Ten strangers are persuaded to retreat from their troubled lives and travel to Soldier Island, an isolated rock off the Devon coast, where all is not as it seems.

Seven strangers are invited to a weekend house party on Soldier Island by the anonymous Mr or Mrs U.N. Owen, along with domestic staff Mr and Mrs Rogers and Vera Claythorne who has been offered a secretarial post. There is no host to greet them but Rogers is instructed to play a record, which names them all as being responsible for a death for which they were not caught and punished. There is the children's rhyme ending And Then There Were None in each room and ten miniature figures of soldiers on the dining room table. One of the guests is revealed to be an impostor but then another dies in the manner of the first little soldier and next day a second victim is claimed in the same way and two of the model soldiers have been removed.—don @ minifie-1

IN 1939, the mysterious U.N. Owen couple invites seven strangers for a weekend party to their luxury estate on spooky, rocky Soldier Island off the English coast and engages three staff members, the seasoned couple butler Thomas and cook Ethel Rogers plus the brand new secretary Vera Claythorne. After a dinner where the ten barely get to meet each-other, instead of a host appearance a record is played, accusing each of the ten of at least one murder and spelling judgment. Haughty playboy and car speed evil Anthony Marston is the first to experience it's for real, fatally poisoned. One guest reveals being a police detective and instructs everyone to wait for the official investigation, without covering up any embarrassing evidence. A second murder occurs and a bizarre set of ten stylized soldier figurines is seen to be reduced one piece after every murder. Some of the initial indignant declarations of innocence are altered.—KGF Vissers
