Profanity

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • That lava monster is pretty scary; its movements and sounds are very creepy.
  • A creature's tongue is cut off in the middle of the movie.
  • During the credits when the production babies are shown one baby named Cooper has a star next to his name which means he passed away before the film was completed this can be very sad for those who have lost a child.
  • The death of Moana's grandmother is very sad especially for viewers who have recently lost a grandparent or don't understand death. There is another very emotional scene where her spirit visits Moana in the form of a manta ray.
  • Chief Tui lashes out at Moana a few times and it can get heavy handed.
  • The film contains some scenes of peril, such as the one in the beginning of the film where Moana and Maui battle an entire army of creatures while at sea. They are seen attacked by the creatures who descend upon their boat with blow darts.
  • While the scenes of perils are resolved positively, with little details of injury shown, they are fairly intense.
