This is the first film since White Powder (2006) that writer/director David Sowden had sole writing credit on.
The funeral procession seen at the beginning was a happy accident. While shooting the graveyard scene, the procession began to arrive at the cemetery. Director David Sowden grabbed the camera, ran across the street, and shot the hearse as B-roll footage without knowing how it would fit in till later.
Shot on the RED ONE camera. David Sowden considered it an experiment in filmmaking and, in addition to unusual framing in the 2.35:1 ratio, included unorthodox visual compositions achieved via green screen.
Nicholas Zebrun got the job playing the Minister because the original actor dropped out at the last minute. He agreed to do it on the condition that he could wear jeans that would be kept out of frame. Although David Sowden approved of it, you can still see the jeans in some wide shots.
