In 1989, three boys find a wounded man in their shack where they like to play. They believe the man is dead, but out of the blue, he points his gun to them. In the present days (2014), the body of Roger Mathers is found in Ellis Spring with a shot in the chest in the same location nearby the railroad tracks. Local Sheriff Combs tells Nick that twenty-five years, Roger and two of his friends found a thief of an armed robbery in the shack and one of the boys was killed. In accordance with the urban legend, the money as never recovered. Nick talks to Tyson Briggs, one of the kids that survived, and he says that Roger returned to Ellis Spring to look for the money and did not mention Scotty Gates, the boy that was killed in 1989 and the body vanished. Finn and Greg recover the files from the original case and learn that the brothers Paul and Ben O'Malley robbed the house of the mob boss Michael Scarno, including a valuable sculpture of a stone lion that worth ten millions dollars. They examine the old evidence and find a partial fingerprint on the eyeglass like the one found in the photo that was with Roger. The two partial matches with former Deputy Sam Bishop that worked with Sheriff Combs and left the police two weeks after the incident, and he becomes a suspect of the cases. Meanwhile, Brass is informed that his daughter Ellie had an OD in the prison and is in the hospital. He stays with her in the hospital with she fights for her life.
" Dead in His Tracks" is the last episode of the Fourteenth Season of "CSI" and does not end in a cliffhanger like in another seasons. The presence of Treat Williams that we have recently lost is a plus in the show. The plot in the end may be summarized in two father and daughter drama in the end. My vote is eight.
