Not only Darcy Ribeiro's Brazil, but Darcy Ribeiro's Latin America!

A good political documentary that, despite its title, it is not properly about Brazil and not fully dedicated to Darcy Ribeiro. There are mentions about his experiences in Brazil under military dictatorship and his exiles. However, as in his second exile he was an advisor of president Salvador Allende and Velasco Alvarado, there is also a detailed discussion about Chile and Peru. On Allende, the film discusses his democratic path towards socialism; the schemes of the United States to avoid the government investidure, to dampen Chilean economy, to spread a false negative view about Allende's private life; about the role of mainstream press and media to produce instability and weaken nacional left-wing government; the planning of a "legal" coup through impeachment and the military coupt itself, backed by USA with the betrayal of Pinochet against Allende. There are good quality interviews with important intelectuals and people close to Allende. As mentikned, there is also an important discussion about the progressive military government of Velasco Alvarado in Peru, that also had Ribeiro's cooperation, and his experiences among Indians in Peruvian Amazon.
