Warning: this post contains spoilers about the Riverdale season three finale.
Whew! Riverdale is known for its twists and turns, but they really threw us for a loop during the season three finale. While the episode ends with a flash-forward and a major cliffhanger, one of the most talked about moments has to be the revelation that Betty and Jughead's half-brother is actually alive. That's right, we finally come face-to-face with the real Charles.
After members of The Farm mysteriously disappear (minus Kevin), an FBI agent comes knocking on Jughead's door. As he sits down with Jughead and Betty in the living room, he explains that Alice is actually an FBI informant and "it's vital" that they find her Asap. As he reveals that he'll be staying in Riverdale a little longer to sort this whole thing out, Betty stops him and asks why he looks so familiar. The FBI...

Today marks the 35th anniversary of Lifetime. It is being celebrated with a marathon of signature original movies from the past two decades, like Flirting with Forty, Homeless to Harvard, Steel Magnolias and The Gabby Douglas Story.
Besides a tribute to the network’s past, the marathon is a nod to its future. Last summer, under new A+E Networks CEO Paul Buccieri, Lifetime made a change in its programming strategy, putting emphasis back on original movies and using them as backdoor pilots over traditional series development.
The network signaled its renewed push in original movies last August when it announced a 2019 slate of 75 films.
“It’s gotten so much higher than that,” said Lifetime veteran Tanya Lopez, Evp, Movies, Limited Series & Original Movie Acquisitions. “I wouldn’t say that we’re doubling that but we’re definitely increasing them.” (The count includes both originals and acquisitions.)

Lifetime has unveiled the premiere dates for their robust slate of winter movies. From music icons to deadly cheerleaders to the daughter of a notorious mob boss, the network isn’t holding back when it comes to the drama — some based on true stories, some not — for 2019.
Highlights of their slate include Love You to Death (January 26) starring Marcia Gay Harden, which is based on the true story of a mother and daughter who are nothing like they seem, their tumultuous relationship ending in a brutal murder. Also based on a true story is Escaping the Madhouse: The Nellie Bly Story (January 19) starring Christina Ricci. The movie is inspired by Nellie Bly’s undercover stay at the impenetrable Women’s Lunatic Asylum. For something a little lighter, there’s Olivia Newton-John: Hopelessly Devoted to You (February 16) which follows the personal and professional journey of the titular Grease icon. Lifetime...

Following the success of Flowers in the Attic and Petals on the Wind, Lifetime is back with the final two installments in the Dollanganger film series. And the two films -- If There Be Thorns and Seeds of Yesterday -- look like they took a note or two from the Fifty Shades of Grey film.
In the teaser, James Maslow’s abs are on full display as he looks through his closet for some (unnecessary) clothes to wear. The former Dancing with the Stars contestant plays Bart Sheffield, one of two half-brothers unaware of his parents’ incestuous relationship. But secrets in this family are hard to keep.

While an official trailer hasn’t made its way online, this is enough to whet the appetite.

The final guild/industry group to declare nominees did so this afternoon as the Motion Picture Sound Editors (Mpse) spoke up with a roll call of players for the 62nd Golden Reel Awards. On the film side of things, "Birdman" and "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" had the best showing with three nominations each. I've been wondering if the latter could slide into Oscar play this year, but it's hard to gauge here, as "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" had a nice Mpse showing, too. In the effects/foley category, "Fury" is featured as well, also a strong possibility to pop up. All other expected players ("American Sniper," "Guardians of the Galaxy," "Unbroken," etc.) are featured. We'll see how the sound branch shakes it all out tomorrow but I'm a little more confused by where they'll end up going than usual, I must say. Check out...

It took Lifetime a surprisingly long time to get around to making a movie about the life of actress Brittany Murphy, who died in 2009. The movie will star Amanda Fuller ("Last Man Standing," "Cheap Thrills") as the "Clueless" star, with Sherilyn Fenn ("Twin Peaks," "Ray Donovan") appearing as Brittany's mom Sharon. Murphy was only 32 when she died from a reported cardiac arrest, and her husband Simon Monjack died several months later. However, Murphy's biological father Angelo Bertolotti wanted to have her death re-investigated; he purported Murphy and Monjack were poisoned, and tried unsuccessfully to prove it in court.

“America's Got Talent” is back, and NBC's got a Tuesday win, despite the competition hitting a premiere low. Fox finished in sixth place, topping only the CW's lineup and by just two-tenths of a ratings point. NBC was first in ratings with a 2.5 rating/8 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and first in viewers with an average of 10.5 million, according to preliminary numbers. “America's Got Talent” premiered at 8 p.m. to a night-high 3.0/9 and 11.9 million viewers. At 10, “Night Shift” debuted to a 1.6/5 and 7.8 million viewers. Also read: Lifetime's ‘Petals on the Wind’ Falls Short of ‘Flowers...

Lifetime’s Petals on the Wind delivered an impressive overall audience for a holiday weekend, yet didn’t come close to January’s blowout ratings for its predecessor, Flowers in the Attic.
The V.C. Andrews adaptation blew in 3.4 million viewers Monday night, including 1.5 million adults 18-49. That’s down 44 percent from the record-setting premiere for Flowers (and that’s despite Petals having, if anything, even more incest than the first movie). Lifetime will repeat the sequel tonight in case you missed out. Competition last night included a trio of big broadcast reality shows.

Lifetime's “Flowers in the Attic” sequel “Petals on the Wind” didn't blossom quite so well as its predecessor with its premiere Sunday night grabbing 3.4 million total viewers — or a little more than half of what the network's “Flowers” drew with its premiere earlier this year. “Flowers in the Attic” attracted 6.1 million total viewers in January. Granted, the “Petals on the Wind” premiere took place over Memorial Day weekend, which is bound to negatively affect the ratings, but still, it was a pretty steep dropoff. The short answer, alas, is “no.” And really, how could it be? V.C. Andrews’ Petals on the Wind is in a class of its own, one where movie adaptations dare not go — a world in which it’s perfectly fine and great for a 40-something widower to fall in love with a gorgeous, 15-year-old shut-in who’s just been raped by her equally beautiful brother. (Don’t worry about the lack of consent, though; according to Andrews, the girl kind of wanted it anyway. Also totally normal and okay.)

It’s been ten years but the Dollangangers are still as dysfunctional as ever. While Lifetime’s “Petals on the Wind” lived up to their first adaptation, of Vc Andrews’ classic “Flowers in the Attic,” with wildy crazy and inappropriate relationship drama, it still took certain liberties from its source material, though likely in ways that were necessary and perhaps at times even for the betterment of the story. Below are five of the biggest differences we noted between the film, starring Rose McIver, Wyatt Nash and Heather Graham, and the original novel. 1. Paul When casting for “Petals on the Wind” [...]

The first thing Lifetime’s vice president of original movies Lisa Hamilton Daly shows me when I arrive to the set of Petals on the Wind is skin. “This is a thigh,” she says, swiping through tight shots of a good-looking young couple in flagrante on her iPhone. “That’s a boob.” She snapped pictures several hours ago when production on the network’s Flowers in the Attic sequel was, disappointingly, closed to visitors as the movie’s damaged heroine Cathy and her abusive dancer boyfriend Julien made not-so-sweet love in his dingy New York loft. If some complained that Flowers took too tasteful an approach in realizing (or failing to) the incestuous highs that made Andrews’s novels required under-the-covers reading for girls in the early '80s, the story's next chapter, which premieres tonight at 9 on the network, proves both more adult and more faithfully lurid. “It is high-level trashtasticness,...

The faboo Kathy Najimy has joined the cast of Descendants, the Disney Channel’s upcoming movie about the children of the villains from classic animated Disney movies. Najimy will play the Evil Queen. This keeps sounding amazing.
I don’t know how I feel about this. Mark Sheppard will be a series regular in the tenth season of Supernatural. Sheppard is a great actor but I’ve long felt that the Supernatural writers ran out of good stories for Crowley a while ago.
Game of Thrones fansite WinterIsComing.net has descriptions of characters debuting in the fifth season. Watch out for spoilers if you follow the link, obviously. I’m certainly intrigued by the direction this is heading.
Quentin Tarantino says he wants to re-release Django Unchained as a mini-series. It wouldn’t be a remake but the original movie with 90 minutes of additional footage, shown as four one-hour episodes.

If you think that Christopher seems awfully grown up in the "Petals on the Wind," the sequel to the recent adaptation of V.C. Andrews' "Flowers in the Attic," you're not wrong. To cut the unwieldy book down to size, "Petals" (which premieres Mon. May 26 at 9:00 p.m. Et) tosses out the highly creepy storyline in which Cathy has an affair with the much older Dr. Paul and leaps forward ten years. The role of Christopher, which was played by Mason Dye in "Flowers," now features relative newcomer Wyatt Nash. I spoke to Nash briefly this week and found that he not only has those Dollanganger looks everyone gushes about in the books and movies, but he's taking this acting thing seriously -- not every thespian would have the commitment to find a meaningful and sympathetic take on a storyline that makes most people go ew. How did you get this part?...

Talk about taking on a tough role! Wyatt Nash -- star of Lifetime's "Petals on the Wind" -- chatted with toofab's Brittany Kyles about his juicy new role in the soap network's sequel to "Flowers in the Attic." Wyatt plays Christopher Dollanganger Jr., and the film takes place a decade after Christopher's escaped from his grandparents' attic with sisters Cathy Dollanganger (Rose McIver) and Carrie Dollanganger (Bailey Buntain). As Chris and Cathy try to put their past romantic relationship behind them (now that they are out of captivity and in the real world), they discover that not all of their secrets can remain hidden. Check out the video above to see what Nash had to say about taking on the taboo part and find out if he has any real-life revenge secrets of his own! Heather Graham also stars in the flick as Corrine Winslow, Chris, Cathy and Carrie's mother...

If you own a television, chances are you’ve seen either Rose McIver or Wyatt Nash pop up on it at some point in the last few years. She’s had notable roles on Masters of Sex and Once Upon a Time; he’s appeared on Pretty Little Liars and Rake, and was also a contestant on Survivor: Redemption Island in 2011. (Back then, Nash went by his given name, Matt Elrod; he switched to his middle name and Nash, for Nashville, after leaving the show. “I kind of wanted to start at ground zero and really work my way to where I am now,...

The chickens have come home to roost. Lifetime scored huge ratings last January with its gothic freakfest Flowers in the Attic, based on the 1979 V.C. Andrews best seller. Now comes Petals on the Wind. Inspired by Andrews's follow-up novel, the movie leaps ahead 10 years to find brother-and-sister lovers Chris and Cathy Dollanganger (this time played by Wyatt Nash and Rose McIver) trying hard — and failing — to bury their lust for each other.

After giving us crazy in the absolute best way with “Flowers in the Attic,” Lifetime managed to get even wilder with its sequel, with the results being a mixed, but still extremely entertaining, bag. For fans of the Vc Andrews’ series, the new adaptation of “Petals on the Wind” is fairly true to the book, but for those who go in blind (like this reviewer), it’s even better. The story picks up 10 years after the events in the attic, where Cathy (now played by Rose McIver), Chris (Wyatt Nash) and Carrie (Bailey Buntain) are attending a funeral for Paul [...]

The 44-year-old actress showed off her fit figure in an embroidered white two-piece ensemble, which she paired with pointed nude pumps. On the heels of the "Flowers in the Attic," Lifetime will premiere its sequel "Petals on the Wind" on Memorial Day (Mon., May 26, at 9:00 p.m. Et). Because what better way to celebrate a national holiday than with a movie about incest, drug use and dancing? If you've forgotten (or haven't read) the books, this TV movie will be based on the second gothic novel of the iconic V.C. Andrews series about the Dollanganger family. The film begins ten years after the siblings have escaped the attic, where their mother Corrine (Heather Graham, "Drugstore Cowboy") and grandmother Olivia (Ellen Burstyn, "Political Animals") kept them locked away for more than two years. And, you know, they had their sexual awakening and all that. While eating poisoned donuts. Good times! A decade after Cathy (Rose McIver, "Masters of Sex," "Once Upon a Time"), Christopher (Wyatt Nash, "Pretty Little Liars") and Carrie (Bailey Buntain,...

Two weeks earlier, Lifetime’s unveiling of Flowers In The Attic, based on the V.C.
