Comedy currently offers more quantity than quality. That is not necessarily a good thing. Professionals, as in talent agents for HBO, vette comics based on two primary factors, material and delivery. You can be strong in one and weak in the other. Strong in both and you go in the history books like a Carlin or Pryor. The material here is not on par with Johnson's "signature" pieces like the nail story. But nonetheless she remains one of the top physical (delivery) comics out there and for that reason alone this special is worth your time.

Not bad but a bit too clean for me.

This was the first stand-up comedy I watched from Anjelah Johnson. I've been watching a lot of stand-up comedians lately, it seems like it's the thing right now, or maybe it's just easier to watch a show nowadays with all the modern technologies. Anyway, Anjelah Johnson isn't bad, I've see much worse, but it's a bit too clean for me. I'm sure she'll make a lot of people laugh, I had a couple of good sincere laughs, but still her material is just too soft for my liking. She has a good stage presence though what can not be said from all comedians. I don't regret watching this show but I won't search for more shows, for that there are too much other comedians that I enjoy more.
Anjelah Johnson just a bit off her game.

Warning: Spoilers
"That's How We Do It", which happened to have been taped during a live performance in Houston, is a real gem of comedy. We saw that one last year and were hopeful this one, "The Homecoming Show" would be equally funny.
It is not.
It is called the Homecoming show because it was live in her home city in California. The audience was very active and were certainly having a lot of fun. But for those of us not familiar with the many "inside references" much of it falls flat.
I still am a big Anjelah Johnson fan. I still like her humor, and I hope future installments will come up to what most of us expect of her. It seems that she is trying too hard to be quirky instead of natural, and it works only part of the time.
