A drama/thriller filled with gritty intrigue , crisply edition , tension , suspenseful and emotion . It is a story of interwoven lives structured in two parts , Colombia and Spain , crossed by a web of suspense that is resolved in the last story in a surprising finale . Maria (Juana Acosta) , a Colombian nurse , travels to the Spanish Canary Islands , Tenerife , accompanied by her traumatic youngest child to get vengeance when her family was wiped out by attackers and to find one of the murderers . She seeks vendetta about some criminals holding the family hostage in its own home . The unforgiving Maria keeps his life stricken with a photo that she found in the ruined home , showing a couple of young people , stamps with a destination : Tenerife , an inscription and a name : Ivan . Maria , joins forces a psychologist called Gonzalo (Carmelo Gómez) , a loner ex-drunk with some traumas , and while he falls in love for her . Both of them joining tracks and stalking the streets of Tenerife to find the killer . Meanwhile , in a little corner of the island , Ivan (Felix Gómez) , an ex-mercenary , and his sweetheart Vero (Adriana Ugarte) , are unaware that their existences are about to change forever .

This brooding picture contains intense drama , thriller , shocks , suspense , grisly killings , expanded violence , plot twists and numerous exciting as well as strong scenes . This an interesting historical story with a motley group of upsetting roles plenty of lights and shades ; and about the Colombian Civil War , a passionate retelling and a touching warlike drama . ¨Tiempo sin Aire¨ talks about women and ¨War Victims¨ and their eerie consequences : violence , rape and deaths . As the emigrated countryside people suffer a complex situation , they are harassed by both , the Guerrilla and para-military soldiers . The movie relies heavily on the incessant and obsessive search for the stubborn mother , driven violence after his daughter is killed , searching a relentless revenge and taking the law on his own hands . The public were clearly on the Maria's side despite the morality may be questionable but the vengeance can be deemed excessive . A variable and certainly stirring screenplay is heftily completed by skillful developing , some nice dramatic narration and explicit violence . Very good acting by the Colombian Juana Acosta as tough , obsessed mother who lost her daughter at the hands of three militiamen and attempts to retaliate against the rapist . Juana suffered in real life similar circumstances to the one her character goes trough , as some relatives were abducted and killed . Magnificent Carmelo Gómez as Gonzalo , a school psychologist whose humdrum life changes dramatically when meets the mysterious Maria . Remaining support cast is top-notch such as Felix Gómez and the beautiful Adriana Ugarte .

The motion picture was professionally produced by Gerardo Herrero and financed by TVE. Gerardo is a famous producer as well as filmmaker . He was President of the Spanish Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (1994-1994) . Great producer of big hits , being especially known for The Secret of your ears (2009) , Sin Retorno (2010) , Balada Triste de Trompeta (2010) , Crimenes De Oxford (2008) and El Hijo De La Novia (2001) . He also directed some good films such as ¨Silencio En Nieve¨ , ¨Corredor Nocturno¨ , ¨Principio Arquímedes¨ , ¨Crimen Galindez¨ , ¨Frontera Sur¨, ¨Territorio Comanche¨ , ¨Desvio a Paraíso¨ , ¨Al Acecho¨ and ¨Heroína¨ . It displays a colorful and evocative cinematography by Juán Carlos Gómez , an expert cameraman who has photographed successes as Azuloscurocasinegro , El Bola , La Gran Familia Española , Gordos , Agallas , among others . Although is well set in Colombia , it was actually filmed in North Tenerife , Canary Islands , where is well shown the vegetation , buildings and lush woods in similar locations to the South American country . Furthermore , it contains a sensitive and touching musical score by Xavier Font . Directors and screenwriters Andrés Luque and Samuel Martin struck a correct balance of pace and sensitivity in the absorbing tale of a young woman who becomes a fanatic revenger . This is their second film , being the first ¨Agallas¨. ¨Tiempo Sin Aire¨ was presented in Málaga Film Festival with big success and it was Nominated Goya Best Special Effects : Curro Muñoz and Reyes Abades
