Helldivers 2 fans are currently enjoying their win over one of the enemy factions in the game. Automatons were completely destroyed a while ago, and fans everywhere were pretty pleased with that development. As has happened with Helldivers 2 since its launch, things continue to change with this game as developers add small things here and there.
As things are settling down for a bit, players have gotten a chance to take a sigh of relief. At this moment, they have also decided to discuss the developers’ chances of adding melee weapons to Helldivers 2. The developers have yet to make a positive comment on it, but they haven’t denied it either. Encouraged by this fan, they have already started suggesting weapon types they would like.

Wattpad, a global multiplatform entertainment company known for its digital novels and data insights, is expanding into film development and will finance two new film projects, including one from “Children of Men” writer David Arata and another from Angela Lamanna, a co-producer on Netflix’s “The Haunting of Bly Manor,” the company announced Thursday.
Founded in 2006, Wattpad allows users to write, post and read short, text-based novels. Readers can engage with the content by commenting on the novel or “liking” specific paragraphs. This data is then used by the company to identify emerging trends within the platform — such as what type of content is being written about and engaged with the most. The company then uses this information to help studios create video content, with Sony Pictures Television, Hulu and more having all used the data. Currently, the company has 50 different TV and film projects in development with studios around the world.

After bowing at Venice where it was nominated for the Horizons Award, “Hava, Maryam, Ayesha” has its Asian premiere at the Busan International Film Festival. Directed by debutante Sahraa Karimi, it plays in the ‘A Window On Asian Cinema’ strand.
The film is a rarity in that it is an Afghan film made by an Afghani woman in Afghanistan, using local talent. The powerhouse behind the film is producer Katayoon Shahabi, who produced through her Paris and Tehran based outfit Noori Pictures.
Through Sheherazad Media International from 2001, and then with Noori from 2011, Shahabi has been championing the cause of Afghan and Iranian cinema. She served on the Cannes competition jury in 2016.
Noori’s recent successes include Vahid Jalilvand’s “No Date, No Signature” which won multiple awards at Venice, Las Palmas, Bratislava, Fajr, Stockholm, Thessaloniki and the Asia Pacific Screen Awards in 2017; and Jamshid Mahmoudi’s “Rona, Azim’s Mother” which collected prizes at Vesoul,...

U.S. President Donald Trump’s escalating pressure on Iran is taking its toll on the country’s film industry, with production slowing down owing to the crippled economy and international sales of Iranian movies — especially to U.S. distributors — being hampered by sanctions.
“The economic situation is a disaster for independent cinema” in Iran, said Paris-based sales agent and producer Katayoon Shahabi, who is Iranian and was a member of the main Cannes jury three years ago. “Inflation is slashing budgets and funding sources.”
The sanctions mean that “it’s basically impossible to sell to any country, not just to the U.S.,” she said, because for companies based in Iran, “you can’t receive any money.”
Shahabi’s Cannes slate this year includes Tehran-set drama “I’m Scared,” directed by veteran Iranian auteur Behnam Behzadi, who was in Un Certain Regard in 2016 with “Inversion.”

The $120 million multinational disaster movie “Inversion” leads a slate of two feature films and a TV series from Hong Kong-Chinese producer and financier Sun Entertainment Culture (Sunec). The two movies mark Sun’s English-language film debut.
Founded in 2011, Sunec has been involved in Hong Kong-Chinese co-productions such as 2017’s “Paradox” and 2015’s “Spl II: A Time for Consequences,” starring Wu Jing. But with the Chinese entertainment industry currently in turmoil after new tax rules have created hurdles for local financing and production, the company is looking to move in a more international direction, expanding into producing content in different languages as it becomes more difficult to produce in the mainland.
Disaster thriller “Inversion” tells the story of a Chinese scientist and an American pilot who must work together to save the world when gravity suddenly disappears. The project originally was set to be written by a team comprised of screenwriter,...

“Germany doesn’t exist on the map – at least for Us producers,” says Studio Babelsberg CEO Christoph Fisser.
German film studios and producers have stepped up calls for an automatic tax incentive scheme to be introduced to put Germany on an equal footing with such countries as the UK, Belgium and Croatia in attracting foreign film productions.
Studio Babelsberg CEO Christoph Fisser didn’t mince his words about the difficulties being faced when he declared that “Germany doesn’t exist on the map – at least for Us producers” and pointed that his studio hadn’t been able to win any new project to come to shoot in Babelsberg since May 2015 because of the lack of attractive incentives on the scale offered in other territories.

Samuel L. Jackson is set to add “the concept of gravity” to the very large list of things he’s tried to save in movies. (See also: Troubled teens, ghost-hunting John Cusacks, and this motherfucking plane.) Variety reports that Jackson has signed on for a role in the upcoming sci-fi movie Inversion, playing a senior Homeland Security agent pursuing two people (protagonists Liu Yifei and “street-wise American con man” Travis Fimmel) that he thinks are responsible for “a terrifying loss of gravity” affecting the Earth.
The film is being directed by Peter Segal, who who’re just going to assume has had his fair share of those “Hey, what if the floor was, like, the ceiling?” conversations that tend to crop up when people are sufficiently bored and/or stoned. Samuel L Jackson will fight a global gravity catastrophe in the upcoming sci-fi film, Inversion.
Since Samuel L Jackson happens to be one of the most omnipresent actors in the film industry, news that he’s nabbed a starring role in an upcoming sci-fi epic is hardly a stop the pressevent. Nevertheless, Jackson’s latest gig could uniquely see him join Ragnar Lothbrok and a Chinese scientist to fix the gravitational pull of the Earth! We fancy his chances, in truth.
According to Variety, Jackson will join the project, by the name of Inversion. In the film, Jackson will play a senior Homeland Security investigator who finds himself in the thick of a potentially perilous situation for anyone on the planet who enjoys constant gravity. Responding to the tough outlook for most independent films, Pinnacle Films is moving away from releasing a large slate of small theatrical titles and instead plans to focus on two or three wide- release commercial films per year. . Augmenting that will be a handful of smaller overseas and local .passion projects. such as the Spierig brothers. .Predestination and Craig Monahan.s Healing. . Pinnacle now looks to pick up films with name casts that have a guaranteed wide release in the Us, handled either by the major studios or the larger indies... . Its 2015 slate is headed by.Autobahn, an action thriller starring Anthony Hopkins,.Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything), Nicholas Hoult and Ben Kingsley; and The Legend of Barney Thomson, a comedy-thriller directed by and starring Robert Carlyle, with Emma Thompson and Ray Winstone. . .Our smaller films were struggling to get exposure with exhibitors, who have limited space for independent product,...

No one’s is ever going to launch an Oscar campaign for Need for Speed, but there’s a case to be made for unpretentious, action-packed popcorn pleasures like the racing thriller. Aaron Paul gave a mesmerizing performance, the stunts were spectacular and, perhaps best of all, it proved that helmer Scott Waugh (Act of Valor) knows his way around a slick action vehicle. Now, Waugh is set to dive into the deep end for a much pricier venture – a $120 million sci-epic titled Inversion.
The script, from Bragi Schut (Season of the Witch) and David Arata (Spy Game), follows a young Chinese scientist and a street-smart American ex-patriate who team up and race against time to prevent a cataclysmic reversal of gravity, which would send entire cities and civilians falling into the sky to certain death.
It’s an exciting premise, and Waugh’s background as a stunt coordinator should...

Need For Speed director Scott Waugh will direct the sci-fi epic Inversion, about two heroes trying to save the world from an apocalyptic end. Production will begin next spring.
Inversion follows two unlikely heroes, a young Chinese scientist and a street smart American expat, on a frenzied journey across the globe to save Earth from an apocalyptic threat – a total reversal of gravity that causes whole cities and civilizations to uproot and plummet into the sky.
The pic teams up Bragi Schut (Season of the Witch) and David Arata (Children Of Men, Spy Game). On board to produce are Michael Nozik, Markus Barmettler, and Philip Lee.
No word on who's going to star, but personally, I'm excited to see a sci-fi blockbuster with an Asian star.
Scott Waugh's last movie, DreamWorks’ Need For Speed, starring Aaron Paul, grossed $200m worldwide.
