The nerd gets ...

Well that is the question now isn't it? And for the answer you have to watch the movie. But as the international title already suggests, he does get more than he can handle himself. More than anyone expects him to get, which only can lead to one thing, right? But let's go back to the beginning that sets off the very weird character our main protagonists showcases.

Bringing coupons to blind dates, can be considered to be cheap. But it also sets the character up in a nice way. And while it sometimes might have saucy undertones, don't worry (or do?) there is no nudity to speak of in this one. It is as clear as the US counter parts. It's also funny and romantic, which is all you can ask for from a movie like this. Or the least you can ask for

Boring. So very, very boring...

With my love and fascination with Asian cinema, of course I jumped at the chance to watch "Queen of the Night" (aka "Bamui Yeowang") when I was given the chance. And with the synopsis in place and the genre here, I believed that this was going to be a sure win for my entertainment being secured.

It was not...

"Queen of the Night" was cursed with a horribly slow paced storyline, with very little of any interest or any meaning happening along the way. That meant that the movie felt overly prolonged and slow moving. Definitely not an aspect that made for an enjoyable movie. It was just so blasted predictable, that even a blind and deaf person knew was waited around the bend a mile away. No, it was just dreadful.

While the movie was hindered by a horrible storyline and plot, or lack thereof, it was driven by a phenomenal cast. They really had upped their game here and casted some very talented actors and actresses for the movie, just a shame that they were shackled by a lack of script and rendered unable to shine on the screen.

All in all, "Queen of the Night" turned out to be just too boring to be enjoyable. There are far better movies available from the South Korean cinema in the romantic comedy genre. This is not a hidden gem in the South Korean cinema, so don't get your hopes up. I did, and it was all for naught...
