Set to premiere on January 14, Fxx's "Man Seeking Woman" is dark-and-sweet half-hour romantic comedy, but that's a bit reductive. Ideally, your first response to the series should come knowing as little as possible, because the "Man Seeking Woman" description -- The 10-episode comedy follows naïve twenty-something Josh Greenberg (Jay Baruchel) on his unrelenting quest for love -- tells you precious little. However, there are many ways to arrive at the core comedic conceit of "Man Seeking Woman" fresh, including the January 14 series premiere -- I've only seen the pilot so far, but it works well -- or reading series creator's very funny and sometimes moving short story collection "The Last Girlfriend on Earth." Since I was on the show's Toronto set, I'll also have a slew of "Man Seeking Woman" interviews around the premiere date, including conversations with Rich, Baruchel and co-stars Eric Andre, Britt Lower and Maya Erskine. January is looking to be one of the coldest months we’ve seen in the United States in a long while, but there’s no real reason to go outside anyway now that FX and Fxx has unveiled premiere dates for a host of their original series, including modern Western Justified, animated spy comedy Archer and Cold War espionage drama The Americans. Justified fans awaiting that final showdown between Raylan (Timothy Olyphant) and Boyd (Walton Goggins) finally have a date to mark on their calendars: FX has announced the show's sixth and final season will premiere Tuesday, Jan. 20 at 10 p.m. Et. Get ready for a lot of FX — and Fxx — programming early in the new year, as the cable networks today announced January premiere dates for "Justified," "Archer," "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," "The Americans" and the new "Man Seeking Woman." First, the premieres on FX proper. "The Americans" returns for its third season the following week, on Wednesday, January 28 at 10 p.m. (FX also said the "American Horror Story: Freak Show" finale will air on January 21.) Over at spin-off channel Fxx, which has been revitalized thanks to its "Simpsons" repeats, "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" returns for its 10th season on Wednesday,...

FX has given a series order to "Baskets," a new comedy from the creative all-star team of Zach Galifianakis, Louis C.K. and Jonathan Krisel. But don't get too invested in "Baskets," because its premiere is a mighty long way away. Seemingly the "Shakes the Clown" for the 21st Century, "Baskets" focuses on a Bakersfield, California resident named Chip Baskets (Galifianakis), who dreams of becoming a professional clown. When things go wrong at a prestigious French clowning academy, he's forced to make ends meet as a rodeo clown, while never giving up his true lofty aspirations. "Baskets" will begin production next year, but the 10-episode first season won't premiere until 2016. "Zach Galifianakis, Louis C.K. and Jonathan Krisel have created an absolutely brilliant show," blurbs Eric Schrier, half of FX's two-headed President of Original Programming team with Nick Grad. Jay Baruchel should be happy that he will be residing in his home country of Canada for his new series. Fxx has confirmed that Man Seeking Woman will be another one of their show filmed in Canada, Toronto for this show. Fxx has been slowly moving production over there for an unknown reason, which perhaps could also lead to why Jay was chosen .to play the lead role. Production should start soon and we can assume that it will premier sometime next year in 2015.
This show sounds interesting and promising. But I am not sure if the world is ready for another show like this. Especially since they already have so many similar shows out there like this one. It is overdone, unless they focus on his dating fails and make him not fall for his best female friend. Then maybe it could be saved, but even at that it is a doubt.

Undeclared‘s Jay Baruchel will see him returning to the small screen next year. Fxx just confirmed a new series called Man Seeking Woman is his new project. It will be a half-hour show that follows Jay’s character as he seeks to find his special someone in this crazy world. The show is another attempt by Fxx to win over younger audiences with fun and quirky shows. Britt Lower, Maya Erskine and Eric Andre will be joining Jay on his 10 episode first season next year.
This type of show is clearly not new. Fxx could be hoping to win over fans of How I Met Your Mother, but with a more unstructured story. While we are sure fans may not be jumping for joy, it does hold a lot of promise. Jay has made a name for himself on comedies and we can expect his fans will enjoy it.

Fresh off all that media buzz about how HBO’s cult comedy The Comeback should get a comeback (sorry, I had to go there eventually), HBO is considering reviving it as a limited series.
