PlayStation’s Spider-Man 2 has become one of the PS5’s best-selling games, and with good reason. Great story-telling, fast-paced action, and intuitive web-swinging made for an experience that is truly, well, amazing! So, when fans caught wind of a live-service Spider-Man game that got canned, they were both curious and disappointed.
With new information coming to light, that disappointment is going to grow even larger, as a pitch plan for Spider-Man: The Great Web reveals the devs had plans for several seasons that would have kept even the most ardent webheads occupied for years!
The Great Web Would Have Had a Lot of Content to Work Through
Who wouldn’t want to take down The Sinister Six as a Spidey team?

The concept of expanding Sony’s Spider-Man universe originated in 2013, intending to introduce spin-off films, notably one featuring Venom after ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2.’ Disheartened by the film’s reception, Sony abandoned these plans, entering a collaboration with Marvel Studios in 2015, integrating Spider-Man into the MCU.
Despite mixed-to-negative reviews for Ssu movies like Morbius, the universe persisted, with various live-action and animated projects in development, exploring both Spider-Man’s supporting characters and villains. Rumors now suggest two additional projects focusing on Doc Ock and Mysterio, as reported by Caiden Reed on X.

The idea of an expanded Sony’s Spider-Man universe began in 2013, with plans to launch spin-off films, including one centered on Venom, following ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2.’ However, due to the film’s disappointment, Sony abandoned these plans and collaborated with Marvel Studios in 2015, and since then, Spider-Man has been one of the main characters in MCU.
However, despite Ssu movies generally receiving mixed to bad reviews (looking at your Morbius), the Ssu continued and now has plenty of live-action and animated projects in development focusing both on Spider-Man’s supporting character and his villains. If rumors are to be believed, two more projects can be added to that slate projects, focusing on Dock Ock and Mysterio, as stated by Caiden Reed on X.

As multiverse movie mania surges from the trailer for December’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, the post-credits scene of Venom: Let There Be Carnage and mid-2022’s plot-obscured Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, it might be easy to forget the existence of Marvel movie Morbius. After all, the film, in which Jared Leto stars as Marvel’s antihero “Living Vampire,” teased its first trailer way back in January 2020—a time now considered a different era for many reasons. However, a new trailer not only reminds the world that Morbius is coming, but even further contributes to the multiverse mystery.
While Morbius’s new trailer is the kind of conventional plot-exhibiting montage that—in an arguably self-defeating manner—overshares enough to make viewers feel as they’d seen the entire movie, it also happens to continue its predecessor trailer’s touting of intriguing timeline teases. Indeed, as if the...

Spider-Man from Columbia Pictures’ Spider-man: No Way Home.
For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero is unmasked and no longer able to separate his normal life from the high-stakes of being a Super Hero. When he asks for help from Doctor Strange the stakes become even more dangerous, forcing him to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man.
From director Jon Watts, watch the first trailer for Spider-man: No Way Home, in theaters only on December 17.
Based on the Marvel Comic Book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, it looks like Spidey will be dealing with Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus, Jamie Foxx’s Electro, and Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin.

While sequel Venom: Let There Be Carnage approaches its September 24 release date, star Tom Hardy is already envisioning designs for a prospective third film. Interestingly, for fans still unable to overlook the Spider-Man-less elephant in the franchise room, said designs are auspicious, since they involve a push to finally get the symbiote-joined Eddie Brock and Tom Holland’s Wall-Crawler together to potentially ignite a live-action version of their era-defining comic book rivalry. However, given the twisted web in which Sony’s Marvel movies are stuck, such a face-off would likely require major studio wrangling and multiverse magic.
Hardy is making a passionate push for a yet-to-be-greenlit Venom 3 to center around a battle between his title character and your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man; a notion that seems obvious, seeing as Venom was introduced in the pages of The Amazing Spider-Man back in 1988, created by David Michelinie and Todd McFarlane as Spidey’s bulky,...

As part of "The Sinister Six" Marvel Comics super-villain 'Kraven the Hunter' could be introduced in Sony's upcoming "Spider-Man 3":
'Sergei Kravinoff', aka 'Kraven The Hunter", debuted in Marvel Comics' "The Amazing Spider-Man" #15 (August 1964), created by writer Stan Lee and illustrator/co-plotter Steve Ditko.
"I'm just starting it," said Wenk about the "Kraven" screenplay. "It's an interesting world. A great character. It's going to adhere very closely to the lore of 'Kraven the Hunter'. And he is going to come face to face with 'Spider-Man'...
"There's lots of hurdles to overcome before you can start writing, to crack the right story and to get the right tone. It's a new world for me. But what's nice about it is, it's a very grounded character, he doesn't have a lot of crazy superpowers and things like that so he's more grounded and that fits what I like to do.

Sony's Amy Pascal has confirmed Marvel Comics costumed super-powered villains the 'Sinister Six', will appear in the next "Spider-Man" movie, co-produced with Marvel Studios:
The first "Sinister Six' group was organized by 'Doctor Octopus', debuting in Marvel Comics' "The Amazing Spider-Man Annual" #1 (January 1964).
"...'Doctor Octopus' contacts every known enemy of 'Spider-Man', but only 'Vulture', 'Electro', 'Kraven the Hunter', 'Mysterio' and 'Sandman' respond.
"Knowing he'd never be able to keep the team together, Doc Ock formulates a battle plan ...
"...in which each individual member of the 'Sinister Six' would battle Spider-Man in a carefully chosen location.
"Spider-Man himself had his own problems, as he had somehow lost his powers and prepared to return to normal life as a teenager.
"As Peter returned to his normal life as a student and a freelance photographer, he was unaware of the fact the Sinister Six kidnapped 'Daily Bugle' secretary 'Betty Brant' and Peter's 'Aunt May'.

The first trailer for Morbius was finally unleashed yesterday, officially kicking off the movie’s marketing campaign in anticipation for a July release. However, the footage seems to have raised more question than answers among Spider-Man fans, with people confused as to how the web-slinging superhero ultimately fits into the Marvel universe that Sony are attempting to build.
Kevin Feige admitted that Tom Holland was likely to appear in the Sony films as part of the deal that allowed Spidey to remain part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the quick glance of a mural daubed with the word ‘murderer’ seemingly indicates that Morbius and the upcoming Venom 2 will take place in the same timeline as the McU’s Spider-Man adventures, with Peter Parker set to go on the run after being framed as Mysterio’s murderer and having his secret identity revealed by the Daily Bugle at the end of Far From Home.

While Sony’s Spider-Man spinoff plans are already grandiose, it seems that the Sinister Six team-up movie is still happening.
The Sinister Six, the legendary team-up of Spider-Man’s greatest enemies, has long been eyed by Sony Pictures for a spinoff movie; a notion that predates Tom Holland’s current Marvel Cinematic Universe-adherent version of the Wall-Crawler. While a lot has happened on the movie front since those plans last gained momentum – notably with Venom and an upcoming array of solo spinoff movies – it appears that the allure of a Sinister Six mega-movie still has Sony making plans.
The latest Sinister Six update comes from Amy Pascal, who, while ousted as Sony Pictures chief back in 2015 after the December 2014 company-wide hack, still maintains producing purview over the Spider-Man efforts. She has revealed that the studio’s plans for The Sinister Six are not only, in her mind,...

[Editor’s Note: The following article contains spoilers for “Avengers: Infinity War,” in theaters now.]
When “Captain America: Civil War” introduced Spider-Man (Tom Holland) into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it was considered a huge triumph for fans who love Peter Parker and had been waiting for years to see him finally interact with the Avengers. Holland’s pitch-perfect cameo was one of the film’s highlights, and made fans even more excited for “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” which proved to be another hit for both the McU and Sony.
After the film’s success, a “Homecoming” sequel seemed like a no-brainer, until the shocking end of “Avengers: Infinity War,” when Spider-Man, along with a slew of other heroes, is faded into dust by Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet. The onscreen death of Spider-Man was a shock, and one that the Russo Brothers knew would hit fans hard. In an interview with IndieWire’s Kate Erbland, the Russos explained that they didn’t take the decision lightly,...

After years of pursuing director gigs for big name franchises, Drew Goddard will finally have his shot with 20th Century Fox's X-Force!
When it was announced that X-Force would follow Deadpool 2, comic fans were thrilled with the idea that they'd finally see the ruthless version of the X-Men on the big screen. Who would see that vision through, though? Continuing with 20th Century Fox's trend of tapping up and coming directors for their superhero films, Fox has hired highly-acclaimed writer, Drew Goddard, to direct and write the upcoming X-Force film, according to an exclusive report by Deadline.
Goddard is no stranger to the superhero genre, having penned the spin-off of The Amazing Spider-man, The Sinister Six. While that ultimately didn't pan out, Goddard has continued to have success in Hollywood. His resume includes writing for The Martian, World War Z, Netflix's Marvel shows, and even Cabin in the Woods.

Drew Goddard is an incredibly talented writer who has worked on projects such as Daredevil, The Martian, Lost, World War Z, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Sinister Six, and Robopocalypse, and he just recently joined the Deadpool 2 team.
He also wrote and directed the wonderful horror film The Cabin in the Woods. He hasn't directed anything since, which is a shame because the guy proved that he has a talent for it. Well, he's finally landed a new feature film directing gig!
20th Century Fox just bought a spec script that he wrote for a film called Bad Times At The El Royale. He will write the script and direct the original project. Unfortunately, at this time there are no plot details. The only thing we have to go on is the title.

- Yes Folks, This Is What Sony's Original Plans Might Have Possibly Looked Like - The Sinister Six - Now this spin-off would've been directed by Drew Goddard, the visionary behind The Cabin In The Woods, the original showrunner/director behind Netflix's Daredevil, he's also the same guy who science'd the shit outta The Martian, found his footing with the found-footage movie Cloverfield, and helped write a 2-hour Pepsi commercial called World War Z. Drew's Sinister-6 movie would've seen the likes of Otto Octavius, Adrian Toomes, Flint Marko, and Kraven the Hunter teaming up based on a shared hatred for a certain arachnid do-gooder, and battling Happy Madison's direct-to-Netflix spaghetti western The Ridiculous 6 in a copyright infringment lawsuit. Of all the problems people had with this project being announced, I guess the most reasonable gripe is that a bunch of old white dudes wearing mech-suits don't make for very compelling protagonists,

Usually, when a TV show is on its third set of showrunners before its second season has begun, it's the sign of major creative trouble. With Netflix's Daredevil — which almost everyone (myself included) really liked last year — it's been a sign that the previous showrunners were too in-demand to stick around for very long. Drew Goddard (Cabin in the Woods, The Martian) started out as the man in charge, but left early in the first season to work on the (since-canceled) Spider-Man spin-off movie The Sinister Six. Spartacus creator Steven DeKnight came in to steer the ship for the rest of season 1, but didn't want to stick around long term, given other opportunities (one of which turned out to be directing Pacific Rim 2). So now Daredevil has turned to a pair of writers who worked on the first season — Doug Petrie (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, American Horror Story) and Marco Ramirez (Sons of Anarchy,...

This week was the unveiling of the Captain America: Civil War set visit pieces and interviews, so we got a bunch of semi-new information from the horses’ mouths. The structure of the set visit embargoes were based off the respective “Teams” in this Civil War.
Team Captain America started off the rollout because the scene that everyone was on set for was the German Airport battle, specifically Team Captain America running towards Team Iron Man (the shot in the trailer). Paul Rudd was off doing green screen work to become Giant Man in the scene and apparently Tony Stark and company are defending a Quinjet from Team Cap. The Iron Man side wasn’t shot in view of any of the reporters, so that was left for Day Two of the set visit rollout.

Drew Goddard cut his teeth in the entertainment industry as a writer for Joss Whedon on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. Since then he's stayed largely in the TV world, having worked on Alias, Lost, and Marvel's Daredevil series, but he continues to flex some increasingly big movie muscles. He wrote Cloverfield, he directed Cabin in the Woods (which he co-wrote with Whedon), and he was supposed to write and direct The Sinister Six before the Andrew Garfield-version of Spider-Man fell to the wayside. Goddard's latest movie credit is as the screenwriter of The Martian, which he adapted from Andy Weir's fantastic book about an astronaut who gets mistakenly left for dead on Mars. In fact, Goddard was the original director on the project but had to pass when The...

Ridley Scott still remembers, vividly, sitting down in a movie theater, watching the lights go down and experiencing as a gamechanging moment as 2001: A Space Odyssey sputtered to life onscreen. "It had been out less than a week," the filmmaker recalls, settling into a chair in a cavernous hotel conference room in Toronto. As comic book and superhero movies continue to dominate the studio sphere, it means there will be just as many projects that were in development that, for a variety of reasons, didn't come to pass. Maybe it was a pitch that didn't take, or perhaps a project that was undone after the studio got cold feet. And Drew Goddard has experienced both of those pains. He was set to write and direct "The Sinister Six" until the project was kiboshed after the failures of "The Amazing Spider-Man" series. And while he did score a success for Marvel on Netflix with "Daredevil," in a new chat with IGN, he reveals he initially pitched a feature film for the character. Widely teased in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Goddard elected not to direct The Martian so he could make the Spider-Man spin-off. Yet following the box office performance of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and Sony's subsequent deal with Marvel Studios over the screen future of the webslinger, the Sinister Six project fell by the wayside.
Chatting to IGN, Goddard talked about the film falling through, saying that the making of the movie "is the special part". "After that it’s the business part. Like, I want people to see these things, but it’s done. And with Sinister, you know I love that script,...

Drew Goddard got the fanboys and fangirls of the Interwebs all giddy last week when he revealed that he believes his “Sinister Six” could still become a silver screen reality, that the project is not a forever-lost piece of collateral damage in the Sony-Marvel team-up. With that in mind, HitFix couldn’t help but take the opportunity to ask Goddard about his vision for “The Sinister Six.” Chatting with Goddard this morning about his screenplay for “The Martian,” we asked him who his dream roster would be for the six supervillains in the rogues gallery up against Spider-Man. (The villainous team has had many iterations and roster changes in the comic books.) Goddard couldn’t tell us his dream roster — but that may be a good thing. “I can't answer that ’cause that would be my movie. Luckily, they let me make my dream roster,” Goddard told HitFix. So, it...

Marc Webb and Andrew Garfield’s third Spider-Man film will now never see the light of day. But what would it have been like?
Contains spoilers for The Amazing Spider-Man, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and potentially The Amazing Spider-Man 3 (that doesn’t exist).
Say what you will about The Amazing Spider-Man franchise, but one thing you can’t fault them for is their pre-planning. From the very first scene of Andrew Garfield’s first film in the Spidey suit, seeds were sown for a long form multi-film arc. What’s the story with Peter’s parents? What are Oscorp really up to? Who’s that guy wearing a trilby?
You could argue that director Marc Webb and Sony played it a little too coy with all their long-running mysteries. It looks a lot like a hubris now, that they would have the confidence to withhold any big revelations for two whole films,...

Most of the talk around Spider-Man at the moment concerns who’s going to be playing the web-slinger, first set to appear in Captain America: Civil War, but there’s also the matter of who’ll be directing him in his own currently-untitled movie, due for release in 2017.
Drew Goddard was thought to be in pole position of the role, as he was set to direct The Sinister Six before Marvel and Sony decided to team up, but according to Deadline there are now five names in the running.
These include Jonathan Levine (Warm Bodies, 50/50), Ted Melfi (St. Vincent), Jason Moore (Pitch Perfect), John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein (Vacation) and Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite).
One thing all of those names have in common is experience in comedy films, which suggests that Marvel/Sony will be looking for a lighter tone to their new Spidey film, which...

There is a terrifically unkind way to report today's story, and a quick scan of Twitter should give you some idea of just how strong a reaction some people are having to the short list of directors that Deadline claims are in the mix to direct Sony's upcoming reboot of "Spider-Man." First thought: Miller and Lord are making the wrong movie for the studio. Second thought: why is this so difficult for Sony? After all, the original "Spider-Man" was a huge milestone in terms of how superheroes were treated on film. Sam Raimi got the tone so right it was ridiculous, and no matter what choices he made in the film, he proved that Spider-Man could work, and that he could bring the colorful world of Marvel Comics to the screen in a way that the whole world could enjoy. Was that really just 13 years ago? I can still remember...

Steven S. DeKnight has worked on some celebrated TV programs over his career. He's written for "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and held different producer titles for "Angel," "Dollhouse" and both "Spartacus" incarnations. Now, he's earning critical acclaim for his contributions to "Marvel's Daredevil" which debuted on Netflix last week. Thanks to show creator Drew Goddard and DeKnight, this version of the classic hero is a far cry from the tepidly received 2003 movie that starred Ben Affleck as the Man Without Fear. Netflix's "Daredevil" is the darkest, bloodiest and most grounded Marvel Studios creation yet. And yet, as with most great "Daredevil" stories it features an inevitable showdown between Matt Murdock in his alter ego as Daredevil (Charlie Cox) and Wilson Fisk a.k.a. The Kingpin (Vincent D'Onofrio) as they both fight to transform a pretty upscale neighborhood of Manhattan (O.K., it's still pretty un-gentrified because of all that destruction in "The Avengers,...

Ever since it was announced Spider-Man was going to become a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there’s be rampant speculation normally only reserved for dubious Star Wars: The Force Awakens concept art.
Will they canonise the Sam Raimi films, with Tobey Maguire reprising the role of Peter Parker? Is the Spider-Man going forward actually Miles Morales? Will Peter have a race change in a bid to diversify the McU? Can you expect a reference in the oh-so-close Avengers: Age Of Ultron? How exactly has a hero everyone was sick of only a couple of months ago become the biggest talking point on the internet?
Now those rumours are starting to coalesce into something regarding actual facts. The current suggestion is that, following the character’s debut in Captain America: Civil War, Sony’s 2017 stand-alone movie will see Peter Parker go back to high school, but...

Just a few days ago Robert Downey Jr. teased a major announcement to come this week. Did he just get scooped? According to Latino Review, Drew Goddard (The Cabin in the Woods) has been picked by Sony to write and direct the first new solo Spider-Man movie, which is tentatively titled Spectacular Spider-Man. That's not too grand of a shock, though, considering Goddard had previously been working on writing and directing The Sinister Six for Sony (he also created Netflix's Daredevil series), before all of their Amazing Spider-Man sequel plans got put on hold and this new direction for Spider-Man was revealed. As for that new direction, Latino Review says they're not going to bother with an origin story, Spider-Man will be in high school, the...

According to all reports, Spider-Man will be making his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in next years Captain America: Civil War, but according to a new rumour, Sony Pictures, who still own the rights to the web-slinger and will be sharing him with Marvel Studios, are already looking towards Ol' Web Head's next solo adventure in 2017. According to Latino Review (who can be hit and miss when it comes to their 'scoops'), Cabin in the Wood's Drew Goddard has signed to write and direct Spider-Man's first solo effort following Sony and Marvel Studio's monumental partnership. Goddard was already attached to Spider-Man spin-off The Sinister Six, which has apparently been scrapped, and has a history with the McU's creative consultant, Joss Whedon, having worked as a writer on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, before collaborating with Whedon on Cabin in the Woods. While Goddard would be a great choice to helm a solo Spidey movie,...

Drew Goddard, who has been in the Spidey web when he was going to put together the spinoff film The Sinister Six, might be moving up. Rumors lately had him as the likely candidate to script and direct the next installment of the Spider-Man franchise. Not a lot of information on this right now, but Latino Review is reporting Drew Goddard, who was at one point writing and directing the Spider-Man spin-off Sinister Six is now turning his attention to rebooting Spider-Man at Sony, following the studio's deal with Marvel to have Spider-Man play a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There was recent word Sony was still going to move forward with The Sinister Six as well as a Venom feature, but with this news it would seem both are most likely dead... for now. The as of yet Untitled Spider-Man Project is set for a July 18, 2017 release with no one yet set to star as the newest incarnation of the webslinger. As for the plot of this new feature, word is there won't be a new origin story, but instead it will feature Spidey "auditioning" to be part of The Avengers. Considering rumors...

Further details about the specifics of Marvel and Sony's massive deal on Monday night are still trickling out and the latest seems to indicate that despite the arrangement, not much has actually changed when it comes to Sony's handling of its "Spider-Man" franchise.
First up, Variety reports that while "The Amazing Spider-Man 3" is officially and completely cancelled, the previously announced spin-off films including "The Sinister Six," "Venom" and the untitled film about female characters of the "Spider-Man" universe are still in active development.
Marvel's Kevin Feige is producing the new "Spider-Man" standalone movie aiming for a July 2017 release, but he is Not involved in any of the previously announced spinoffs. It's unclear if Drew Goddard or Alex Kurtzman are still onboard "Sinister Six" and "Venom" respectively, but "Sinister Six" will Not be released in November 2016 as previously reported.

We have some additional news to share with you about Sony Pictures' plans for a Spider-Man universe. There’s some really interesting stuff here, and it doesn’t have anything to do with the Marvel deal. This is intel on casting for several villains for the Sinister Six and Venom films that are currently in development at the studio.

After that and all of the fan hate that came along with it, Sony was looking to switch things up with the possibility of including Spider-Man, Venom, and Carnage in the spin-off.

This Week: #SonyHack whhhhaaaaaat? Some missing pieces in the Spider-Man narrative, then I'll tell you to your face: It's now very possible for Spider-Man to join the McU.
Big news, Marvel and Spider-Man fans.
I’m going to try and form a narrative, here.
The scene is April.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier provides Marvel a hit early in 2014 and manages to successfully ripple out, connecting Marvel’s TV and film properties. At around this time, internal screenings of Guardians of the Galaxy would have started to show that Marvel didn’t have a flop on their hands and the movie could at least be competitive in August.

Here comes Trouble, and I might mean that literally.
It’s been obvious from the various and absolutely crazy rumors about upcoming Spider-Man movies that Sony is struggling to find a direction for the franchise and the crazier the rumors get the more it seems like they’d rather milk the property from every single angle rather than give the main character back to Marvel. When’s that comic book movie coming out, with the ant-sized man? This and all similar questions answered in our comic book movie calendar.

Ever since Bryan Singer’s X-Men movie jump-started the comic book movie trend in 2000 (building on the stellar work of Richard Donner and Tim Burton in the decades prior), Fox, Sony, Warner Bros., Disney and Marvel Studios have all been repeatedly cashing-in on the resurgent popularity of capes, cowls and anything ending in ‘Man’.

A new report suggests Sony is rebooting Spider-Man, delaying Sinister Six and talking to Marvel about Spidey joining The Avengers. Crikey.
When The Amazing Spider-Man 2 brought home less money than its predecessor, at a point where the trend for superhero sequels is upwards, Sony knew that it had a problem. As such, it removed The Amazing Spider-Man 4 from its schedule, and pressed ahead instead with plans for Sinister Six and Venom movies, attracting the likes of Drew Goddard and Alex Kurtzman to write and direct. Furthermore, The Amazing Spider-Man 3 was put back to 2018.
However, a trip to the drawing board is now looking likely. A new report suggests that Sony is will use the Sinister Six movie, which is still planned to bring in a new Spider-Man. So bye bye Andrew Garfield if that's the case. Furthermore, it's abandoned the release date for The Amazing Spider-Man 3,...

Yesterday a rumor broke that Marvel and Sony Pictures were discussing the possibility of bringing Spider-Man into the Marvel cinematic universe. It looks like there's even more to it than that. Badass Digest received some additional intel regarding the state of Spider-Man at the studio. Judging by this recent info, it seems like the studio isn't sure what in the hell to do with the character. The site offers up three new bits of information on top of the whole Marvel rumor.
First up, there has been talk that studio is looking to reboot Spider-Man with the Sinister Six movie being developed by Drew Goddard.
"Sony is going to soft reboot Spider-Man with The Sinister Six, having a new actor playing a Spidey who works with the villains The Dirty Dozen style to take down a larger threat."
Whoa! That's a pretty big deal. Spider-Man is going to be the most rebooted superhero in history.

Spider-Man might be making a move away from Sony and into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, according to various reports. Does that mean the current Spider-Man, actor Andrew Garfield, is going along with him? Right now, plans for the future of the Spider-Man series appear to be fluid, with ripples in the current changing the direction of the series on a daily basis. Following the report that Sony and Marvel might be working together behind the scenes to allow Web head to appear in future McU movies, Badass Digest follows up with confirmation that the plan is only one of multiple possibilities that have been floated for Spidey. and at least one of them involves recasting the role, altogether. If it happens, it would be in The Sinister Six, with Drew Goddard.s movie acting like a "soft reboot" of Marc Webb.s current series. The site notes that Peter Parker...

Appearing at the Toronto Film Festival to promote his new film "99 Homes", British actor and current Peter Parker himself Andrew Garfield spoke with The Daily Beast about the divisive and often negative response in reviews for this year's "The Amazing Spider-Man 2". Garfield was well aware of the reaction, and offered up his take:
"I read a lot of the reactions from people and I had to stop because I could feel I was getting away from how I actually felt about it. For me, I read the script that Alex [Kurtzman] and Bob [Orci] wrote, and I genuinely loved it. There was this thread running through it.
I think what happened was, through the pre-production, production, and post-production, when you have something that works as a whole, and then you start removing portions of it - because there was even more of it than was in the final cut, and everything was related.

Cabin in the Woods co-writer and director Drew Goddard is hard at work developing the Sinister Six movie for Sony Pictures. The movie will bring together a team of villains who are going to put Spider-Man through even more hell than he's already been through. You'd think they'd feel a little bad for killing the love of his life, and that maybe he's already gone through enough, but nope.
Andrew Garfield is expected to return for at least one more movie… The Amazing Spider-Man 3, which comes out in 2018. But, I assumed he would have a place in the Sinister Six movie. After all, there needs to be some kind of hero in a movie full of villains, right?
While the actor was promoting his new movie 99 Homes, The Toronto Sun asked him about Spider-Man and the Sinister Six, and he gave an interesting answer:

(Cbr) It’s difficult to imagine a "Sinister Six" movie without Spider-Man’s involvement — and it sounds like we won’t have to. Although casting remains under wraps for Sony Pictures’ planned spinoff of the "Amazing Spider-Man" franchise, it appears at least one actor knows a thing or two about how the movie will manifest: Andrew Garfield, the man behind the mask of the first two "Amazing" films. Speaking with The Toronto Sun, Garfield played coy when it came to the subject of "Sinister Six," saying, “I know more than I’m allowed to say right now.” “I can say I’m really excited about Drew Goddard, who’s going to be writing and directing the 'Sinister Six' movie,” he added. “And whether I’m involved in that or not is kind of immaterial.” The “immaterial” comment makes it sound like Spider-Man’s role is insignificant in "Sinister Six," but...

When Andrew Garfield earned the rights to wear Spider-Man.s spandex in Marc Webb.s superhero series, it was the equivalent of a Lotto win for the unabashed Spidey fan. Garfield gushed to the media and to potential audiences that he grew up with Marvel.s sarcastic hero, and that he.d do right by his beloved crime-fighter. Garfield has played Spider-Man in two films to date. He.s expected back for at least one more, 2018.s The Amazing Spider-Man 3, though it.s possible the young actor is beginning to see the writing on the wall. Andrew Garfield was in Toronto to help promote Ramin Bahrani.s 99 Homes, where he stars opposite Michael Shannon in a gripping real-estate drama. But during an interview with The Toronto Sun, he had to field Spidey questions. specifically, would he be part of Drew Goddard.s The Sinister Six movie, which plans to...
