Like most of the other reviews have already said...Agent Carter ended way too soon. It's easily one of the most underrated Marvel shows there is. Haley Atwell was absolutely terrific as Agent Carter. This show follows Agent Peggy Carter (from Captain America: The First Avenger) as she tries to stop new threats after the events of that movie and World War II. Carter is a woman who's surrounded by men at work that continue to underestimate her as she outsmarts and out fights the rest of her co-workers to become the best agent on the force. If you're looking for a good spy series that you'll have a blast watching then give this a try.

In the modern crossover universe of Marvel, agent Peggy Carter is a regular resident. Well now she has her own series, "Agent Carter".
Set in 1946 New York, the pilot establishes her connection to Captain Rogers then launches into a post-war story of espionage. Like a cross between "Dick Tracy" and "Covert Affairs", it is not necessary to know the Marvel history behind the characters in this show. Peggy works for a clandestine and patriotic organization (SSR) where she is often treated like most secretaries in the forties. This is one of the basic jokes of the series. Like Clark Kent, she appears mild-mannered, but she works behind the scenes as a lethal and effective weapon for justice and The American Way.
The production values are terrific--as in all Marvel stories--contributing to one of the most enjoyable aspects of the show: its immersion in the milieu of its time. The clothing styles. The technology. The idioms.
At the same time, the series tweaks technology when it comes to the gadgets that Agent Carter uses in her craft. Her devices are hybrids of forties items and more modern, even futuristic, technologies. Just as steam punk has a special charm, this hybrid technology--which we might call transistor punk--is whimsical and fun.
I recommend tuning in to "Agent Carter" to watch her strike a blow for America and, along the way, the downtrodden, while swing music plays in the background.

Why was this show cancelled?! It was SO good. There are literally no words that I can use to describe the love that I have for Peggy and Jarvis's chemistry. I could have watched these two banter for ever. James D'Arcy and Hayley Atwell killed it in every episode.
I also loved the rivalry/respect between Peggy and Dottie. I would have loved to see more of them.
After binge watching the 2 existing seasons I rewatched every episode 3 more times in just 1 week. I literally cannot get enough of it. Please someone bring it back!!!!
Netflix, please be a dear and give us Peggy and Jarvis back.
PLEASE BRING AGENT CARTER BACK!!

I absolutely love this show!! I hope that with Disney+ will decide to revive it. I was hooked from the moment I watched the first episode through the very last episode of season 2. It feels like we were left hanging so please bring back Agent Carter.

Agent Carter turns out to be an interesting espionage and period series. It serves as a nice prequel to Agents of SHIELD, and if not a better TV series overall, although it's early to tell.
All the references and "easter eggs" in the two part episode premiere are great but this is not what makes the series special, it is the feeling you get watching Agent Carter. The music, the cars, the typical diners, the jazzy clubs, 1946 New york,... All this elements make Agent Carter a stylish piece, relying on Peggy Carter, not only as an action hero but a woman in the 1940s.
If you love Marvel, you're going to have fun with this one. And even if you're a non-marvel fan-boy/girl, you'll be satisfied with the tone of the Series and Peggy Carter kicking some ass.

Agent Carter was such an underrated show that was canceled way too early. Besides the show being underrated, Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter) is also an underrated actress. She's so beautiful that I think people tend to notice that more and not give her enough credit as an actress. She's both beautiful and talented. The show itself was so well done. Everything from the writing to the acting to the production was great. The attention to detail they put into this show is very impressive. The thing that stood out the most to be was the character development, you really seen these characters grow and you come to care what happened to them. This is a must watch for any Marvel fan or fan of spy thrillers.

Incredible really, how Haley Atwell and cast along with the writers, costume dept, action/stunt organisers as well as set designers have created something highly unusual: a high quality film production disguised as a TV show. So what exactly has Agent Carter done that's different? Well, dear reader, every scene's astonishing attention to detail might have something to do with it, suggesting the people involved love AC, having taken it to their hearts and boy does it show!
What an amazing breath of fresh air, the dialogue is exceptional, the period design extraordinary, the premise thrilling and the action exciting, somewhat more reminiscent of Indiana Jones than your typical TV fare.
Meanwhile, the ratings reflect audience appreciation, even though the show has not been marketed heavily, episode by episode the numbers have really started to pick up with DVR outdoing live viewing which itself is an outstanding achievement. Agent Carter compares very favourably to AoS as well as Gotham even though they both received a high level of promotion. It is this fact as well as all the other favourable elements that suggests Agent Carter is here to stay and hopefully other networks might learn a lesson or two on how it should be done.
I look forward to many more of Peggy Carters adventures with a reborn sense of fun and excitement!

I rate Agent Carter 10 out of 10 stars! I looked forward to every Tuesday night checking in with my friend (yes, it felt like we were pals) Peggy. This show delivers everything I am looking for and need in television.
We have brains, brawn, beauty, brilliance...and that only covers some of the B-words! (I am being silly, but I could go on and on with adjectives) What I like most about this show is the promotion of women and empowerment. Women today can still relate to Peggy Carter because sexism is alive and thriving.
I love we see a strong and smart woman taking matters into her own hands and working on something she wholeheartedly believes in--and kicking arse.
Excellent writing, excellent action sequences, excellent supporting cast (Hey Enver!) and overall an excellent experience!!! Please deliver more AGENT CARTER !!! (A feature film or additional seasons of the series)

Classic 1940's theme with modern twist

Agent Carter Season 1 started off a bit slow, but with only 8 episodes, ot was an easy watch and as the season progressed, the episodes got better. I am glad I persisted with it and I am n ow ready to watch Season 2. I especially found the last 3 or 4 episodes really entertaining and I binged watched the last 3 episodes.
Definitely worth a look.

I love the retro theme and Agent Carter herself is just so appealing. Classy, elegant, yet smart and knows how to kick some butt! They've taken a supporting character from the Captain America films and gave her her own world, and its full of adventure! The only thing I don't get is what is Jarvis' motivation for risking life and limb for Ms Carter. It made sense in season 1 when they were both trying to clear Stark's (Jarvis' boss) name, but in season 2 it just seems weird.
But that weird thing aside, the show is great! It's very different from other Marvel shows or movies.
I also like how they are gradually building depth into the character such as when they showed a bit of her history back when she was engaged to someone. This makes her more 'real' and humanizes her.

It's after the war. Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) is working for the SSR in New York. She is still haunted by the lost of Steve Rogers. While she's dismissed at work, she works secretly with Tony Stark who is always in trouble. She is assisted from Stark's butler Edwin Jarvis (James D'Arcy). At work, she has to deal with sexist Jack Thompson (Chad Michael Murray) and Daniel Sousa (Enver Gjokaj) who is in love with her. In the second season, the group transfers to L.A.
I love Hayley Atwell and she builds a fun partnership with James D'Arcy. Being a prequel does leave this less exciting. There is limitation to the drama when things are never in danger of going off the rails. It's also less than gritty with the wacky broad 40s style. It is still compelling because of Hayley and the relationships of the group. It's light fun adventure TV. ABC canceled it after two half-seasons.

A series in the style of "Golden Age" comics

The story has the general framework of Golden Age detective/adventure comics from comic books and newspapers, and the art direction follows these lines without going to the extremes of Dick Tracy or Sin City. Period details are intentionally highlighted: for example the protagonist eats regularly in an automat, the 1940s equivalent to a fast food restaurant.
Likewise, the characters are period storytelling stereotypes, with standard 1940s hard-nosed G-men, a chatty waitress, a proper English butler, etc., and the story follows the Golden Age comic adventure formula. Added to the usual period elements is the modern theme of sexism and misogyny, which, consistent with Golden Age style, is blatant and encountered frequently.
Having watched the first three episodes, my assessment is that while they stick to the Golden Age adventure formula, they haven't actually done anything with it. The larger story arc isn't really advancing, so we're left with action and conflicts that seem like arbitrary back-and-forth struggles followed by a scattering of a few bits of suggestive exposition when the sequence concludes. MacGuffins are sought, clues followed, villains fought, chases occur, government investigators get in the way, a final plot hook is presented, and then on to the next episode. It's possible they intend to invert or subvert the stereotypes of the characters they've presented, but this would break the period feel without actually adding anything.
A story like this is framed around the assumption that the audience simply likes the main character and enjoys watching her operate. I suppose this would be my objection: I find the most engaging and sympathetic character to be the waitress, with a majority of the regular characters coming off as obnoxious or a bit boring. Without an intriguing mystery or an exciting adventure story, there's very little to watch if you don't find the central characters interesting.

I really loved the two hour premiere. Loved the time setting, loved the spy plot, and loved the supporting cast (Edwin Jarvis is great!) Haley Atwell as Peggy Carter is just wonderful. Great actress, great role,and she is very easy on the eyes. I hope they bring in more Super Hero related items or characters too (Cap wasn't the only one). Perhaps smaller characters like the Human Torch and Toro, or the Sub-Mariner. Heck, maybe even the Winter Soldier. As long as they keep the theme essentially the same, and build on the world, the show is a winner for me.

TV Delight of the Year?

What usually makes me come to IMDb and write a review is anger at some really dumb show and the lazy ways its creators do it, hoping everybody under the sun is a complete fool. Then, I had never read or watched any comics or comics based production whether from Marvel or whatever. So, what made me come here to give this show 9 stars out of ten?
First, it is extremely well-written (congratulations to the writers), witty, sophisticated, it is essentially a continuation of the tongue-in-cheek humor from the Roger Moore's James Bond movies. The plots are well-thought out (based on the first 3 episodes) with only tiny, microscopic holes here and there. After all, they have to adapt a comics, science fiction story to the TV format of 42 minutes. The acting is top-notch, the lead actress is stunning in all departments, totally immersed in her character, her emoting was convincing and her ability to deliver and act on the witty lines was fabulous.
It is really interesting to see how life in post war America was presented, the atmosphere, how people dealt with the consequences of the war. The creators seem to me to be slightly biased against the SSR people (essentially performing the tasks that in real life were prerogatives of the FBI). Beating detainees to a pulp, really? Western counter-intelligence agencies used to have other ways to outsmart their opponents, I gather. At this point women had proved to be very good at spying so a spy agency should value its female agents way more than in this series.
Apart from these two issues (obviously political, but this is Hollywood after all), the show is a real gem, highly aesthetic, sophisticated journey throughout a long-forgotten world. The show's writers better not become lazy any time soon, though. It often happens.

A "REAL" TV Gem...An Agent Who Earns Her Commission

What? A TV series that smells, acts and watches like a "REAL" movie? Yep, "Agent Carter" serves up real characters and some tight direction that takes us down the story line path that has a bit of a stench but one that we can so tolerate...Kinda like a sweet smelling onion...Kudos to Marvel and ABC for putting this on broadcast TV...Characters really die (over and over again) and the fight scenes are real intense but covered with cutaways to a radio serial being produced in a studio with sound effects and great VO's...What a surprise...What a treat...What DELICIOUS TV viewing...You HAVE to watch "Agent Cater" for this is one of those rare instances where TV steps up and truly entertains...

I'm surprised the series didn't go longer than two seasons. It has a high rating for a reason, its good. The first season was the best, the second slipped a little but still fun. The cast makes this show. They are great actors and a really fun mixture of characters. Jarvis is the best, the series really unfolds his character. He's unique and makes the show fun. Peggy Carter is gorgeous and full on kick-butt great. I really liked her friend Angie played by Lyndsy Fonseca. Her chemistry was great with Hayley Atwell. And helped bring a wholesome balance to the series, It was disappointing that she didn't return in season two. Bridget Regan as Dottie was fantastic, I really enjoyed her witty character. It was another let down that didn't have her more on season two. I think they really could have done more there. I suspect she would have been on season three if there would have been one. It was really nice to see more of Howard Starks life. I was hoping they would have showed more of his family life, as we all know our favorite Stark comes from him. I think they could have played this up a little more. The series did a great job on putting in a lot of action and an interesting story to boot. I think the series really should have gone a little longer then two seasons. There was lots of room for it to continue.

Have just completed watching the two seasons. Awesome script, acting and period sets and costumes. Great interplay between central charcters Agent Carter and Jarvis as well as other charcters which blend comedy moments and real drama.
The story lines are well conceived and have many nodds to the Marvel Franchaise.
Sad that no more seasons were commissined, but these two seasons have been a real treasure for me, whilst I have been in lock down.

Having seen the now-final ep of the series "Agent Carter", I'm bummed we won't get a third season as I thought the entire run was just awesome! I mean, I loved the '40s period atmosphere, and Hayley Atwell was just gorgeous and charismatic as the title character. She was when introed in Captain America: The First Avenger and even more here and I loved her dialogue with Edwin Jarvis (James D'Arcy), Howard Stark's butler. The first season in New York when she started working for SSR, and the second season in Los Angeles had such compelling plots and characterizations, I never was bored watching the whole thing! Oh well, hope Ms. Atwell luck in her new series "Conviction" though I don't know if I'll watch that yet...

I appear to be in the minority, so I'll make this brief. Loaded with clichés, obviousness, and irritating simple-minded moralizing, Agent Carter's first season begins enjoyably enough and quickly sours, only to get worse and more ridiculous as the season progresses. The noble comic relief as British butler, the charming womanizer, the bullies in suits who stand in for law enforcement, a tangent into war-story romanticism, a completely uncaptivating villain with a disappointingly silly superpower, all blended together with clunky pacing. I'll give a couple points for (some) decent acting, and it does look great. There's no way I'm coming back for season 2, however.

Very entertaining show with lots of interesting characters a good storyline and witty dialogue. I wouldn't have minded a season or two more.
Also it is pretty annoying that many of these shows don't know that they are making their final season. So we end up with a clear intention of more to come, but it never does.

If you loved Peggy on Captain America: The First Avenger then this show is a must watch. The first season was just fantastic and I loved everything about it; the plot, the characters, the settings, etc but season 2 didn't have the same captivating plot but I still enjoyed it either way and I'm so annoyed at how it ended. I need a season 3 to see what happened.
