As we close in on the end of another regular TV season, it means final decisions will be made. There are still a number of Fox shows on the bubble, and some I need to see make it through another season. Some of these are likely going to make it, while others are very much at the bottom in terms of linear ratings and their futures are on the line.

This is a mixture of drama, comedy, and reality TV. You won’t see me write about everything regularly because I like to keep some shows as ones that I watch for entertainment, but just because I don’t write about them doesn’t mean I don’t like them.

Fox is officially confirmed to air another new episode of their hit survivalist reality show Extracted tonight, April 14, 2025, and it will feature a new mystery crate that shows up on the scene, and it does cause some tension. This episode is the 9th one for this current, premiere season 1. According to Fox's official episode 9 press release information, this episode is officially titled, "Banished." The preview information from Fox's press release is telling us that there will only be 4 contestants remaining at the start of this episode, and the families back in the headquarters area will be highly focused on keeping their loved ones in the game. A mystery crate will get introduced to the families, and it will certainly cause some heavy tensions to rise as they will have to trade or keep the items that the box contains.

This episode is the 7th one for this current season 1. According to Fox's official episode 7 press release information, this episode is officially labeled/titled, "Family vs. Family." The preview information from Fox's press release is telling us that both the survivalists out in the wilderness and their families back at the headquarters are going to battle it out for vital supplies at some point. While dead tired, the survivalists will get hit with another exhausting challenge that requires them to compete head-to-head in a swimming race to retrieve a bag of supplies that is located in the center of a lake.

As we continue to watch the last vestiges of primetime dramas fight for their lives on Fox for various reasons, the network has thrown their all into an endless stream of reality television for our viewing pleasure.

Say what you will about reality TV, but Fox knows its bread and butter and delivers when it comes to anything involving Gordon Ramsay and whatever rendition of brutal survival adventure television that has us shouting obscenities from our couches.

Now, Fox has introduced Extracted, and I hate to say it, but they got me in a way that has me judging myself for whatever perverse pleasure I’m finding in the exploitation of families for cold, hard cash.

Fox’s popular game show The Floor received quite a nice boost from Super Bowl Lix on Sunday.

The network said Tuesday that the Season 3 premiere, which aired directly after the Philadelphia Eagles finished off the Kansas City Chiefs, drew 14 million viewers, easily a series-high audience. While The Floor has had some promising same-day audiences, it averaged 2.2M same-day viewers per episode in Season 2.

Sunday’s post-game episode also averaged a 3.7 Live+Same Day rating among adults 18-49, making it the highest-rated and most-watched unscripted entertainment series telecast in two years.

Post-Super Bowl programming always benefits from a nice lift, as viewers tend to hang around after the big game. For context, last year CBS debuted Tracker after the Super Bowl to about 18M viewers. The last time Fox hosted the Super Bowl, Next Level Chef‘s Season 2 premiere got the coveted slot and managed 15.5M viewers.

The thrill of Fox’s new reality competition series “Extracted” (premiering February 10 at 8 p.m. Et) is in its clever combination of two genre tropes: Watching regular people test their limits and watching regular people fight the temptation (or not!) to acquiesce to our baser instincts.
