’t his real name. Rather, it’s a sweet nod to his late mother.

Pedro Pascal certainly rolls off the tongue, but he didn’t change his stage name for that reason. Rather, it was a decision he made to honor his late mother, Verónica Pascal. Pascal’s mother died before she could see him reach full fame, and the two had such as close relationship. She died by suicide in 2000, and it was after that that...

The fall movie season is off to a slightly better start than last year, as "The Nun II" scared up a big opening weekend, easily topping the charts. That means Denzel Washington's "The Equalizer 3" had to settle for second place in the battle of the sequels at the box office. Even so, the actor's third go-around as Robert McCall still crossed a new milestone by passing $100 million globally.
Director Antoine Fuqua's "Equalizer 3" earned $12.1 million domestically in its second weekend at the box office, per The Numbers. Unfortunately, that means the sequel dropped a steep 65% in its second frame when compared to its $34.6 million debut last weekend. That said, the film also had the Monday Labor Day holiday under its belt, which might have made it even more front-loaded than it might otherwise have been. So if we were dealing with a standard, three-day first weekend and the movie had a 65% drop,...

Warner Bros./New Line’s “The Nun II” is kicking off the fall box office with a $32.6 million opening weekend is making it likely that September will be a much better month for theaters than last year’s miserable slump.
While well short of the $53 million opening of the first “Nun” in 2018, “The Nun II” is meeting pre-release projections and is also in a similar range to past films in the “Conjuring” series. It tops the $24 million opening made by “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It” during Warner’s day-and-date experiment in 2021, and slides just below the $35 million opening of “Annabelle: Creation” in 2017.
“The Nun II” has also made $52.7 million from 70 overseas markets this weekend — including $8.9 million from Mexico — to give it an $85.3 million global start. Warner Bros. is anticipating a final global total of over $200 million, a solid result given that all of the “Conjuring” films have...

Despite the billions of dollars that have been invested in DC movies over the last decade, the most successful cinematic universe that doesn't have "Marvel" in the name is actually the one that spawned from James Wan's 2013 movie "The Conjuring." Alongside the primary movies about demon-hunters Ed and Lorraine Warren, the franchise has also expanded into spin-offs. Corin Hardy's 2018 film "The Nun," based around the demonic nun first seen in "The Conjuring 2," scored the biggest opening weekend for any "Conjuring" universe so far: an impressive $53.8 million that immediately eclipsed its $22 million production budget.
A sequel directed by Michael Chaves, simply titled "The Nun II," hit theaters this weekend, and while it won't quite reach the heights of the first movie, it's still on track to be another major horror hit for Warner Bros. Pictures. Per The Wrap, "The Nun II" grossed $13.1 million on Friday (including Thursday previews...

Warner Bros. and New Line’s “The Nun II” is kicking off the fall box office with a solid $32 million estimated opening weekend after grossing $13.1 million on Friday from 3,728 theaters, matching prerelease projections.
The first “Nun” was released in 2018 as a spinoff of New Line’s lucrative “Conjuring” horror series, and is the highest grossing film in the franchise with a $53 million domestic opening and a $365 million global box office total against a reported $22 million budget.
“Nun II” has never been projected to reach the heights of its predecessor, but is still beating the $24 million opening of the 2021 film “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It,” which released simultaneously in theaters and on streaming.
If walk-up traffic is higher than expected, “Nun II” could stretch closer to $35 million, which is what fellow “Conjuring” spinoff “Annabelle: Creation” earned in 2017 before inflation adjustment. Reception has been tepid among early moviegoers with a C+ on CinemaScore,...

Labor Day weekend has come and gone, meaning that the summer moviegoing season is essentially over. Now we're onto fall, which is far less certain for theaters in terms of financial prospects, as a mixed bag of releases are on the way in the coming months. But for right now, they get to thank Denzel Washington for ending the summer on a high note, as "The Equalizer 3" debuted with a solid opening weekend. So much so that the series now ranks as one of the most consistent franchises of all time, financially speaking.

Monday Update: It looks like Denzel Washington can now lay claim to having the 2nd biggest Labor Day box office debut, with The Equalizer 3 shooting up an estimated $42 million over the long weekend. Not bad at all if you consider that Denzel hasn’t been able to market the film due to the strike. It’s the best opening a movie’s posted since Barbenheimer, and seems likely to be the biggest until, coincidently, Denzel’s son John David Washington, opens his own potential blockbuster, The Creator, later this month.

On the final weekend of the summer box office season, Sony Pictures/Escape Artist’s “The Equalizer 3″ has taken the top spot on the charts with a solid opening weekend of $35 million from 3,985 theaters over the 3-day weekend, with a $42 million 4-day opening when Monday estimates are included.
That result would be the second largest ever on Labor Day weekend, standing only behind the $94.6 million opening of “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” in 2021. “Equalizer 3” sports a $70 million budget co-financed by Tsg Entertainment and Eagle Pictures, and with strong audience metrics including an A on CinemaScore should be on its way to matching the $102 million domestic run of “The Equalizer 2” in 2018.

Denzel Washington’s bloody assassin-thriller “The Equalizer 3” debuted at the top of box office charts with $34.5 million over the weekend and an estimated $41 million through Monday’s Labor Day holiday.
It’s the second-biggest Labor Day opening weekend in modern times, though the holiday isn’t known for bringing people to the movies. After the record-holder Marvel’s 2021 blockbuster “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”, the next highest-grossing Labor Day debut is Rob Zombie’s 2007 “Halloween” remake.
Still, the turnout for “Equalizer 3” speaks to Washington’s status as a box office draw. It landed an “A” CinemaScore from audiences and holds a 76% on Rotten Tomatoes, which is the highest of the trilogy.
The film added $26.1 million at the international box office for a global start of $60.6 million. The three-day domestic figure is nearly the same as its predecessors; 2014’s “The Equalizer” debuted to $34 million and 2018’s...

Wherever The Equalizer franchise goes, an audience has followed.
That was true for the original 1985-89 CBS TV series, and it’s especially true for Antoine Fuqua and Denzel Washington’s newly minted Equalizer trilogy. However, in the five years between The Equalizer 2 and today’s release of The Equalizer 3, a Queen Latifah-led Equalizer series has also come into its own on CBS, becoming one of the most-watched shows on television.
Now, one might assume that the success of the new show provided added reason for the brain trust behind the film series to pursue a proper end to their trilogy, but the reimagined show actually had no bearing on whether Fuqua and Washington finished the story of Robert McCall.
“We absolutely have no connection to that; it wasn’t even in [our] thinking, really,” Fuqua tells The Hollywood Reporter. “We just did one movie at a time,...

Academy Award-winner Denzel Washington is returning to theaters across the United States this weekend! Washington’s newest film “The Equalizer 3” began offering preview screenings earlier this week in preparation for its official theatrical debut on Sept. 1.
The film stars Washington as Robert McCall, an ex-Marine and Dia officer. McCall has a unique and dangerous skillset, and is wounded putting those skills to use on a mission in Sicily. While recovering he makes some new friends, but finds out they are under the control of a secretive Italian crime organization. Determined to free them, McCall sets out to uproot the organization no matter the cost.
Reviews have called the film formulaic but still entertaining, and it carries a 74% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with 92% of preview audiences agreeing. The film’s action sequences get special praise, as does Washington’s predictably outstanding performance. The movie also stars Dakota Fanning and David Denman.

‘The Equalizer 3” began its domestic box office sprint with $3.8 million. That’s well above the $1.4 million Thursday preview gross of “The Equalizer” in 2014 and just above the $3.1 million earned by “The Equalizer 2” in 2018.
Inflation and earlier preview showtimes notwithstanding, that’s a strong sign that this third installment of the franchise, which stars Denzel Washington as former special ops agent Robert McCall who periodically goes vigilante defending the defenseless, will open on par with the $34-$36 million earned by its predecessors over their respective opening weekends. Sony is hoping for $40 million over the four-day Labor Day holiday, and they just might get it.
Even with mixed-negative reviews, this is a pure star+IP sell. That said, it’s less about the CBS television show and more about a biblically serious Denzel Washington unleashing horrific but justifiable vengeance against very bad dudes. This is a star+IP situation where...

Antoine Fuqua’s The Equalizer 3 will not let this summer go out quietly in what’s expected to be a $30M-$40M 4-day opening weekend; poised to be the second-best ever for the holiday after Shang-Chi ($94.6M). Last night from showtimes that began at 3PM, the Sony threequel clocked $3.8M at 3,241 locations.
While 76% with critics on Rotten Tomatoes, Equalizer 3 is 92% with audiences currently. Sony has extra bullets at the box office with Imax and PLFs this weekend for Equalizer 3.
Last night’s previews best those of Equalizer 2 which took in $3.1M at 2,934 theaters from Thursday showtimes that began at 4Pm. That repped 23% of the pic’s $13.3M Friday in what was a No. 1 $36M over the July 20-22, 2018 frame, besting Universal’s opening for Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again which made $34.9M.
The first Equalizer, released on Sept. 26, 2014, did $1.45M in previews, a $12.4M Friday and a $34.1M opening.

It's been nearly five years since "The Equalizer 2" hit theaters, and on Sept. 1, Denzel Washington is returning to the big screen as Robert McCall in the action-packed "The Equalizer 3." The film, which also stars Dakota Fanning, is the third installment of the film series featuring Washington and the fifth in the Equalizer franchise, which includes the 1985 and 2021 TV shows. The original show premiered in 1985 and starred Edward Woodward as Robert McCall, a former covert operations officer turned private detective who uses his specialized training and skills to solve the problems of his clients and bring perpetrators to justice.
After the first "Equalizer" TV series ended in 1989, it inspired the 2014 film adaptation with Washington, as well as the reboot series featuring Queen Latifah as Robyn McCall, a woman version of the famous vigilante. Unlike the previous films in the Equalizer film series, "The Equalizer 3...

Moments into the inelegantly titled The Equalizer 3, the trilogy capper that reunites director Antoine Fuqua, and screenwriter Richard Wenk (The Equalizer and The Equalizer 2), with two-time Oscar winner Denzel Washington, two men -- one obviously frightened by what he's seen and heard, another maddened by the intrusion on his private property -- take an unplanned tour of an Italian winery decorated with the dismembered bodies and spilled blood of the latter’s henchmen, before encountering Washington’s title character, Robert McCall, an ex-dia-agent-assassin-turned-vigilante-hero, sitting quietly in a backroom, guns pointed at his head. As the fastidious, stoic McCall carefully folds a wine or blood-covered napkin in half, the scene unfolds in predictable, predictably satisfying fashion. MacCall speaks, softly and...

"The Equalizer" has been a sturdy franchise for Sony over the last decade. Based on the 1980s CBS series starring Edward Woodward, the films are a model of narrative simplicity: Denzel Washington plays Robert McCall, a world-weary yet principled ex-CIA operative who bounces around the globe to help powerless people overcome viciously corrupt criminals. They're self-contained vigilante yarns powered exclusively by one of Hollywood's most magnetic stars in full-on badass mode. Aside from their extrajudicial nature, they're basically Charles Bronson's "Death Wish" movies absent the racism and wretched treatment of women.
As such, they're utterly critic-proof, and Washington, a two-time Oscar winner who's widely considered to be one of our finest actors, shows no compunction about playing to the cheap seats. He knows audiences dig him in this kind of badass role, and, thus far, he's been proven right at the box office. The first two films (barely...

This piece was written during the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Without the labor of the writers and actors currently on strike, the movie being reviewed here wouldn't exist. This article also contains major spoilers for "The Equalizer 3."The original 1985 TV series "The Equalizer," starring Edward Woodward, was part of a notable trend in television from the '70s and '80s. Multiple shows at the time were about dangerous, mysterious, lawless drifters who traveled from town to town seeking out justice and applying violence where it might be needed. The trend included shows like "Kung Fu," "Then Came Bronson," "The A-Team," "The Incredible Hulk," and a little later, "Renegade." Robert McCall was an ex-military man who had a talent for finding people in distress and helping them — violently — as the situation required.
In 2014, filmmaker Antoine Fuqua adapted "The Equalizer" to the big screen, casting Denzel Washington in the role of Robert McCall.

This Labor Day weekend sees the release of just one new wide entry to theaters with the trilogy capper The Equalizer 3 starring Denzel Washington. The franchise, loosely based off the TV series of the same name that aired on CBS from 1985-1989, launched on September 26, 2014 where it opened with $34.1 million on its way to a $101.5 million domestic finish ($192.3 million worldwide). The sequel, 2018’s The Equalizer 2, would release in a prime summer slot of July 20 and open in first place with $36 million on its way to a $102 million domestic finish ($190.4 million worldwide). Those numbers are bolstered by the fact that director Antoine Fuqua keeps his budgets down with each film costing between $55- $75 million. Tracking for the film has it opening in the $30 million range and since that is about where the other two opened, that is what I will stick with for its 3-day take.

Starting his journey as a filmmaker with Chow Yun-Fat’s Hollywood debut, the iconic The Replacement Killers, director Antoine Fuqua has attained a certain mastery over the crime-action genre of movies in his three-decade-long career. Therefore, having him once again team up with the legendary Denzel Washington (after their Training Day collaboration) back in 2014 for a movie adaptation of the 80s crime series Equalizer, was the best decision Sony Studios made. Despite being surrounded by similar movies where uber-cool, righteous killers dedicate their lives to purging not-so-dignified killers, The Equalizer series has its own meditative, calculative charm that can be hardly seen in modern-day action movies. This factor, along with grounded yet inventive action sequences and a flair for character drama, made the series a cult classic, leading to the release of a sequel in 2018 titled The Equalizer 2. The series is also notable for being the first and only...

Denzel Washington’s assassin thriller “The Equalizer 3” is gunning for the top spot on box office charts over Labor Day weekend. The R-rated film is projected to earn $28 million to $30 million between Friday and Sunday and $33 million to $40 million through the four-day holiday frame.
As this weekend’s only new nationwide release, “Equalizer 3” shouldn’t have any trouble in knocking down the prior box office champion, Sony’s racing drama “Gran Turismo,” which opened to $17.4 million and looks to add $7 million to $9 million in its sophomore outing.
In other notable box office milestones, “Barbie” ($1.34 billion) will soon overtake “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” ($1.35 billion) as the highest-grossing worldwide release of the year. And Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” ($778 million) is imminently crossing the $800 million mark globally, a remarkable result for most films, but especially a three-hour historical drama. Viva Barbenheimer!

Labor Day weekend marks the end of the summer, but it’s also a holiday weekend where many moviegoers try to catch up on what they missed. Read on for Gold Derby’s box office preview.
This would be a good catch-up weekend if not for the fact that last weekend was National Cinema Day with $4 movie tickets on Sunday, and presumably, many moviegoers used that fact to catch up on summer movies. This weekend is generally counted as four days since Monday is a national holiday, and any schools that have already reopened will be closed again.
With that in mind, this Labor Day sees the first nationwide theatrical release for a Denzel Washington movie since “The Equalizer 2” in the summer of 2018. Although he did star in the serial killer thriller “The Little Things” opposite fellow Oscar winner Jared Leto in 2021, it got a nominal theatrical release in the height of the pandemic,...

Director Antoine Fuqua still remembers his first day on set with his now-five-time star Denzel Washington. It was early 2001, one of the first days of production on “Training Day,” which would eventually garner Washington his second Oscar (and co-star Ethan Hawke his first Oscar nomination). Fuqua was eager to show Washington and Hawke some of the day’s footage, but Washington demurred. As Fuqua recalls, Washington assured the director, making only his third film, that he was the one “flying this plane.”
It’s an experience Fuqua hasn’t forgotten — that moment of a master like Washington assuring the filmmaker that he trusted him and was down to honor his vision — and one that has guided the pair through five films, including the three-film franchise “The Equalizer.” The duo wrap the series with this week’s “The Equalizer 3,” which sees Washington’s vigilante Robert McCall taking his particular set...

In Antoine Fuqua's 2018 film "The Equalizer 2," Robert McCall (Denzel Washington) spent just as much time engaging in civic rebuilding activities as he did slashing criminal throats. He scrubbed graffiti off of the walls of his Boston tenement, read Proust, and handed a reading list -- including Ta-Nehisii Coates' "Between the World and Me" and W.E.B. DuBois' "The Souls of Black Folk" -- to a neighboring at-risk teen (Ashton Sanders from "Moonlight"). It was a film just as much about righteous indignation as it was about kicking ass and cathartic murder. It was an action film for the Trump era, depicting a strictly moral assassin attacking wealthy white frat bros (one gets his neck cut open by the sharpened edge of his own credit card).
Fuqua's and Washington's 2023 follow-up "The Equalizer 3," purportedly the final film in the series, takes a simpler tack. McCall's superheroism...

It's been five years since Denzel Washington last graced the silver screen as Robert McCall, but the Oscar-winning actor is back in "The Equalizer 3." The film is set to hit theaters over Labor Day weekend which, in essence, will put an end to the summer movie season and help usher in fall. The question is, will Washington help get the fall season started off with a bang at the box office? Or will McCall go bust in his third and final outing?

"Because of these people, I'm beginning to understand real peace... I believe this is where I'm supposed to be." Sounds good - I think we all feel like we're "supposed to be" settling down somewhere nice in Italy. Sony UK has debuted a second official trailer for The Equalizer 3, arriving in theaters in just a few more weeks. He's taking on the Entire mafia in this one. The sequel to The Equalizer (2014) and The Equalizer 2 (2018), originally loosely based on the 1980s TV series, sees Robert McCall in Italy taking on an entirely different kind of crime kingpin. After settling down in Southern Italy, his friends start to end up dead and he realizes he must now confront the dangerous Italian mafia head on. Denzel Washington returns, with a full cast including Dakota Fanning, Sonia Ben Ammar, Remo Girone, Andrea Dodero, Eugenio Mastrandrea, and Andrea Scarduzio. This seems like it might be badass!

The Equalizer franchise’s Robert McCall (Denzel Washington) has lived a storied life, taking a bite out of crime and stomping gangsters like Goombas under Mario’s boots. Before battling Russian thugs in 2014’s The Equalizer or taking on rogue CIA agents in 2018’s The Equalizer 2 and the Italian Mafia in The Equalizer 3, he undoubtedly tangled with other villains. For fans who want to see a young McCall in action, director Antoine Fuqua thinks it could happen, and technology could be the key to making it all possible.
Speaking with NME, Fuqua said he’s considered de-aging Washington for an Equalizer origin story. Low end forecasts have Sony’s Denzel Washington starring, Antoine Fuqua-directed action threequel, The Equalizer 3 at $30M+ over 4-days.
Some box office sources even think the sequel, which was shot in Italy, has a shot at $40M and that’s because of The Equalizer 3‘s big first choice numbers with guys over 25. Even Women over 25 is solid. The one pause is that the nine-year-old franchise’s audience is getting older, and that demo as we all know has a gradual pace to cinemas.
There are no other wide releases over Labor Day weekend, and National Cinema Day isn’t occurring over that four day holiday weekend like last year. Sony has Gran Turismo officially opening wide on Aug. 25, despite the fact that it’s been holding previews since last week.

Fans of The Equalizer movies are in for a treat as the third and final installment of the action-packed trilogy is set to hit the theaters on September 1, 2023. Hard to believe that a big star like Denzel Washington, who has an impressive filmography that features many audience favorites, only has been in one franchise in his career — The Equalizer series. Inside Man doesn’t count as the direct-to-Netflix sequel does not feature him. While the esteemed actor has starred in remakes, adaptations, and action movies prior, The Equalizer 2 became Washington’s first sequel. And now that The Equalizer 3 is on its way, this marks his first trilogy.
It’s been ten years since Washington would partner back up with the director of Training Day for his first go around as Robert McCall in 2014’s The Equalizer, based on the CBS television series that ran from 1985-1989. After having played him in three movies, the Academy Award-winning actor is finally ready to bid adieu to his first franchise. Empire reports on Washington’s conclusion of McCall’s story.
