Hackwork
This Dorcel feature is a loser made by a Spanish director name of Bobby Peru, fresh from film school and lacking in talent. I have seen his later disaster, 2 of 3 parts (3rd never released) of a Steampunk trilogy, and this earlier movie is only slightly better.
Speaking in pidgin English (he keeps referring to the movie's story as "history"), Peru is quite pretentious describing a show listed on the clapperboards as "After Party Bit*hes".
Carla Cox as a deejay named Lady Cue-T is the real star of the movie, though Dorcel superstar Anna Polina gets the billing. What passes for a story has Carla endeavoring to get gal pal Anna to loosen up and live it up in Barcelona, as her husband doesn't satisfy her sexual needs. It turns out that folks are plotting against Anna but that element of drama and intrigue goes nowhere in a show that is 100% hedonism.
Dozens of extras appear in lots of dancing around scenes supposedly depicting Barcelona night life and those title parties, but Peru stages them with the artificial phoniness that makes so many 1960s teen movies seem so quaint. One such party briefly spotlights a beautiful redhead, who goes uncredited (she has no sex scenes) but we find out is a Spanish star named Myriam thanks to the "Making of" featurette on the DVD.
Cox is terrific here, and Tiffany Doll is also on hand to provide some d.p. action. Polina is ill-served with this vehicle, and fortunately it appears to be the only project Dorcel ever assigned to this director.
