Mildly entertaining
ericacohn4 July 2020
This show is okay for an episode or two, until you realize that every episode is the same. There is some type of competitive family conflict which eventually causes the family to come together to solve it. The words "together" and "competitor" is used in every episode. Of course they are all plastic trying to portray the perfect "beautiful" American family (more like an ad for veneers, plastic surgery and Botox), an apparent necessity for reality television. What they need to do is come together as a family and open up the closet door to allow Todd to come out.

Entertaining Southerners

This is another reality show that is not total reality. Still, I find "Chrisley Knows Best" an entertaining show in a lighthearted way. Honestly, I can't tell you how many times i have laughed at Chrisley and his reactions to various family situations. He has moments where he is hilarious - facial expressions and quick comebacks, especially. I am from the South and find the family totally relatable. Their accents, expressions, food, family togetherness, etc., are quite familiar. Each family member brings something interesting to the show and it makes for an entertaining show as a whole. Also, I appreciate the fact that this show is a reality show that does not shock you with their family values.

Chrisley does not know best
xenazues13 February 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I could have honestly gave this a 4 and been perfectly fine with this. This show is for all purposes, what is wrong with the American public image of what a perfect family is suppose to look like. And for all purposes its really more of a comical TV show. Most people good or bad reviews (and trust me i can read fast and love to read reviews but some of those were like watching paint dry in a thunderstorm) of the show do say its funny. No denying smarty, witty comebacks are what makes this show stay on TV. And eventually people will get tired of it and move on. Just like after the honeymoon your girlfriend wants more than just your "personality".

But for right now.... its on. Now the first season we saw the son. He his problem with drugs and was battling that. Then the getting along with the son in law. I really liked that one. Then also Kyle (his son through another marriage) baby Chloe. So this show started off well.

Yes this show is about a group of right white family members with a controlling dad who has smart ass remarks beautiful children (you can deny if you want but thats fine) and simply drives nice cars and has family issues. Thats this show. I think they were looking for more of something like their life. And frankly most people are pretty boring in real life. And honestly they don't have great comebacks. Probably most of their co workers at work don't want to be around them so I doubt a TV show would want to produce them.

You guys are just going to have to get over it. Its a white rich family who doesn't live a normal life. I said it, there it. But this show is hilarious. And they have their moments. And whether they make millions or just thousands of dollars, most of the families have the same problems. Who kids don't try to be sneaky and lie them or try to cover up lies? All parents know this all too well. From the time your child can talk they try to find a way to stay out of trouble or prolong it. In this case the parent isn't as witty with comebacks like when chase tried to take a girl to his range rover during a party and Todd goes "you are off the chain". The follows it up with "son i did that and have done that and have the t shirt to prove it, you are just watch the reruns".

This show has a lot of comedy in it. And it has a lot of reality situations in it. Will I be getting my step daughter a new mercedes when she turns 16? Hmm no. Model lessons? Probably not. But plenty of people daughters have had breast implants. How many parents make a cake? There is a lot of sense of humor in this show unmatched.

I took it down 4 points cause people sometimes see this and think life is perfect or that this is a bunch of rich people BS. And I really don't try to take those things away from a show. Its just entertainment people. Quit looking for a modern family to tell you how to live life. It seeks out its mission. Pure entertainment. Is Todd a nice guy in real life? Probably not, he got divorced from his wife cause she said he was too controlling. Is he controlling? Heck who knows, there are court documents proving he was divorced though and the show also doesn't explain Leslie and Kyle are from a separate marriage. At least I didn't get that. I had to read that online.

My girlfriend who doesn't like these type of shows found herself laughing a lot. Cause its funny. And its probably the southern sarcastic comments you only get in the south. Cause they shoot straight to the point and have sayings for days. A lot of people are right, its about a rich spoiled family, and Todd is a controlling individual but they are wrong because the results of the show, show a family and they have great points. Maybe if more fathers seen this and wanted to bond with their children more the world will be a better place. Not saying follow in Tod's footsteps but you can definitely learn something from this show. Cause those kids are about as normal as they come.

This might be the most deplorable show on television.
gmacfilms17 August 2021
These people are absolutely atrocious. I question the moral fiber of anyone who enjoys this trash. This might be the most deplorable show on television, and that's saying something.

Phony Plastic Mannequin Bunking in Prison
Johnny_West14 August 2019
This robotic plastic artificial humanoid just got indicted by the Federal Government. I wonder if the show will continue? Sadly, Chrisley and his family are a great example of everything that is wrong with the USA. It is like watching Nero fiddle as Rome burns.

This is what happens when...
ieditavid22 November 2022
A gay man can't be his authentic self so he pretends to love a woman, have a family and kids, hiding his true feelings, which manifests itself in unrealistic life choices and criminal behavior. Any given evening in whatever town he lives in, I bet you could find him tolling apps for Benji, a new "business associate". How in the world this fake man with his fake family and his fake tv show continue to profit from this fake life is unimaginable, Any network with an agreement to air this show should stop immediately. Who would even watch and find entertainment now knowing they are headed to jail? No thank you.

I love this show, it's one of my favorites and i love it even more that apparently, everyone else hates it. Why can't people accept that the worlds most seemingly homosexual man on earth is actually 100 percent straight? I saw Todd on Wendy Williams recently explaining how, that if he were to come out of the closet (which he's not in) and were to have sex with another man (which he's not planing on any time soon), that he would make a lot of money from it and his grandchildren would be set for life. He fully accepts being called a King or Queen and i appreciate his honesty. If anyone hasn't noticed, the world is full of butch gay men and queer-acting straight men and everything in between that and what is considered to be normal stereotypes. And let's not forget, 1 percent of the worlds population identify as asexual, for example Tim Gunn. The USA network is lucky to have this show considering most all of their other original programming is a complete and boring waste of time.

How is this still on
kymberleigh-7718024 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
How do people actually (still) watch this show?

You have a patriarch that is completely delusional. He claims to be a Christian but is so vain he makes Snow White's wicked step mother appear accepting and loving of who she is. God does not approve of such behaviour.

He claims to be straight. But what straight man refers to himself as a Princess? King, prince, duke, absolutely! Princess? No straight man even on his drunkest night would call himself a "princess."

He holds on to past accomplishments as though they happened yesterday and not 20 years ago.

Delusional.

And how he treats his mother. He should be ashamed of himself. Embarrassed and ashamed. Scripted, real, combo of both. Shame on him--

All that is sad and pathetic in and of itself but the saddest thing I ever saw on this show was Jay DeMarcus from Rascal Flatts showing up a few seasons ago. I lost so much respect for Jay at that point.

I do not know how people watch this. I can't even watch the commercials any more.

A Flamboyant Father and his Family
atlasmb19 November 2014
No reality show is for everyone. But I promise my review--unlike others here--will amount to more than just condemning the show because it is from the reality genre.

The Chrisleys (Todd and Julie) live in the Atlanta area where they raise their five children. The show is mostly a comedy driven by Todd's one liners, observations, and edicts. Much of the narrative is about the trials of raising teenagers, so you get the usual episodes about the new teenage driver or the perils of dating. This is very like "Preacher's Daughters" without the Bible verses.

You might be able to relate to them if you live in a 30,000 square foot home in a gated community and your children receive Range Rovers or Mercedes convertibles for their sixteenth birthdays. Seriously, though, the kids realize they live a charmed life. Even when they rebel, which is frequently, they know they have less to complain about than some other kids.

The show is not all comedy. It does tackle some real issues and situations, like drugs and a grandchild conceived out of wedlock. But there is never any doubt that love binds this family together.

Todd has been described as "flamboyant" by his son-in-law. Let's just say that you would not be surprised if he said, "Make it work!" He does play to the cameras, which is acceptable in my book. And the show includes brief sessions where the family members sit down and talk to us/the camera/the producers, depending upon how you want to see it.

Update 12/10/14: I think this show has become even funnier in its latest episodes. I am upgrading my vote to an "8".

Amusing Show!
conway30002 December 2021
No one is more surprised than I am that I enjoy this show. I laugh out loud sometimes! Lately I think the star of the show is Nanny Faye! She is such a character with good comedy timing. I learned about this series by word of mouth from my teen age niece - clearly the show has an audience. Part of the appeal is that they are all so relatable!

Who are these ridiculous people and why do they have a show?!
deblmills21 February 2019
I accidently came across this monstrosity of a show one night while spinning the channels. Why does this self-possessed gay guy and his self-possessed family (are those HIS children?) have a tv show? And it's been on since 2014!?! If a large portion of our society likes and watches this abhorrent mess, we are in deep ca-ca. Even if a small portion does...they walk among us! 😳

High star fun
natalier107410 October 2014
I am not sure why reviews are so low. People will watch other reality shows with sisters who have false hair, tight clothes and dumb conversations. This show is with a great family with some diversity beyond the superstar rapper or basketball player - and some of the funniest sayings I have heard. Raising teenagers can be harrowing...yet Chrisley makes a funny and yet real. He cant bear no fools. Would be fun to see other extended family included.

If you want to see another take on American family life with real issues with teenagers then Chrisley mows best is for you. I suspect his daughter will try to launch paparazzi status from this show and his son hopefully will not be a casualty of TV fame gone bad.

Another Rich A-hole and his dysfunctional family
larsonk22 October 2015
I don't understand the fascination with watching people who have gained wealth through their dysfunctional ways. Christley is irritating and the whole show is irritating. It is clearly an attempt to springboard off the Kardashian or Osbourne or Simmons reality junk programming.

There is no story, there is no acting, the characters are unlikable and self absorbed and neurotic. It is not therapeutic or redeeming for the Christleys nor the audience, it is the epitome of TV as a vast wasteland.

If this is what keeps you going to watch this dribble, enjoy. I have better uses of my time, like watching paint dry.

Not sure why it's lasted so many seasons
rtwice9355510 February 2020
So, I made sure to watch a few episodes from different seasons just to be sure I could rate it fairly. I hope the viewing audience that keeps this show going realizes this isn't true reality TV. I don't believe any part of this show is completely unscripted. None of this is done on the first take.

Maybe that's what keeps this show going; it's consistent and predictable.

What A-Hat is responsible for this show making it on TV for 3 Years?!!!
belinda_fevrier2 November 2017
How this misogynistic, homosexual (masquerading as a straight father/husband) got his own TV show is bewildering beyond words. What network genius thought that watching the spoiled, stupid, entitled antics of a bunch of moneyed idiots was a "good idea." This garbage has less redeeming qualities than the Kardashians, and that bar is very, very low. What really boggles the mind is it's repeated return year after year since 2014. Are you kidding me?!! I seriously question the taste level of this network and their viewers.

Funniest reality show ever!
Lsm3819 November 2014
I love this show! I love this family! There aren't too many shows that make me laugh out loud, but this one gets me every episode! I don't know why the other reviews are so harsh! Todd is the gayest straight OCD man I have ever seen which attracted me to the show in the first place! He is definitely one of a kind! He says the funniest things! His poor kids try so hard to get away with stuff but Todd is on top of things! What a hoot! It makes me want to be a part of this family! I have told so many friends, family, and co- workers about this show! I can't get enough! I wish it was an hour instead of thirty minutes! This family is very fortunate financially but they have a lot of the same problems that we all do! It's a must see! Please check it out so they don't cancel this one!

Todd needs to start being nicer to the pets
vricciuti-823642 June 2019
The little dogs on the show are adorable. If Todd really hates them then he should do that off camera. It's very offensive to those of us that have precious little ones with us all the time

This is for all the people that hate this show. This show is professionally scripted 100%. So don't take it so seriously. He is over the top but at least he keeps his kids in check. They are dressed properly...they are not out doing drugs and drinking or running around with the opposite sex at all hours of the night. No tattoos and he knows where they are 90% of the time. It's refreshing to see that for a change. He wants them to work so they can appreciate what they have and to take care of themselves. They really respect their grandmother.

More reality show garbage - this time scrapping the bottom of the barrel.
fwdixon17 May 2016
This is reality show programming at its worst, well maybe not Kardashian bad but that would be pretty much impossible, now wouldn't it?

Anyhoo, this particular swamp in television's vast wasteland is populated by a flamboyant, possibly closeted, extremely obnoxious know-it-all, his idiot wife and his obnoxious brood.

Apparently the USA network had exhausted all other possible suppliers of TV programming and had to choose between this worthless dreck and broadcasting a test pattern.

Personally, I would find watching the old Indian Chief test pattern preferable to the grating Mr. Chrisley.

Newton Minnow was right.

Entertaining family show
monicawilson-045182 March 2019
Came across this show by mistake and am so glad I did. As a New Yorker, I find shows about the south fascinating because everyone is so different. Yet, when it comes to good family values, love for one another, everyday family issues and of course laughs....it's universal, regardless of where you are from! I am hooked on this show. Just binged on about 10 shows in one day so far.

kaileeblanford29 July 2018
They are very humorous and it reminds me of how my family is. If you are okay with family members picking on eachother for fun than watch it. Idk why the reviews are so low when the chrisleys are generally funny unlike the Kardashian's. I feel entertained watching them

Closeted Chrisley
bonniath-1396827 December 2021
One of the worst reality shows ever. I watched half of one, and a few minutes of 2 or 3 other episodes. So, so bad. If these are real live people, I feel despair for humans. I swear Papa Chrisley is gay!!!! All his family are loud, plastic and trashy. Having lots of $$ doesn't give one class.

Show should be canceled. Pleeez.

They say not to but I do and have done all my life and have a pretty good accuracy record and before seeing the scores on this page came here to say that I see/saw the publicity cover/photo of the chrisley person smiling and pointing in my direction and I was overcome with revulsion at the thought of getting anywhere near...the reviews on this page describe why despite the intentions of the publicity experts to fashion a BS form of invitation the rot underneath seeps through...a ocular form of 'reek' or 'stench'?
