Clive Barker is back at it again, except this time it's for the kids. Shocking, right? The creator of the sexual and gory series, Hellraiser, is about to bring his horror expertise to the world of PG animation. A teaser trailer for the upcoming film Night of the Zoopocalypse was released in November 2024, leaving audiences craving more. With National Popcorn Day is right around the corner (January 19), the animated PG horror film has released a popcorn-centered clip and a new poster.
The animated clip shows off the wacky cast of characters, voiced by star actors David Harbour of Stranger Things fame, Scott Thompson from The Kids in the Hall, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee from The Mandalorian, and Gabbi Kosmidis of Netflix's Unicorn Academy. Centered around popcorn, of course, the clip offers a sneak peek into the wild world of the talking zoo animals. The children's film is inspired by a...

In these challenging times it was good to see that the horror community could still come together and pitch in and help out those in need. Here's some good news to cap off your day. The third annual Joe Bob’s Ghoultide Get-Together premiered on Friday, December 16th live on the Shudder TV feed. Briggs presented two films that night, Don't Open Till Christmas and A Christmas Horror Story. During the broadcast he and Darcy the Mail Girl among other things raised awareness about four charities who would get the proceeds from a charity auction run during and after the live broadcast. Viewers responded in spades and by the time the charity auction concluded days later it had raised over 200,000 to be split...

Since its release, "Krampus" has become a Christmas favorite of mine. "Rare Exports" and "A Christmas Horror Story" are often listed among the best adaptations of the Germanic legend, but I believe director Michael Doughtery's 2015 holiday horror flick has done the best job at bringing the titular mischief-maker to the screen. The story about a household being overtaken by Krampus and his adorable holiday minions introduces the centuries-old legend in a concise, hilarious, and thrilling way that only the filmmaker behind the influential "Trick 'r Treat" could have pulled off.
"Krampus" features a pretty spectacular ensemble with Emjay Anthony, Toni Collette, Conchata Ferrell, David Koechner, Adam Scott, Krista Stadler, and Alison Tolman. On top of all of that, the film nestles in quite nicely alongside "Gremlins" as a wonderful piece of holiday gateway horror. That's pretty much what the legend is, anyways.

We wish you a scary Christmas (and a gory New Year)! Horror fans enjoy a new bevy of Halloween-themed horror movies every October. When November rolls around, many of us aren't ready for our morbid form of merriment to end; and it's this void, perhaps, that's created a market for Christmas-themed horror movies. Sure, we've been seeing them sporadically since 1974's Black Christmas, but there's definitely been a surge in recent years. Whereas there used to be a few Christmas-themed genre flicks to pick from every year, there are now dozens of options for the holiday horror-seeker.
I'm 100% certain I've seen more Christmas-themed horror movies than 99% of you reading this, so benefit from my experience and don't risk picking a holiday stinker this season. You simply can't go wrong with the 10 films I've assembled below, but be warned: Some are absolutely not for the easily offended or faint of heart.

As far as I know All The Creatures Were Stirring is the second ever Christmas horror anthology movie, with the first being the highly entertaining A Christmas Horror Story.
This one has five segments and one encompassing segment which begins and ends the film as well as linking each other segment. In this we see a man and woman who are kind of on a date at a local theatre. They meet outside and once inside are introduced to a couple of strange characters until they are eventually seated to watch the show. The first part of the show then leads into the opening segment The Stockings Are Hung.

We’ve been long overdue for a new Christmas horror anthology. The last one released was 2015’s better-than-you’d-expect A Christmas Horror Story (review), so it seems appropriate that we are getting a new one three years later in All the Creatures Were Stirring. Just behind horror, believe it or not, my second favourite genre of film is ‘Christmas’. I will watch anything if it has a Christmas theme or is set at that time of year. So obviously when these two genres mix, I am over the moon! And there’s plenty of great Christmas horror movies out there. Even in the last few years we’ve had Krampus, A Christmas Horror Story and Better Watch Out. And I was hoping Secret Santa would be added to the list of films I will watch once a year.

With the passing of Thanksgiving 2017, the holidays are now officially in full swing! What better way to indulge in them then to make some hot chocolate, curl up on the couch, ditch your favorite book and watch Netflix? The big problem is that there is a lot of content to sift through. You've got all manner of holiday movies. You want to watch them all. There just isn't enough time. This is a sad reality of the Netflix induced, streaming world we now live in.
With time in such short supply, we've done the dirty work for you. Yes, there are more holiday movies on Netflix than what is listed here. However, for you to go through them all would take you the entire holiday season. Do you really want to start watching your Netflix holiday list in February? Didn't think so.
So, we have muddied through all the holiday movies for you.

Writer-director Robert Conway’s partnership with Uncork’d Entertainment began with his horror film “The Encounter,” about a camping trip gone horribly wrong, and continued with “Krampus: The Reckoning,” about a little girl’s relationship with Krampus, the dark companion of St. Nicholas who punishes “bad children” at Christmastime in horrifying ways. Now, he’s working with Uncork’d again on the Krampus sequel entitled “Krampus Unleashed,” which signals the return of the yuletide monster after a group of fortune hunters mistakenly awaken him after years of being dormant. Watch an exclusive clip from the film below.

Another Sunday and another installment of VOD Vault, taking a look at some of this weeks on-demand releases that have hit various VOD platforms here in the UK. This week we have a very seasonal edition, featuring two films that take a horrific look at the holidays…

Stars: Adam Scott, Toni Collette, David Koechner, Allison Tolman, Conchata Ferrell, Emjay Anthony, Stefania Lavie Owen, Krista Stadler | Directed by Michael Dougherty
Krampus has seemingly become the de jour villain in the horror genre recently. We’ve already had two movies featuring the evil anti-Santa, Krampus: The Christmas Devil and Krampus: The Reckoning; and now comes a third. Although unlike its seasonal brethren, this Krampus at least made it into cinemas – and so it should have. This is the latest film from director Michael Dougherty, who exploded onto the UK horror scene a few years back when his Halloween anthology Trick ‘r’ Treat was screened at Frightfest.

Horror films and holidays go hand in bloody hand with classics like Halloween, April Fool’s Day, Black Christmas, and… Friday the 13th? Sure, we’ll count it. (Hell, one of the best exists in print only — Mad Magazine’s “Arbor Day” is fantastic.) Horror anthologies have gotten into the mix in recent years with the likes of Trick ‘r Treat, Tales of Halloween, and A Christmas Horror Story, but while they all set their stories on the same day the latest entry is laying claim to the entire calendar. The simply-named Holidays features eight shorts, each set on a different holiday and directed by a different filmmaker, and as is the case with virtually every anthology film, they vary somewhat in quality — most are fine, but two are absolute mini-classics. Unlike some anthologies, there’s no connective tissue here tying the shorts together, and instead each simply ends with a greeting card displaying the title and...

Anthology horror films have haunted our cinemas and (mostly) home viewing schedules for many a decade now. From Ealing’s Dead of Night in 1945 to the recently released A Christmas Horror Story, numerous other titles, including Asylum, Creepshow and VHS, have sullied their place in the sub-genre’s history and the hearts of placated horror

Southbound is yet another horror anthology from the people behind the V/H/S trilogy. However unlike that series of films, Southbound actually gets things right. Perfectly right.
Southbound opens and closes with Radio Silence’s The Way Out and The Way In (in that order). A book-ending tale that introduces us to two men on the run, being chased across the desert by ethereal, skeletal grim reapers from which there is no escape. Especially when the pair stop at a gas station… We return to the same tale for the closer, discovering why the pair are on the run and why they are being haunted. Radio Silence’s opener The Way Out really sets the tone for the rest of the film,...

2015 was, without a doubt, another excellent year for the horror genre. Summing up what I thoroughly enjoyed in the past year was a daunting task, simply because there were so many rad movies, TV shows, toys, games, podcasts, and more to choose from. Here are my favorites of 2015:
The Gift: If there was ever a PSA for being kind to everyone you meet, The Gift would be it. All of the acting in this film is extremely solid, but Joel Edgerton (who also directed the film) as Gordo is the one to watch. I instantly gravitated to his character in particular, whose back story hit close to home for me. It would have been easy to go in a campy direction with a character like Gordo, but Edgerton brings a level of gravitas to this immensely sad individual. I saw the film at the cinema months ago, and...

Over the last few years, I’ve rocked out a Top 13 and Bottom 13 for the horror genre here at We Got This Covered. My thought process was simple – recommend the horror films you shouldn’t miss, and the worst duds you should avoid. But there’s just too much hate in the world today, and we need more positivity! We, nay – I need a change. So, instead of pumping out a generically snarky “Worst Of Horror” list for y’all this year, I’ll just recommend a few more horror flicks that Definitely deserve your attention, even if they didn’t make my top-tier cut.
There are still a good amount of films I’d love to have included here, but we must limit to how many lists pollute our search engines. For example, Insidious: Chapter 3 saw Leigh Whannell achieve success through his own unique vision, and while we...

Well here it is, my Top 15 films of 2015. If you’ve ever read one of my end of year lists, you’ll know that my choices tend to be a million miles away from the mainstream; and this year is no different! This year has been Amazing for films, I could easily had penned a list of 52 films – one for each week of the year – but instead I managed to narrow down the choices to 28 films quite swiftly. However, to hit this years target of a Top 15 (for 2015 geddit?) it took a hell of a lot of work. I think this list even surprises me – there’s a number of films that going back over the 508[!] films we’ve reviewed here on Nerdly in 2015, at the time I reviewed them, I didn’t expect would stay with me till the end of the very end of the year. Oh, and...

Halloween remains the big-gun holiday for setting and releasing horror films, but Christmas-themed tales of terror are likely a close second. Part of the appeal is simply staging mayhem against the most festive and selfless day of the year, but the holiday is also rich in cultural detail and legend offering filmmakers and audiences a far more textured canvas than the simplicity of masked killers can provide. 2010’s Rare Exports got the Krampus ball rolling, and a handful of straight to DVD features followed with titles like Krampus: The Christmas Devil, Krampus: The Reckoning, and Night of the Krampus. The mythical creature tasked with punishing the naughty among us broadened its cinematic reach with this year’s A Christmas Horror Story and will be seen next in Kevin Smith’s Anti-Claus, but in between those two is the creature’s biggest, most promising outing yet — and it’s from a filmmaker who knows a thing or two...

Looks like "Krampus" isn't the only film this holiday to get in on the scary side of Christmas. Thanks to directors Grant Harvey, Steve Hoban and Brett Sullivan, "A Christmas Horror Story" promises an extra batch of ghouls and goblins with your good cheer this year. Read More: Exclusive 'Uncle Nick' Poster is Full of Anti-Christmas Spirit The official synopsis reads, "Christmas is supposed to be a time of joy, peace and goodwill. But for some folks in the small town of Bailey Downs, it turns into something much less festive.
