DECENT
SinhaSomesh30 July 2020
#FinalVerdict

Based on the French film Les Lyonnais (2011), Yaara is well adapted by Tigmanshu Dhulia - an avant-garde storyteller of the present times - to suit Indian sensibilities and the film will have you on edge of the seat as it unfolds.

Yaara is engaging in most parts. It starts off strong enough and keeps the momentum going till the end, though, of course, it goes back and forth at times and that could get a bit confusing. The viewer ought to stay alert and watch the goings-on carefully. As Yaara moves ahead, the narrative vacillates between engrossing and not-too-captivating moments. It also gets talk-heavy at times. The climax could've been more impactful. Also, the concept is too urbane. Tigmanshu Dhulia's dialogue is plain ordinary. The plot takes time to come to the point. But Yaara, in totality, is a well-crafted, well-executed film with the ensemble cast pitching in competent performances.

Siddharth Pandit, Ankit Tiwari, Shaan and Gourov Dasgupta-Roshin Balu's music is another asset. Cinematography (Rishi Punjabi) is first-rate. The look of the film is consistently brilliant. The background score (Clinton Cerejo) is exceptional. Each and every frame seduces you into the world that director Tigmanshu Dhulia recreates so delightfully.

The hard work and expertise of director Tigmanshu Dhulia are echoed by the entire star cast of Yaara. Not just the title leads, but each and every actor delivers top-notch performances. Vidyut Jammwal is simply outstanding. Amit Sadh is commanding yet again. Vijay Varma is in top form. Kenny Basumatary, Anuraag Pandey and Mohommed Ali Shah and Shruti Haasan pitch in terrific performances. Shreya Narayan, Sanjai Mishra and Ankur Vikal may not have many lines to deliver, but they do make their presence felt.

To sum up, Yaara may not be Tigmanshu Dhulia's finest work, but it has moments that prove his supremacy as a storyteller and his effort needs to be lauded. Watch it on for the intriguing characters and terrific performances!

Vidyut Jammwal should play Rambo
itsparth31 July 2020
Vidyut Jammwal should play Rambo, not Tiger Shroff. Vidyut is much more talented. Who agrees?

MEDIOCRE
himanishchakraborty30 July 2020
I was expecting a lot from this Tigmanshu Dhulia starrer Yaara, but I was really disappointed after watching the movie. It's not that the movie is too bad. It has it's moments but, it's only a few, and works only in parts. Amit Sadh was the only shining star in this otherwise mediocre action thriller. Even Vidyut Jamwal and Vijay Verma were too monotonous. Though, Kenny Basumatary was a surprise package. We always debate about insiders vs outsiders, but, we also need to understand that this is the entertainment industry and if you cannot perform well, it becomes difficult for producers to cast somebody Continuosly for a long period of time. Vidyut Janwal truly deserves a good script, which would do justice to his talent and would showcase him as an abled actor.

Poor Story without too much action
mayank-813-3786812 August 2020
I watch Vidyut's movie to watch action but this flick does not have much except a few scenes in which he did full justice. But the poor part is the story of the movie, a common basic theme of friendship. Well Vidyut, Amit and the other 2 friends of them acted well and as usual Shruti Hasan was not able to act. I would say if you don't have anything to watch, you can see this.

Watch only for VJ Normal story line. We already watch some movie basd on this story like gunday. Their are some point that could be make realistic but didn't it. In climax when VJ is in Romania and around actions are too irrelevant or unrealistic. But outsider of bollywood actor is movie is best. One time watch.

A solid film.
Achyut_Prashast_Singh26 August 2020
Yaara is an action-packed, intense story of friendship, betrayal and crime. It's good to see Vidyut Jammwal play a character than can be remembered for both action as well as acting skills. It's not just him, but also Amit Sadh, Vijay Varma, Kenny Basumatary and Shruti Haasan who complete the film and deliver memorable performances. The film is a little longer than 2 hours but the story being layered makes the film feel like a very long one indeed! The film is full of raw action sequences; gunfights are in plenty and there's also some cool "Vidyut" action as expected from him. The visual appeal is high and the production values seem nice. One and only issue is that there are too many songs; some of them come just after one is over! The only reason I excuse that is because they're all background songs with either some important scene or flashback going on. There are also some good twists injected into the story. All in all, Yaara is an exciting action drama that is a must watch for fans of any of the leading actors or this genre.

Decent story but trying to justify naxals and communist ideology
akashdeepad-5270331 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Honestly I loved Vidyut Jamwal and amit sadh performance . Overall Movie is good . But in the movie, director wants to justify communists Indology and naxals . They are showing that they are not naxals in Indian but revolutionary people . The director took the best action actor but not use it in movie. chukdi gang rob the money from rich separate it in the poor people this is the dream of every communist ideology person but in reality this is not the solution of poverty in this way only poverty increase in several ways I am saying this because I am a commerce student.

Amit Sadh's character

I don't understand the relevance of the character Mitwa. It was going well but last 30 minutes or the climax was not up to the mark.

Yaara had one of the best teaser and I was super excited to watch this. But movie is sheer disappointment.

Best part: Super cool retro clothes. And Vidyut looks too good.

Uninspiring
tapendu198531 July 2020
This was a bore fest, dialogues were very very poorly written. There are twists and turns, but they fail to generate any interest. Vidyut Jamwal has a commanding personality, but his built seems out of the place most of the time. His role choices are limited by his physique and voice. Kenny is confident and impressive, Amit Sadh was good, Vijay Verma was okay. Oh and Shruti hassan is no good as well, but didn't expect much from her.

waste of time.
vikasbadaun31 July 2020
The most funny thing in the film was a bank robbery sequence, where you do not see any public, except the actors, the Tyre puncture and shooting stuff was so unauthentic. the story progresses poorly and you get bore easily

An average movie
omdroindia3 August 2020
Expected a block buster movie with startcast like Vidyut, Amit Sadh, Shruti. But unfortunately does not meet expectations. Main reason of failure was less action and more drama. One time watch without much expectations
