I had low expectations for this movie but my god it was so hilarious
Amazing cast with in my opinion Jason Momoa being the MVP of this movie
The popularity of the video game and the viral videos on social media is what made this movie a box office hit
Rather you're a fan of the video game or not trust me you will enjoy this movie to the fullest
I think this is the beginning of an amazing franchise
It's a stupid fun movie with great comedy, fun action and awesome visuals that everyone could enjoy to the fullest
Don't let yourself go by the critics because at the end of the day you should be the judge of your own opinions.

Genuinely, this movie was so shocking in the best way possible. The trailers did NOT do it justice. From start to finish, it was entertaining, funny, silly and ridiculous. The Digital Effects are great, and so is the acting. It was surprisingly violent too. It had some pretty.. shocking imagery to say the least, and could definitely scare younger viewers. I'd been expecting this movie to be written weird, with lots of plotholes and forced dialogue, but oh was I wrong. This is a genuine funny little comforting movie, that anyone could find enjoyable. This is absolutely one of, if not my favourite video game movie interpretations. Good job, Mojang!

The Minecraft movie is a blast from start to finish, delivering a colorful, exciting adventure that captures the heart of the game while adding a cinematic story.
The animation is absolutely gorgeous - the familiar blocky style has never looked better, and the action scenes are both creative and thrilling. From lush jungles to fiery Nether fortresses, every location feels alive and true to the Minecraft world.
The main storyline about a young builder trying to save their home is touching and well done. The characters are fun and easy to root for, and the movie is packed with humor and references that fans will love. However, there are a few small problems - especially the subplot with the school principal, which feels a bit rushed and out of place. It doesn't really connect smoothly with the main adventure, and it could have been developed better or even left out.
Even with that small flaw, the movie is full of heart, excitement, and creativity. It's perfect for Minecraft fans of all ages, and even people who don't know the game will have a great time.
A few bumps along the way, but overall an amazing andventure.

Loved the story, love the action, love the enderman, love the sheep. But it felt too fast-paced-I wish it had slowed down a bit to let everything sink in. Would love to see a Part 2 because there's so much potential for more! The creativity was incredible, making the whole experience truly enjoyable. Jack and Jason made it even more special with their unique roles, adding depth to the journey. The world-building was fantastic, and I appreciated the attention to detail. Overall, an amazing experience that I'd highly recommend, just hoping for more in the future! So many hidden easter eggs 10/10 would watch again.

Minecraft is probably the most important game of recent years. I grew up alongside it, watching its rise on YouTube and seeing it become an empire. I have a lot of personal memories with the game, especially during the pandemic, when it might have been the thing that kept me from going insane. Basically, Minecraft has been with me throughout my journey.
That said, and making it clear that I'm a huge fan, news about a Minecraft movie has been around for a long time. At first, there were talks of it being an animated movie (which initially seemed like the best choice to me), but then it was officially announced, and we got the first trailer. And yes, like everyone else, I felt frustrated and even embarrassed by what I saw. But then came the second trailer... and the third... and things started to look better. But did they really?
The movie follows a guy named Steve, who discovers the Minecraft world through a magical block. Eventually, this block makes its way back to Earth, and years later, our protagonists end up in the block world. That's basically the plot. But really, don't watch this movie expecting a logical story or deep themes-that's not its purpose, and it makes that very clear. This is actually the film's biggest strength: it fully embraces the ridiculous with a solid cast, but the real standouts are Jack Black and Jason Momoa. My god, they are both incredible, ridiculous, and absolutely hilarious.
Don't get me wrong-this isn't a movie with great acting performances, but it doesn't have to be. Instead, it presents younger audiences (and fans) with a respectable CGI adaptation of everything that makes Minecraft unique. You've got constructions, farms, mobs, dungeons, and crafting. The core of the game is well represented here, all while leading to a silly, fun conclusion that serves its purpose.
To wrap things up, Minecraft: The Movie is surprisingly good, especially compared to how awful the first trailer made it seem. It's a goofy film that fully embraces its chaotic nature, with a variety of fun characters and an incredible duo in Black and Momoa. So after all these years, I can finally say I'm satisfied with the movie adaptation of a game that means so much to so many people.

This movie is pure, all-American entertainment.
I see lots of reviews saying "I'm not the target audience" and then leaving it 1-4 stars, which is a shame. People seem to forget that not every film is made for serious adults.
If you go into this movie expecting Oscar worthy material, you're sure to be let down. If you go in understanding that it's a movie based on a video game, you may have the chance to appreciate its beauty. Both of my children loved the movie, and that's the real target audience here.
Ratings breakdown: PLOT: 9/10, VISUALS: 10/10, AUDIO: 9/10, ACTING: 9/10, OVERALL: 9/10.

OMG I just saw a Minecraft movie and it was so funny bro. Every time Jack Black was on screen he could not stop making a joke every two seconds. It was so funny. There was a villager sub plot that had me cracking up so much. Jack Black has Steve has a great casting Jason Mammo as the garbage man was incredible. I loved Emma Myers as Natalie she was awesome. The movie cannot stop making a joke and it was so worth it the movie while having flaws covers it up with all of its funny and goofy moments that cannot stop for even a second. This movie needs more love and support, even though it's not the best movie from a filmmaking perspective I promise you it will make your day make you laugh and make you have a fun time.

The Good: It's a riot!
The Bad: It's a riot!
The Verdict: WTF did I just watch? "A Minecraft Movie" is an awesome throwback to days before the early 2000s, before a time where, what I call, "The Jason Bourne/Batman Begins Effect" took hold of movies and everything was a political and/or psychological deconstruction of modern storytelling. To put it simply, this movie just DGAF. It's only agenda is it doesn't take itself seriously, despite a subtle commentary on growing up and the death of creativity in a digitally-evolving world. Easily the best video-game based movie compared to the rest of recent times (I'm judging you-- "Mortal Kombat" (2021), "Borderlands" (2024), "Sonic The Hedgehog" (2020) (a threequel already? Really?! The 1st wasn't even that good and only did well as a protest against the criminally underrated "Birds of Prey (and The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn" (2020), but I digress). Anyway, this latest entry from Jared Hess ("Napoleon Dynamite" (2004), "Nacho Libre" (2006)) should be awful, awful, a thousand times AWFUL... but it isn't! It's just a hella fun, dumb, crazy, trippy romp through 16-bit imagination and it works! The cast are spot on, the plot is minimal, and the tone is consistent. If I had to find a flaw, it'd be the 3rd act which dragged on a wee bit, but that's a minor criticism. A perfect movie to kick start the weekend and to nurse that hangover afterwards. It's a mash-up of "Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle" (2017), "Barbie" (2023), "Kangaroo Jack" (2003) and your favourite stoner/bromance comedy. Moreover, like the rise in modern retro-gaming-- next-gen graphics can't beat good, old-fashioned gameplay. I had a blast!

A Minecraft Movie is a fantastic adaptation that truly captures the essence of the game. Unlike many other video game movies that fail to stay true to their source material, this one perfectly embodies the spirit of Minecraft. The blocky world, the survival mechanics and the creativity that defines the game are all present making it feel like an authentic experience rather than just a generic adventure set in a Minecraft-inspired world. The story is engaging, balancing humor, action and the charm of exploration that players love. The visuals remain faithful to the game's aesthetic and the characters are good, making it an enjoyable watch for both fans and newcomers. If you've ever spent hours building, surviving or adventuring in Minecraft, this movie feels like a celebration of everything that makes the game special.

Look, if you're going to this movie you're well aware you're not going to be watching a cenimatic masterpiece so lower your expectations people. It's not winning any Oscars but it was quirky, funny and my kids really enjoyed it because they love playing Minecraft. This is a fun movie. Is it stupid? Yes. Is it hilarious? Yes. Is it cheesy? Of course. Jack Black is always delightfully crazy and funny so I knew he wouldn't disappoint lol. I was surprised how much Jason Momoa cracked me up. He's a great comedy actor and he nailed his character. Do more comedy Jason! The cast is great, the plot is decent and I really liked the ending. I know without a doubt we will be buying this movie and watching it again. Also Jennifer Coolidge was hysterical in her side plot with the villager. Comedy gold. I took off one star because this movie is rated PG I was surprised at how many curse words were in it for a PG movie aimed at kids.

While the plot may tread familiar ground, adhering to well-worn tropes that audiences have encountered countless times, the film skillfully rises above its formulaic narrative through sharp wit and captivating performances. Each character is brought to life with a blend of charisma and depth, making their interactions both relatable and entertaining. The cleverly crafted dialogue sparkles with humor, often leading to unexpected comedic scenarios that keep viewers chuckling throughout. Despite its predictable storyline, the film is replete with charming moments and clever escapades, ensuring a thoroughly delightful experience that engages and amuses from start to finish.
As a gamer, this was worth the watch. I live that a legend was mentioned. I very much adore how good this movie is. It's very well made. I love the plot. It's very comedic too. The actors and actresses where very talented. The overall graphics and animation is so good. I love it so much. This movie is good for family bonding in the cinemas. My companions enjoyed it so much. Jack Black is amazing as well as the others. Even the film crews did a great job. Being a player of this game, it was amazing to see it in live action. So that's why this was worth the ticket. I love it so much. I suggest this.
The low reviews are way to serious. This movie is meant to be fun, visually pleasing, play homage to the game and make children happy. It achieved that in spades. As a parent who has played Minecraft for hours and has a kid who is really into it I was thrilled. Going into the movie most of us who enjoyed it knew it wasn't meant to be The Shawshank Redemption. If you're looking for a movie that will make your kids smile and laugh this is the one. Lots of scenes the kids were excited to see something they have done or seen in the game. Overall it was a fun family experience. All the actors threw themselves into and you can tell they had fun.

Review from my kiddo: "That movie was awesome!" "It had so much adventure!" "Definitely my favorite characters were Dennis and the 'Flying Iron Golem'." <- Okay, so, mayyybe that's not the most comprehensive or in depth movie review you've ever read but, there it is. From an adults perspective? I loved it because my kid loved it. And the packed theater (full of other kids and their parents) all seemed to really like it too. I laughed, which is unfortunately rare for me during a movie so that's a plus! Jason Momoa was the star of the movie in my eyes so, if you already are a fan, he's great in this. I'm not superrr familiar with Minecraft though. So the only feedback I have for someone who plays Minecraft, builds Minecraft Lego sets, etc. Is the review from my 5th grader. The only issue or flaw would be that "the story" or plot isn't very solid but, I'm guessing most kids under 12 probably don't seem to care much about that stuff. I mean, it was entertaining and I had fun watching it which is NOT always the case when the kids choose the movie so, just sayin'.
I've been a fan of the video games for many years now and all I can say is the the movie perfectly replicated the enjoyment I had when I was younger whilst being funny as well as entertaining. I felt that the movie was perfect for a wide range of people of different ages as it brought to life this amazing atmosphere inside the cinema. Overall I absolutely loved this movie as it allowed me to relive the excitement I had for the game when I was younger whilst being funny and gratifying. The sets and props looked incredible as the borough out the vibrant colours and creativity whilst looking aesthetically pleasing.

There was a lot about this movie that I loved, all the characters were likable, the backgrounds were gorgeous, and many of scenes were incredibly fun. My biggest issue the length. If this movie had more time to flesh out the world it would have really been a 10. It was a bit annoying how there was basically always a chase happening. Before Hank could really try to build or craft anything a chase would take him to the next scene. Something I did like about it was how aware they were of the audience not wanting the normal world scenes. While it did drag a little the more tedious parts were paced up to end quickly.
Just a very fun movie, the vibe in the theatre was superb with lots of cheering and clapping along the way. Funnier than 95% of comedies I've seen in recent years. I went to see it because i thought it would be good in an ironic way but while it did give some of that it was also a legitimately well made movie that i would actually recommend watching. You definitely shouldn't go into the cinema expecting a cinematic masterpiece, but if you're in the market for some good old fashioned fun them you've come to the right place. Jack black was also amazing as always and really took the comedy to the next level.
If you hate Minecraft. Don't watch this movie. If you played Minecraft as a child and appreciate the beauty of the game this movie was AMAZING!! We rented out a movie theatre to watch it and the atmosphere was great. I loved all the references and cameos in this movie. Sometimes it was a bit weird or cringe but once you get past those small parts it's just a great depiction of Minecraft and it makes me feel like I was transported into the movie. I genuinely cried tears of joy by the end of this. Also JENIFER COOLIDGE is such a funny actress and I love all the casting of this movie. Jack black was a tiny bit cringe with the hand movements though 😭 love him.

We took our 8 year old, a fan of minecraft game, and our 5 year old. The uncle and aunt came along too. And everyone had fun watching the movie ! I thought the movie would have a better rating than 6 (but then the low ratings come from older males playing the game so...can't really trust it!), it keeps you engaged, it is entertaining, honestly a good family movie. Time went flying by, and everyone had a smile on their face coming out of the movie theater! Considering the movies that are coming out lately, it was refreshing. We will now patiently wait for it to arrive on streaming services. Go see it !
The Minecraft movie, a title that was talked down upon before it even released. What a great film, it was better than I expected. The wacky craziness from Jack Black made the movie. And let's not forget Jason "the garbage man" Momoa! From the cinema going crazy over "chicken Jockey!" to "I..am Steve!" was a great experience. I just felt they put more effort into Jason and Jack Black than the other characters which made me not really feel much for the others. It was funny, cute and a great watch. My girlfriend also really enjoyed it and got a few chuckled out of it. What I did not like was them making things that is not in the game. Not going to give spoilers but there was a couple.
If you're going into this expecting the most brilliant storyline, serious issues raised, and just expecting a serious cinematography. Don't. At least to me, it seems like a funny project for funny purposes with fun as the main criterion. It's cringe, yes. It's cringe cringe. No, it's so cringe it's funny. I watched this with 4DX technology, so it was extra fun. The plot might have felt a bit too fast paced and many plot lines were extremely obvious to guess, but again, I wasn't expecting Interstellar level of complexity. Besides, it's clearly made for the kids, like very young children. It's so simple, light, and fun. All you need.

I'd give the Minecraft movie a solid 9/10! I honestly don't understand all the negative reviews-it was funny, charming, and surprisingly heartfelt. I loved the characters, and believe it or not, Jason Momoa completely outshined Jack Black in this one. His character was fantastic and brought so much energy to the screen.
I had the privilege of watching it in a new X Screen cinema where the movie extends onto the side walls for a more immersive experience, and Minecraft was a perfect fit for that setup. It really made the film feel alive!
What made it even better was sharing it with my non-gamer wife, who knew nothing about Minecraft-and she loved it too. My kids, 13 and 11, had a blast, and my 13-year-old even said it's their new favorite movie.
Highly recommend this one. Just sit back, have fun, and don't overthink it!
