Sex & Nudity

  • In one scene, Aaron tells Sara that after killing his targets, he used to sleep with his victims in the grave without wearing anything
  • Full frontal nudity for an extended time of Aaron(Mark Duplass) and then Sara'a (Desiree Akhavan) breasts are shown when Aaron tells that the clothes are just the border between two humans
  • A woman climbs into a hot tub with a man and begins rubbing his shoulders sensually. He is clearly pleasured by this. The man is shirtless but wearing a bathing suit and the woman is fully clothed.
  • There is a scene showing full frontal male nudity including a penis and genitals, and a woman's bare breasts can be glimpsed in the same scene. Non-sexual.

Violence & Gore

  • A man attempts to kill himself by getting hung at the staircase. He also tries to convince a woman to decapitate him with an axe but she refuses.
  • A man slices another man's throat quickly, with a splash of blood on the wall seen throughout the scene
  • A man is hit in the head with a full force shovel swing. Blood is shown splashing onto the camera.
  • A man stabs himself many times while recording somebody watching it. Blood is shown coming out of his stomach afterward and he gives the knife to the person watching, but they run away. He chases her down and stabs her repeatedly in the distance but it is too dark to see any details. They are both bloodied afterward but survive.
  • A lot more violent than the first film, but the violence is still not graphic and doesn't show too much. Overall the content is moderate and although bloody, not on par with most horror films. It is still disturbing.
  • We see video footage of a man having an axe plunged into the back of his head numerous times while he sits on a bench. While no blood is seen, this is disturbing and violent and is also quite realistic. Unlike the first film (which the clip is taken from) more than one of the axe strikes is shown and the clip is displayed entirely.

Profanity

  • 26 instances of "Fuck", 12 uses of "Shit", a few of "Damn"/Goddamn.
  • The language is strong especially compared to the first film.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Responsible use of alcohol in the later parts of the film. No drug use or smoking.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • If the film was rated by the MPAA it would be rated R for some violence, language and a scene of graphic nudity.
  • Although all content (violence, profanity and nudity) are stronger than the first film, it is not as disturbing or bleak and has a bit less of a horrific tone. It is still a very suspenseful and sometimes disturbing film.
  • The erratic, creepy and strange behavior of the antagonist can be kind of intense but darkly humorous.
  • Less scary than the first film as it has more of an emphasis on charector study and (at times) dark comedy.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • Aaron stabs himself with knife several times
  • Aaron kills Dave with a knife
  • After catching up with Sara, Aaron stabs her a few times with the knife. This is behind a tree in the distance, so no blood is shown, but we do hear her screaming in pain and agony. Later, when Aaron is having a monologue in front of the camera, Sara crawls outta the grave he dumped her in and supposedly kills him with a shovel before running away, leaving the camera behind.
