A very bizarre Mexican cult series

The Neighborhood Family was a sketch that was uploaded to YouTube in the early 2005s almost when YouTube was just a baby. What made these skaches on the internet funny was that they were dysfunctional situations of an average Mexican family and the characters of Grandpa and he were not the sensation because they were as ignorant and abnormal idiots as any average Mexican.

I'm not trying to denigrate Mexicans since I come from there and what I'm trying to imply is that this show made that so funny and when they made it into a series it became extremely funnier because they put in hilarious situations than any other. Person from another country imagines what happens in Mexico.

Why the series is bad in itself This is because the jokes with which the neighborhood family started were squeezed to the core because that was how funny the series was and leaving inconsistencies in its story, putting situations that do not have nothing to do with making the apero without being a little more intelligent or making the grandfather much more miserable and unhappy with his family than at the beginning of the first season, who despite being an unpleasant person worried his family.

If you want to have a good laugh, you can watch it just for the anecdote. But I can guarantee you that the fourth and fifth seasons are among the worst ever seen.

Go watch the original El Chavo 1970 or South Park instead

Este show is aburrido, almost nothing happens, the animation is something as if it was made by Vyond, the series is slow, no musica, its super abburido, if you like mexican shows, go watch El Chavo, if you like adult shows, go watch South Park, it sucks.

Mexican animation is very recognized around the world by its movies and tv shows. On the internet, many Mexican people whose passion is animation, show to the world their creativity and passion to the ideas and projects that the have related to animation. In YouTube, many people from around the world make and upload animated videos or webseries for all ages, for kids or for teenagers and grown ups. "La Familia Del Barrio" was a very good project to start in YouTube. You do not see so many Mexican adult shows. So, this was a very good way to start this new trend. But a rule many TV networks are not following (and they should be following) is: "Some things of the internet should just stay on the internet..." "La Familia Del Barrio", seen in a real perspective, it's a very, very bad show, even tho many people like it. It's animation and voice acting is poor and awful, the storylines are simple, its jokes can be tedious and repetitive sometimes and the plots and characters are too predictible... It's humor, consists on cursing and showing gross and vulgar humor. It's a show that teenagers from 12-17 year olds like to watch. For example, the thing that is "supposed" to be funny in the show is that the characters curse. Obviously, the swearing of the show it's not the problem of the series. In fact, that's a thing that characterizes many adult TV shows. The problem is that the forced cursing and swearing IS the only thing the shows has to offer as its comedy and humor. Nothing else. As a Mexican, I saw that another dissapointing thing about the show is that its social commentary on Mexico and its people is made in poorly way. The social commentary could have saved the show's reputation, but it just made it worse! But, the shows has some pros tho... For example, the writers really know how to offend people with its cursing and jokes and sometimes can be a very good show if you like gross out humor or forced swearing. But the show doesn't have dark humor or good social commentary. In conclusion, "La Familia Del Barrio" is a forgettable show with poor social commentary on Mexican society and life and with a poor attempt on dark humor. This show is just to make you feel like a 12-17 teenage kid who just likes comedy with swearing and vulgar scenes. If you like this type of shows, that's ok. But if you want to watch a really good adult animated TV show, La "Familia Del Barrio" is not the show for you. If you want to see good adult TV shows with dark humor, good writing, better animation and better social commentary, you should watch South Park, Rick and Morty, Bojack Horseman and even Family Guy. This shows just shows that some things of the internet should just stay in the internet...

Hilarious mindrot

If you want to spend a couple of hours having a gut wrenching belly laugh, this is the show to watch. Someone here commented that there is no social commentary in this show, and they are absolutely right. However, as great as shows like South Park, Rick and Morty, and Bojack can be, cartoons aren't suppised to be profound. Teco Lebrija crafted an absolutely hilarious show full of one laugh after another. The characters and voices are spot on, and the timing is perfect. To hell with pretentious pseudo intellectualism; como diría el abuelo, "no mames, pero que hueva me dan"

First time i saw it in 2013 I hated it, I felt insulted as mexican american, but try to get to know their characters and their dynamic, Noruego is so mexican but he named his son Olaf because its the most common name in Norway, he really believes he is Norwegian!", but he doesnt know anything, his reading is so funny- Gaspar helps everyone despite the fact that everybody hates him...and to think one guy does the voices of every single character... thats talent, doesnt matter if the stories are not good.

To me is a good chance to forget about life problems snd just laugh. I REALLY WISH THEY DO MORE EPISODES or make a spin off show... like their corny novel.

Yes is vulgar, but no more than s park or my fave rick n morty.... and in real life Ive met people like them. Bring it back and translate like when they went to road trip the USA, americans will enjoy it Teco, gracias for the laughs. You deserve to be recognized more than Derbez Yours truly Gaspar Del Barrio.
