An Average Show. ♦ Grade D+
nairtejas29 July 2016
This adventure has some good action for fans of that genre, but it seems logic wasn't invited.

When a popular Indian cricketer is kidnapped by an unknown assailant, the government sends Kabir (Abraham), a no-nonsense, disobedient, and beasty special ops officer, to Abu Dhabi to salvage the situation. He teams up with Junaid (Dhawan), a fledgling cop with a comic nerve. Together, they trace the cricketer's last known whereabouts, which becomes the foundation of the story.

The first ten minutes will intrigue anyone who is interested in thrillers, but Kabir's entry with the arrogant, to-the-work attitude plays with our patience. To add to the annoyance comes Junaid in his perpetually oversmart air, trying to find humor in every effing thing around him. The narrative throws in characters and special appearances like that malfunctioning automatic tennis ball thrower which does not stop at all. We have Akshay Kumar playing a homosexual man who wants to see the protagonists in their unmentionables, Jacqueline Fernandez who plays a small-time, identity-stealing thief, Rahul Dev as a left hand guy, and finally Akshaye Khanna in a role that he portrays quite smoothly. Be that as it may, the character thrower does not stop even towards the end. And over everything, everyone in Abu Dhabi seem to understand and be able to converse in Hindi.

Dishoom is just another of the mindless action comedies that rely on the lead actors' muscles and lead actresses' clefts; why else would they cast Nargis Fakhri in a 20-second role? There are a couple of twists and turns towards the second half which has the ability to keep the audience partially hooked. However, at the end of the whole charade, one WILL ask if it was worth it. And the answer will most probably be on the negative.

Abraham does what he does best: showcasing of his fit bod. Dhawan complements him, but in addition, tries very hard to be funny. It was great to see both Dev and Khanna after a very long time. They both do a fine job. Had no expectations from the actresses because all they do nowadays in male-centric films is flash their assets and laugh at their male co-stars' jokes.

The writing is stale, but the execution is what I have given four stars here for. Some good locations were chosen and some good angles in the photography. Overall, it's just an afternoon watch on Netflix six months from now.

BOTTOM LINE: Rohit Dhawan's Dishoom is a rundown action film where the unintended humor wreaks havoc with the story flow, which is not that great in the first place. Wait for TV premiere!

Can be watched with a typical Indian family? YES

All that glitters is not gold......
fillerruth28 July 2016
When I first saw the trailer I felt this is not a typical thriller movie and will be a good kidnapping drama. Casting also gives some hope because John is a good action movie actor, Varun has to prove more but he is liked by the youth and doesn't matter of her acting but Jacqueline Fernandez is a good choice right now. And the main attraction was Rohit Dhawan, he is the brother of Varun but not only that, he is a good director. His previous venture was Desi Boyz, which is a comedy movie but different story line and not a backdated storyline. These all things made me very curious about the film but you have to remember the saying, " All that glitters is not gold". This movie had a lot of opportunities to execute but the director didn't utilize them well.

I am not telling this is a dumb and boring movie or the direction is bad. I just want to say that there are lots of missed opportunities taken by the director and if the director would take them properly, The movie would be more enjoyable and funny.

For nowadays Bollywood is looking for numbers and stars. Not asking acting or fundamental storyline. They just demand the box office performance and the publicity. This movie publicized well and there are huge star cast in this movie which is also favorable for box office. But if you don't concentrate the details and storytelling style you have to suffer. Maybe you will have a good opening at the box office but after ending the weekend you will loose profit.

The movie starts with a good pace and the first half is quite good for comedy movie lover. The movie also keeps a good pace till the intermission and sometimes maybe you feel the suspense and the thrill which the director wanted to give you but after the intermission, the pace slowed and the second half is ridden by unnecessary dialogues and cliché twists. There is at least 15 unnecessary scene which would be edited. The twists and the story bending is almost predictable and sometimes the lead actors made some overacting.

Performance-wise John is OK. Varun is OK but if he avoids the overacting he would be good, Jacqueline is very cliché and she have to learn what acting is and body showing is not acting. Akshaye Khanna is good and he did nothing new for this role but I think almost it is a good comeback for him. Direction for Rohit Dhawan is OK but could have been better. Editing should be more polished and the screenplay was not bad. Songs are OK but not great. Overall it is OK movie and maybe the casting will make this a profitable one. My verdict is Semi hit or hit.

A buddy-cop movie that has its pros and cons. Music will keep you engaged throughout the film
oazam1 August 2016
Varun Dhawan will keep you to the edge of your seat with his comedic performance as a cop. The action sequences were executed perfectly just like the helicopter scene. If you're a fan of pure 1990 masala entertainment, then this is definitely a film for you which has a mixture of action and comedy. Pritam has successfully delivered good energetic music and would want to make you stay for more during the film just like Sau Tarah Ke. It makes sense that since this is Rohit Dhawan's second film and they put a song from Desi Boyz called Subha Hona Na De in a remix version. Akshay Kumar in his cameo appearance role made it bearable as well as Nargis Fakhri and Parineeti Chopra. Akshaye Khanna's comeback was outstanding. You would want to stick for more because of him the way he plays the role as the kidnapper of Viraj Sharma, played by Saqib Saleem who also played his role really well. Despite its pros, lets get to the cons. After Welcome Back, I lost hope in John Abraham although Rocky Handsome was bearable. This time his role was below average. He was too dark and very quiet at times during the film. Jacqueline Fernandez was average during 1st half but during 2nd half, it lacked some sugar that I was expecting. The direction of the film is something that was a letdown. Ayananka Bose did a good job with the camera-work but the angles felt like I missed something in the movie. The editing was too sloppy and I felt that the editor added to too much that wasn't needed. Overall, the movie is decent in parts but does have its flaws.

Horrible
neilp201231 July 2016
The review for this movie can easily be summarized in one word thrash.

The writing was uninspired and really didn't even make sense. It's like the writers were more focused on trying to fit in as many clichés as possible and not on an actual story. With the first half an hour you'll lose count of the number of clichés you've seen. There are so many clichés that you will cringe all the way through.

Apart from John Abrham the acting was not good. John Abraham managed to capture all that could be caught of his character but the other actors in this film showed that they only know how to do one thing and that is overacting.

This film's music was repetitive to the point in got annoying.

Honestly this film is a borderline human rights violation, watching it felt like torture. Oh and when at the start when it says, "no animals were harmed in the making of this film" that statement is very hard to believe when you lions chains. The purpose of the lions in the scene also didn't really make sense and just left you wondering what was the point of torturing those poor animals.

If I could I would give this movie 0

Worst film ever
astrokirkman28 July 2016
Watched it. Wish I had walked out. 1 star is too generous for this movie. Saddens me. Bollywood takes a few more steps back.

Varun is OK. John is a bad actor. Jacqueline was only good in Roy. In this film she is terrible Akshaye Khanna is good. Akshay Kumar cameo is nothing to write home about.

Disappointing from Rohit Dhawan. His first film Desi Boyz was bad but sad to say this is much worse. No evolution at all.

Another buddy cop film. But buddy cop genre is tough. Needs excellent screenplay and direction. Unfortunately both missing. 1/10

David Dhawan's earlier films were a lot more progressive than this regressive 2016 film.

Sajid Nadiadwala will lose his equity with films like Housefull, Dishoom and the upcoming Flying Jatt.

I don't recommend to watch this movie to anyone but recommend skipping it totally

Poor plot, cheesy scenes: skip & save time
vkap-1325229 December 2017
The movie starts out pretty well but goes downhill fast. The characters are shallow, scenes are cheesy and the movie wanders like a lost traveler in a desert. Only with songs and some action, they can keep the movie somewhat flowing. The usual climax scene is really bizarre and lame.

BTW, the movie glorifies not just smoking but violating non-smoking rules and regulations. What jerks!

Face Paced Drama!
prateekhemdev18 November 2016
The trailer of the movie did not create high expectations as it looked like a typical Bollywood action drama with John and Varun as these good looking cops. The movie actually was a pleasant surprise with catchy songs and sharp direction. Debutante Rohit Dhawan has done a great job by not wasting time and to the point story telling. John as an actor has not evolved a bit with his nice physique and poker face his performance is average. Jacqueline also is in her comfort zone doing the same poor performance. But, Varun has taken a lot of efforts to improve which can be seen in his chemistry with John. The exotic locations and Rahul Dev add some spice to the screenplay. Wagah played by Akshay Khanna is a total disappointment and in negative role evokes pity than fear. The overall experience was average and I would go with 7/10 for the efforts of Varun and Rahul Dev.

Not again-It is really bad
ajit21068 August 2016
So here we go again,an example of a run of the mill and substandard movie making, no entertainment value, not even basics of script writing are used. Dishoom is the product of sheer extravagance and star value. Directed by Rohit Dhawan, staring John Abraham, Varun Dhawan, Akshaye Khanna (after a long hiatus), Jacqueline Fernandez, Rahul Dev, Huma Querishi's brother, Sushma Swaraj lookalike etc.

Ace Indian cricketer Viraj Sharma is kidnapped just before the final match with Pakistan in Saudi Arabia. An Indian super-cop (John Abraham) arrives for the hunt and helped by local-cop Junaid (Varun Dhawan). The script is cheesy and messy, there is not even a protocol presented that an Indian cop is in the middle east and embarks like a vigilante, just by flexing his muscles. Many situations do not fit in any of aspects of life, be it real or virtual. The production value was high with some good locations and sets, but a bad narrative and acting make is a really bad movie.

John Abraham tries hard to act but was successful showing his muscles instead as always, Varun Dhawan tries to be a comic relief and buddy cop but was successful in overacting. There was no reason of Jaqueline's presence but she was there anyway. Akshaye Khanna, does what he was doing some years ago, his existence does not help much but at least you can see that someone is doing his part flawlessly.

So, if you are fascinated by trailer and grand looking action scenes, those are the only moments which are good, so watch the trailer again, if you miss the film, it is completely fine.

Not good.

Less in every field so should be called as Strictly Average Film.
SAMTHEBESTEST29 July 2016
DISHOOM REVIEW : Finished watching it on FDFS and all i can say is, its not that movie to work after Weekend on Box office. Basically trailer promised that Film will be full of Action and obviously with Mad Max Fury Action Director, expectations were high. But film broke all expectations and served them into small pieces. Less in comedy, less in action, less in humour, less in entertainment, overall less in everything. Film failed to impress but still entertained as other Average movies does. Akshay Kumar impresses in 5 minutes cameo. Details below -

Acting - Entire Starcast miserably failed to impress. Actually can't blame them entirely cause their roles weren't well written. In between John Abraham impresses as Rude Cop, some funny dialogues from Varun and Jaqueline looks hot in some scenes. Akshay Khanna came back on screen after a long time and failed to impress. Overall nothing impressive in Acting field.

Screenplay - Thank god it had only 2 hours run time otherwise it would have been headache. Film looks average at the point of Interval only then same scenerio continues in 2nd half.

Music - Title song starts the film and it's Rocking. Then no songs in First Half. '100 Tarah Ke' comes quickly after Interval which is situational song and its Bombastic. Then 'Janeman' at End Credit. Overall a Good music album.

Cinematography - Good but not great. Action scenes have been shot well.

Direction - Average ! The main problem is Director failed to keep film pacy despite small run time. Tried too hard to add all the elements but nothing worked big. This field definitely could have been much much better.

Final Words - Overall its Strictly Average Film. You will be entertained for some time but that some time actually comes for a while. This film won't work Critically as well as Commercially. Watch it only if you don't have any other option. 5/10* Stars by me.

Slapstick but good fun describes Dishoom! The combo of John Abraham, Varun Dhawan and Jackie Fernandes make for a good time pass watch. Akshay Kumar in his short guest appearance was also very good. Fans of the UAE will get their fill of Abu Dhabi shots in particular!

In fact Dishoom gives a good overview of cricket match fixing and betting, though I have no idea how realistically this has been depicted, some of it must certainly be true.

Dishoom does not claim to be an intellectual or art film. Its an out and out fun movie leaving you with a feeling of cheer throughout. Very often that is what one needs at the end of the day.

Dishoom on the face of Cinema lovers
prafullasrivastav29 July 2016
Rohit tried to recreate his dad's oldies magic with "Dislocated" script, Beautiful locations, some exceptionally brilliant chases and great bonding between John and Varun. Akshay Khanna was under-utilized. Jacqueline and Nargis were stunning. Great cameo from Akshay Kumar and Satish Kaushik through mobile. Dialogue specially one-liner can give you some sense of comedy. Pritam has given good Title track cum Moral anthem but disappointed with Item song "Jaaneman Aah".

1) Good to Watch: Chemistry between John Abraham and Varun Dhawan, Chase sequences 2) Not to watch: Brainless Script, Item song from Parineeti Chopra

Dishoom To Audience
youngaxqureshi3 August 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Story 3/10, Direction 4/10, Action 5/10, Comedy 6/10, Sound/Music 4/10, Songs 6/10

By Watching trailer , a Bollywood fan can assume that this movie will be full of action with weak story-line . but actually it does not have weak plot but also the bad direction. The scenes of a movie were not perfectly connected to each other also, the sound/music was too loud especially in action scenes. Action scenes were just OK nothing special. Only comedy scenes were good. The cameo of Akshay Kumar was very good and Varun Dhawan did a good job in terms of acting. Overall it is not a cinema type movie but you can watch it at home if you are too bored!!

Average!
namashi_11 August 2016
The Buddy-Cop genre hasn't been a regular in Hindi movies, but with 'Dishoom', it somewhat makes a comeback. Though the film isn't as fun as it should've been, its fast-pace & grand visuals make for up for it. Well, almost.

'Dishoom' Synopsis: When India's top batsman Viraj Sharma (Saqib Saleem) goes missing in Middle East, two cops Kabir Shergill (John Abraham) and Junaid Ansari (Varun Dhawan) from either side of Arabian Sea must team up for a 36-hours man-hunt before the final match between India and Pakistan.

'Dishoom' is fast-paced & always on the point. And that's its biggest strength. Its minus, however, is that there is no soul here. No, I wasn't expecting a soulful experience, but 'Dishoom' is just chew your popcorn entertainment. The first-hour runs on a rocket-speed & the camaraderie between its two leading-men, is fun to watch. Its the second-hour, where the pace drops. The journey to find the celebrated batsman is dragged for long & even the crispness wears you off. In short, 'Dishoom' has a winning first-hour, but a disappointing second.

Hussain Dalal's Screenplay tackles the buddy-cop genre & runs on a fast-speed, but is not up-to the mark post-interval. The Writing needed to be crisper. Rohit Dhawan's Direction is decent. Ayananka Bose's Cinematography is marvelous. 'Dishoom' is a visual delight & the ace cinematographer, nails every frame. Editing is sharp. Art & Costume Design are excellent. Action-Sequences are ably executed. Background Score is super. Songs are good.

Performance-Wise: John & Varun work well together. John dominates on his huge personality, while Varun oozes energy. But its Akshaye Khanna who steals the show. As the menacing bookie, Khanna stages a comeback & chews on the scenery. Jacqueline Fernandez looks stunning & delivers fairly. Saqib Saleem is decent. Rahul Dev is first-rate. In Cameos, Akshay Kumar is a riot & brings the house down. Vijay Raaz excels.

On the whole, 'Dishoom' is, at best, a one-time watch.

ROHIT DHAWAN doing ROHIT SHETTY , only better then him
anupapu829 July 2016
Warning: Spoilers
DISHOOM - Ask yourself a question. did you liked DESI BOYZ (debut from ROHIT DHAWAN {brother of Varun and Big son of David}). If the answer is yes , the you will definitely like this one too. I personally liked Desi Boyz a lot. Rohit Dhawan' sense of humour is nice. Better then his father , and also better then Rohit Shetty (at least what ever he is making now a days). And from the very end of Desi Boyz i have been waiting for the next movie by ROHIT DHAWAN. Although i was expecting more for DESI BOYZ 2.

But ROHIT is not the only reason for the excitement for the movie. 2nd one is that Varun Dhawan is a unbeatable actor right now. Not a single flop after 6 movies (although DILWALE came very close of being flop but at least it has earned its budget back). I don't remember any other actor doing this. 3rd will be the sub genre -Buddy Cop movies. Everybody loves them , from Bollywood's TU KHILADI MAIN ANARI to HOLLYWOOD'S bad boys. But let me tell you the biggest reason for my urge to watch this movie. Its AKHSAY KHANNA. Which i think is one of the most underrated and underutilized actor in Bollywood. He is not getting work at all. And i think he plays a negative character brilliantly (remember HUMRAAZ and RACE). Although his character is not that strong hear. But he can turn even a bad character into a good one (like he became the only saving grace in TEES MAR KHAN). At least he didn't made fool of himself like usually villains in this type of movies does. The story was simple. Top batsman of Indian team has been kidnapped , and two police officers have to find him. John played the tough partner (Akhsay from Tu Khiladi main anari , Abhishek from Dhoom series etc) and Varun plays the childish one (Saif and Uday in respective movies). But the good thing is , the story-line is not nonsense , like David Dhawan or Rohit Shetty or Aneez Bazmi do with their movies. There is enough writing done to manage the flow of the movie. It never feel too much stretched. There were some small investigation , many logical jumps which i cant complain because its the fundamental right for this type of movies. What keep the movie on its track is the Bromance (called by Varun's character BHAI WALA PYAAR). Both actors complimented each other very nicely. Pretty good help have been provided by the Dialogue writer. Shockingly Jacqueline's character was not half bad. And neither she was just there for unnecessary glamour. She actually did nice work as a supporting cast and performed really well in the song Sau Tarah Ke which was well choreographed , well timed and the only song in the movie . Rest of the two songs appeared in the opening credits and the end credits. Why i always say that i like Rohit Dhawan's humor can be judged by two cameos in the movie. One by Akhsay Kumar as a gay person and one by Satish Kausik (whose face never appears on the screen , we just hear his voice on the phone). Both these actor did an awesome job , and can be described as two of the best cameos in Bollywood's recent movies. They both will make you roll on the floor laughing (i will definitely like to see Akshay as a gay in a full movie). About action scenes , they were typical but very well done. So much similar to Rohit Shetty's style yet so much done better. Specially the last helicopter stunt was great. Cinematography was very glossy. Abu Dabi looked liked a heaven , place which cant be in this planet. Movie dragged a bit in the 2nd half , but well managed by the climax. One thing i would like to add that there were not much of the cricket match shown in the movie but whatever they have shown it was very rich. Looked beautiful as compared to the cheap visuals of Azhar. Its definitely because of the better and costly production design of the movie. The thing m saying is that every movie maker should know his limit , whatever budget they have they must make a movie which fits their budget , which will save them for showing their movie with cheap visuals.

So i enjoyed the movies , it's far behind from a perfect film but also a miles ahead of nonsense action comedies. Worth of your ticket price. At least i think so. 7.4/10 By ANuP APu KuMaR.

Style is preferred over screenplay and story
dineshprakash29 July 2016
Director Mr. Rohit Dhavan has visualized the film with style and grandeur. He successfully projects it too but due to weak story line and loose screenplay films lacks to cater the thrill and humor. Dialogues by Husain Dalal are good. Film starts on a thrilling note but as story unfolds that thrill becomes lame. Humor is stuffed in thrilling scenes to evoke laughter but it falls flat crashing the thrill too. The way they have conceived the scene and its logic is very clear in starting few minutes when at a high point, a cricketer fixes his dislocated shoulder by banging it on wall and this thing has been used in pre climax in further lame way. Gags don't go well with the film, like the person calling to Junaid's phone regarding matrimonial issue, it was just for the sake of end credit song. If this conversation would have been crisp then it must have worked in good way. A cricketer gets kidnapped, India sends an intelligence officer who lacks most of intelligence. He always flashes gun like a goon and doesn't believe in rules. A very intelligent kidnapper, who first traps the victim in good way that he is going to disobey his instructions but doesn't notice camera fitted red collar of his lost and returned dog!! Time limit of operation is revealed 36 hours but it looks that time has stopped for them. Film travels India to abroad and then another country by road with some time machine. Climax is treated so hurriedly and stupidity like they show India transfers 500Cr in just five minutes without taking any permission or any official meeting. When you lack in content then you must have come with blasts, grand action sequences and spectacular locations, which this film has in abundance. Most entertaining performance is Akshay Kumar guest appearance. He is just hilarious. His scenes were just OK but his performance made it very entertaining. Varun Dhavan as Juniad is very good, especially in comedy. John Abraham as Kabir is OK. Akshay Khanna as Waga is very good. Jacqueline Fernandez role was forceful as her expressions. A song "Sau Tareh Ke Rog Le Le' is good peppy song. Credit goes to music director Pritam and lyricist Kumaar and Ashish Pandit.

Not a strong enough Dishoom, Akshaye Khanna's part disappointed me
sowvendra4 August 2016
Warning: Spoilers
The only hope I had with Dishoom was Akshaye Khanna. This was supposed to be his comeback film and I was looking forward to the kind of presence he had in some of his previous films, especially Humraaz, as he had a negative role in that one. Alas! All my hopes were deflated. Except a few mildly strong one-liners, Khanna has nothing substantial to do in Dishoom despite being the film's main antagonist. He has no action or fight scenes with the film's two main leads, John Abraham and Varun Dhawan, maybe because two brawny hulks like Abraham and Dhawan beating up an actor like Khanna (who, I think, still has some credibility because of some of his films in the past) would have been terribly unwatchable. Dishoom, I felt, was saved by just two people: Varun Dhawan, and Akshay Kumar in a special appearance. Varun Dhawan repeats his cute-and-naughty-boy-next-door act from Main Tera Hero and Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and, trust me, he just excels in it. The entire film is tolerable only because of Varun Dhawan. His cherubic smile, his comic timing, everything added up to create an endearing character that made me smile even as I walked out of the multiplex thinking of Dhawan's character while everyone else had vanished from my mind. As for Akshay Kumar's special appearance, I wonder if his playing a gay character is a progressive step for Bollywood. Whatever, Akshay Kumar just charmed me. I wonder if Dishoom intends to be a gay-friendly film, because there are enough eye candies on offer: John Abraham, Varun Dhawan, Saqib Saleem, Rahul Dev, Tarun Khanna, Akshaye Khanna (if one seeks intellectual/mature-looking studs), and Akshay Kumar and his all-male harem as well. As for the rest of the film, the story is, obviously, forgettable and does not demand much thinking or logic. I hope this is not a spoiler: A bulldog plays an important role in the film. There are few good action and chase sequences (but nothing that we have not seen before) coupled with a thumping background score which also includes portions from that catchy song "Sau tarah ke rog le loon", and a Houdini-like act involving dislocation of one's shoulder. Other than that, there is a loud jingoism of the cricket kind. And other than that, and other than Varun Dhawan, there is Satish Kaushik doing a terrific cameo as a voice on phone (the kind of cameo that Bharati Acharekar did in Ritesh Batra's The Lunchbox➖and she too was fabulous in it). Check that out.

Just little above the average show
querty456731 July 2016
First half of movie is better than the second half. John Abraham has done an awesome job. Nargis looks hot in this movie. Its more towards entertainment rather than some serious action. No songs that are catchy . You will definitely forget them after you leave the theater. Casting is also good. Role of Parineeti Chopra is for name sake.Visual effects could be much better. But the recursive unrealistic scenes could have been avoided.Editor could have taken some time to get them edited. I don't know, why they move from the reality.Climax of the movie is just fine. Hand to hand combat are very less. These scenes could have added stars to this review.

Rohit Dhawan misses the bus again !!
akshay-ak-kumar20 August 2016
Rohit Dhawan needs to learn a couple of tricks from is successful director dad David Dhawan.

David who created his brand of comedy in the 90s with Govinda and Salman Khan ensured that his films were never boring and always maintained a balance between both halves.

Desi Boyz had an excellent idea but poor execution making it boring. With Dishoom, he makes good progress but again the curse of 2nd half strikes making the overall product neither good nor bad.

Dishoom starts extremely well. A leading cricketer is kidnapped and the Indian & UAE Govt has 48 hours to find him before the final. The Indian Foreign Minister sends John Abraham, a no nonsense cop to solve the case and he takes Varun Dhawan as his partner who cannot even find a missing dog. And joining them is Jacqueline, a thief in the hunt.

The 1st half is superb and I'm not kidding. Rohit beautifully tells parallel stories, one of the two cops going in search of clues and the other what happened to the cricketer. There are some good twists and the entry of Akshaye Khanna takes the movie to another level.

However, the 2nd half is bad to say the least. After interval, Rohit and his writers lose the plot and the movie becomes average. In the hunt of more clues, the heroes end up doing stupid things and I was left bewildered.

The climax could have saved the film but again the heroes beat the cricketer and somehow the cricketer has all the strength and with broken bones goes on to play the finals. Wow.

However, there are good things in the movie. John Abraham is nice playing the tough cop while Khanna in spite of the poorly written character plays the villain deliciously. Jacqueline is the beauty show piece.

And then there are two brilliant comedy sequences which will leave you to splits. One where Satish Kaushik calls Varun as prospective father in law and Akshay Kumar as a homosexual man. Kumar is simply brilliant and I bet you can't stop laughing when he delivers one after another cheesy dialogues.

However, this is a Varun Dhawan film. And boy he delivers in style. When he is on screen, the movie lights up.

There is only song in the movie which is good and Rohit is smart to keep the pace fast and movie short.

A time pass film.

Dishoom Delivers a Masaledar Punch.!!
kumarvarun19892 September 2016
Dishoom rejigs the buddy cop movie, with John Abraham and Varun Dhawan being assigned to the "Case Of A Vanishing Indian Cricketer". The film is fashioned as a fast-paced caper. It's got flash but the plot keeps stuttering and stops the film from really zip-zap-zooming. And in the second half, it nose dives, meandering off in some Arabian Nights style fantasy space before remembering what it had set out to do.It begins with promise. Match-winning boy-in-blue Viraj Sharma (Saleem) disappears just a couple of days before a crucial match with Pakistan. Indian Special Task Force cop Kabir Shergill (Abraham) is parachuted into a Middle Eastern country, which is the site of the crime. Local boy Junaid Ansari (Dhawan) partners with the visitor, and off they go, sleuthing. The slit-eyed stony-faced experienced cop and the bumbling rookie is an old Hollywood cliché but can turn into fun in the hands of good actors and directors: here, Dhawan and Abraham display limited wares, the former in his young wide-eyed joe avatar, and the latter swathed in tight tees and a permanent frown, swaggering down sandy desert outposts and shadowy villains' dens. Both also get to shuck their shorts and show off their stuff in colourful briefs. The boys have comely female company in the shape of the two gals, Jacqueline Fernandez and Nargis Fakhri, the former with a few speaking scenes and an item number where she cavorts in the midst of leering men, and the latter who's around for purely decorative purposes.Dishoom's villains are a letdown, not even properly evil in a matching comic-book way. Neither Rahul Dev nor Akshaye Khanna have any menace: for fellows who keep threatening to off their victims, they are curiously minus impact.

Indian Action Comedy with John ABRAHAM
ZeddaZogenau26 March 2024
An important cricket tournament is taking place in Abu Dhabi. After exciting semi-finals, arch-rivals India and Pakistan are in the final. Then the unthinkable happens: the Indian team's most important player, Viraj (Saqib SALEEM), disappeared shortly before the final. A state of emergency is declared in New Delhi and India's best agent, Kabir (John ABRAHAM), is sent to Abu Dhabi. Together with the local police newcomer Junaid (Varun DHAWAN), super agent Kabir goes in search of the missing athlete...

A classic Bollywood buddy cop movie, largely shot on location in Abu Dhabi. Unfortunately, the film isn't exactly original. Nice pictures, quick cuts, but there are major problems with the script. Other roles include Jacqueline FERNANDEZ as a pickpocket, Akshaye KHANNA as a sports betting operator and Akshay KUMAR as an obscure party animal. John ABRAHAM (PATHAAN / FORCE / ROCKY HANDSOME) and Varun DHAWAN (STUDENT OF THE YEAR / BADLAPUR) form a typical, unequal buddy team. Nothing new, but there is plenty to keep you entertained.

The film was released in Indian cinemas on July 29, 2016 and grossed 119 crore worldwide. There is also singing, the catchiest song is certainly SAU TARAH KE.

Undemanding entertainment guaranteed!
