Though I do love this series, as we wrap up the storyline of Regina's death, so comes the question of who is this "A" type figure lurking at the end of every episode? Could it be someone Vikram owed money to making sure he is dead, and who may perhaps look toward Karen for money next? Could it be Jack, or maybe Charlie, who might have played a role in Vikram needing to disappear? Who didn't have sex with Vikram? Either way you slice it, Vikram pretty much seems to be at the root of almost every last story we know of.
Topic 1: The Trio's Future - Danny
With Danny's dad dead, and him seemingly no longer being a suspect since Marilyn is likely to take the wrap, it seems that now Danny is going to turn to being this Twilight/ Anne Rice brooding figure. One who thinks he deserves to be punished as he whips his long thick hair toward his eyes enough to make them seem like a curtain of lace, or however you want to romanticize it. Either way, him feeling guilty hopefully gets alleviated soon because even with one episode of it, I have little love for him turning into some sort of Emo.
Which leads to me asking, as a commenter noted on the last episode, what is with these character changes? Jo was actually likable when we first met her; Lacey was calculated, likable, but sort of quiet; and Danny seemed a little eccentric, but charming as hell, even after he was accused of murder. And I don't know if what happened was the writers were changed and they decided to shift the characters without a proper transition, or what? But, at the very least, with Jo dropping out of the love triangle, it seems like Danny and Lacey may have a chance, even though new kid Charlie would love to take Danny's place and fight for Lacey.
Topic 2: Infidelity - Vikram
I don't know what Vikram says or does, but somehow this man has something which has lead him to have a wife, two known mistresses (Gloria and Tess) and who knows how many others. In fact, he seemingly got Gloria so mixed up in the head that she believed that, despite Regina blackmailing Vikram, that there is no way he would harm her daughter. He loved her, was going to leave Karen for her, and she goes on and on to the point where the term "*expletive* her brains out" seems to have been done to this woman.
Topic 3: Just Friends – Jack, Danny and Lacey
But, as we learn about another of Vikram's past lovers, we watch as Jack tries his best to become Karen's current one. Mind you, it seems like whatever they had is gone and she don't want nothing Jack has to offer but, like a kitten with a piece of string, she may not be looking to rekindle their relationship as it were, but seemingly she wouldn't mind a dutiful friend. However, given that Jack was Vikram's friend, much less his right hand man, I worry that Karen maybe playing with fire for he seems like the type which could maybe snap sooner or later because Karen isn't giving him what he wants. I'd even push that mindset to Charlie as well. After quite a few episodes, the topic of sociopaths is brought back, and between Charlie and Jack, I think a new one may have entered the show.
Speaking of Charlie though, as noted above, he is continuing to pursue Lacey, despite her seeming rather uninterested, and this leads to me to elaborate on the Jo/Danny/Lacey situation. As we have seen, Danny pretty much treats Jo like his sweet little sister, which she may be, who knows. And, despite this, Jo had developed lustful eyes, and thoughts, when it comes to Danny. But, I think Jo finally realized that what she feels for Danny doesn't compare to what Lacey does. Lacey, at first, saw Danny as the bane to her existence, the one who ruined her life, and then couldn't keep herself away. The more he was around, the more she felt that old pull. Each time their eyes met, she felt her heart come back to life after her doing what it took to fit in. Hell, speaking of changes in characters, look how much more alive she is compared to the beginning. From almost quiet and mousy, basically an accessory to a jock, to someone who smiles more, speaks up, and is active on her own. I noted earlier how much Danny may have changed Jo, but also take note of how Lacey has changed. And while Danny had some help from Rico in helping Jo recoup from childhood trauma, Danny seemingly got Lacey back into living life on his own. Making so, though their love story fits the style of many, it still is a bit romantic.
Making for an overall episode which still is wrapping up old issues while foreshadowing the new things to worry about. Danny is going to keep murdering his father private, and Jo will too. Jo and Rico are friends again, and Lacey and Danny now have Jo's blessing. So, with all this happiness in the air, who will ruin it? Stay tune to Twisted to find out.
