In the style of Borat, or Jackass without the sickness, or the stunts.

Yes this is all fake, and yes the lines are being fed to Ed Gamble, (Georgie) and Amy Hoggart (The regal Poppy) but it is the reactions and the very sincere manner of delivery these two have that make the show.

I find myself laughing out loud at the simple manner in which our visiting duo are able to disarm, and at the same time mess with these unsuspecting people of all walks of American life. Just by being British there is enough that most Americans do not know, but assume that they do, so that when Poppy is snobby, or even a bit flirty (in her way) or Georgie is a complete seemingly inbred idiot, saying things that should completely offend people; it all just rolls off.

Every place that these two go they are welcomed, and they never miss an opportunity to shout their British pride, and give people little bits of the back story about their dead Father, or their Mum who needs someone to get her moving again, or their poor Uncle who was disowned just for being himself.

I personally have a crush on Poppy, the character, with her limited range of emotions, and her curiosity she is just such a treat, and watching her played out makes my week. I Enjoy the character of Georgie a lot also though, as there is no one that he is afraid to offend, and he does it so well they really just think he is ignorant.

If you get a chance to watch Almost Royal, I say treat yourself. You won't be sorry you did. There is not a lot of language, and very little even simulated violence, this is just a fun little show that feels sincere because of the real people who are invaded by these Brits.

Great British Comedy!

In speaking with the tone of the movie.. This show is TOP-NOTCH!

I am of the younger generation so I can resonate with the sarcasm quite well. Of course all the American stereo types, and the behaviour of poppy and Georgie blends beautifully with the preconceptions the Americans have of rich, arrogant/bewildering Brits!

We don't all drink tea 24/7 !! haha

Anyway, there is nothing more to say, except that this show is pure Gold. Sarcastic genius!

The level of satire brought by two seemingly clueless teenagers, trumps that of big funded shows like the office etc. and its success is in it's simplicity!

Without a doubt, if you understand and enjoy British humour, you cannot miss this show. The two characters are beyond priceless in their delivery of the writing.

I was surprised that Ricky Gervais wasn't involved in this production as his wacky sense of humour and sarcasm are very familiar in Almost Royals.

The writers must be congratulated on their superb writing skills; quite obviously there is not always the need for violence or sexual content to create an entertaining television production.

Thank you thank you BBC Canada for bringing this brilliant piece of work to us! Such fun.

Loving it and laughing more each episode!!

Yay....another season has just commenced in Canada 😂

It slightly reminds of Borat, but on another level and without the gross. Just pure humor and I already watched it 3 times as I laugh every time. If you can laugh at yourself you will LOVE THIS.

Bit hit and miss

Some scenes are funny and some are really awkwardly unfunny. The romance episode is really good, and the Tablecloth Trick scene has me in tears. It's a bit like Borat, but two Brits going to America instead of a Kazakhstani man.

This is hilarious. Wish there are more shows like this. Almost royal but absolutely funny and insane.

Took me one or two episodes to realize this was fake. But seeing the unwitting Americans reaction to George and Poppy and their pompous naivete is hilarious. Some of the things they say seems so innocent and yet are hilariously inappropriate. I'm hooked on this show! Georgie overdoes the aristocratic affectations a bit with the right hand constantly hovering over his right hip, but poppy is delightful!
