Parineeti Chopra's confessions of her depression phase in life have gone viral. The actress recently described the phase as the "worst time of her life", and said she went into a shell.
"The end of 2014 and all of 2015 - those one-and-a-half years were truly the worst time in my life. Two of my films 'Daawat-e-Ishq' and 'Kill Dil' did not work. That was my first setback. They released back-to-back and didn't work," she said.

I did not have any friends at that time.

While she took the nation by a storm at Rio Olympics 2016 recently, wrestler Sakshi Malik has now become the face of Haryana's Beti Bachao Campaign. In 2015, it was Parineeti Chopra who was roped in as the ambassador for the same. Though the reasons for the sudden change hasn't been revealed, we hear that Parineeti who has been busy with her work commitments, hasn't been able to dedicate too much of her time to the campaign. Interestingly, the fact also remains that Sakshi Malik hails from Rohtak district of Haryana which further persuaded the Government to arrive at this decision. Last seen in Kill Dil, Parineeti Chopra was on a sabbatical for a while and will now return to the silverscreen with Meri Pyaari Bindu. However, she recently did a special appearance in the action film Dishoom where she appeared along with Varun Dhawan in the song 'Jaaneman Aah'.

10. Varun Dawan (Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Main Tera Hero)

2014 was a fantastic year for music in Indian Cinema. We saw a definite shift from formularistic numbers to more nuanced tunes in step with the respective screenplays they would be featured alongside. Music directors were bold and brave, breaching familiarity and conventions to taking risks and we could not be more mesmerised by the results. Hamlet was adapted to a gritty and raw musical by Vishal Bhardwaj. Ankit Tiwari and Mithoon basically defied gravity by re-creating the magic of Aashiqui 2 with Ek Villian. Read on as Bollyspice closely chronicles 2014’s top 10 music directors.
10. Jeet Gangulay
Jeet Gangulay’s Citylights was the silent hit of 2014 with Arjit Singh’s Mukurane becoming a crowd favourite from the get-go followed closely by Mohd. Irfan’s unplugged version of the song. While Youngistan did not do well at the box office, Gangulay’s ‘Sangemarmar’ definitely left a mark. Similarly, ‘Sun Le Zara’ from Singham was equally effective.

Though the ladies of Hindi film music-dom impressed this year, it most definitely was a year for the men! Check out the 10 we thought particularly hit all the right notes!
10. Shekhar Ravjiani
Part of the killer and hit music director duo Vishal-Shekhar that have given us many a favorite song, Shekhar Ravjiani also is a fabulous singer. We heard him along with Chinmayi Sripada on the classic and oh so good love song ‘Zehnaseeb’ from Hasee Toh Phasee. Then there was one of our absolute favorite songs of the year ‘Meherbaan’ (unplugged) from Bang Bang. It really does not get much better than Shekhar and...

For the music of the films of 2014, the composers brought in classic voices, new vocal sounds and vibes and even an actress or two to bring their songs to life. Usually we limit our list to the 5 Best Female Singers but this year we had to expand to 10 in order to highlight their fabulous performances.
10. Shraddha Kapoor
For the first time an actress makes it to our Best Female Singers countdown. Shraddha not only shined in two completely different roles in Ek Villain and Haider, the young actress also showed off her lovely voice with two completely different tunes. With ‘Galliyan’ from Ek Villain, she impressed with her melodious tones. In ‘Do Jahaan’ from Haider she sang a Kashmiri folk song, about which director and composer Vishal Bhardwaj said, “After listening to the song they (Kashmiris) would want to keep you with themselves.” Perhaps one day in the future she...

2014 has truly been a year of surprises. The audiences surprised the film makers by accepting movies that perhaps 5 years ago they wouldn’t have, film makers surprised the audiences by challenging the norms of Indian cinema and taking risks with their story telling and above all, actors surprised everyone by delivering performances that we wouldn’t have pegged them to deliver. Bollyspice now brings you a list of Stand Out Performances of 2014. Not all of these performances were lead performances in their individual films but they were performances that stood out of the entire film for us.
Alia Bhatt – Highway
In a recent interview Alia Bhatt confessed that after Student of the Year she was rather disappointed because no one was simply talking about her! Comments were restricted to ‘fresh’ and ‘pleasant’ and never remotely even referring to her actual performance. So she decided in 2014 she would ensure we talk about her and only her.

Though his recent film Kill Dil did not do well at the Indian box office, it seems that the film has been garnering a good response outside and the actor decided to celebrate the occasion. Not only did he arrange a special screening for his friends and family in Lahore, Pakistan, but he also invited 50 under privileged kids for the same. But that was not all! To add to it, during this, the singer turned actor also made an announcement where he mentioned that he will be sponsoring education to 50 young girls who haven't been given the opportunity to prove their worth.

Kill Dil has turned out to be a disappointment at the box office. It was expected that the film would take a decent start at least, considering the kind of names involved as well as the fact that the theatrical promo had made some impact. Moreover, it was a solo release of the week and didn’t have much of a competition from the past either. However, as it turned out, the film took a start around 30% and didn’t show much of a growth as the days progressed. Since the reviews and word of mouth too ranged from poor to average, the game was pretty much lost on Day One itself.
All of this meant that the Shaad Ali directed film just about managed to cross the 20 crore* mark over the weekend, which is not just way less than Gunday (which belonged to the same genre and accumulated around...

Films like Kill Dil make you wonder how they were made in the first place. How could a production house like Yashraj agree to back a film with such a hackneyed plot and poor script? How could talented actors like Govinda, Parineeti Chopra, Ranveer Singh and Ali Zafar agree to be a part of this pathetic attempt at film making? Why in the world did Gulzar, The Gulzar, choose this film to lend his voice to?
Kill Dil gives us the age old plot of two orphans who grow up in the world of crime and then want out when one of them falls in love. We know how that works out, don’t we? That bit about crime being a one-way street but love triumphing over all? Director Shaad Ali probably thought that giving this old-as-the-hills plot a pulpy look would make it look all new and different. Only...

Priyanka Chopra has got a taste of her own medicine. Last year the shooting of Apoorva Lakhia's Zanjeer got postponed a couple of times because of her commitments in La.
Now, because of her Bajirao Mastani co-star Ranveer Singh's commitments, Priyanka had to take off for La when she suddenly found herself at a loose end.
Says a source, "When Ranveer took time off from the shooting of Bajirao Mastani to promote Kill Dil Priyanka was directly affected. Rather than wait for Ranveer she flew to La."
The halted schedule of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani will now resume from November 15, a day after Ranveer Singh's upcoming film Kill Dil releases.
Apparently Ranveer would not be doing any post-release publicity.

It is well-known in the corridors of Yash Raj that Parineeti Chopra is Rani Mukerji's favourite and that Rani sees a resemblance of her own spunky spirit in Parineeti. So it comes as no surprise to know that like Rani after Saathiya, Parineeti is taking a break for a while after Kill Dil. By a strange coincidence both Saathiya and Kill Dil were directed by Shaad Ali. Just before the release of Saathiya, Rani Mukerji had confessed to me that she wanted to take a break from all her further assignments until she saw audiences' reaction to Shaad's film." Parineeti Chopra sounds exactly like Rani did just before the release of Saathiya, when she says, "After Kill Dil releases, I will take a break. I won't be seen on screen for maybe the next 9-10 months." Parineeti Chopra admits she's reading a lot of scripts. "I may sign something soon.

After the spellbound result of his live sketch of veteran Amitabh Bachchan on Kaun Banega Crorepati, it is no surprise that the multi-talented Ali Zafar can also paint.
Leading his co-stars Parineeti Chopra and Ranveer Singh, Ali is excited about the prospect of painting a neighborhood wall in Mumbai with spray cans to promote their upcoming film Kill Dil.
While Ali is excited about the prospect of painting with spray cans, he is still unsure about what he will draw. “He has been asking people for suggestions and discussing the colours he wants to use,” a source close to the actor said.
Still unsure about what he will be drawing, the Pakistani actor said: “I have done murals on walls and ceilings before, but I have never done graffiti. I am looking forward to it.”

Ranveer Singh has proved yet again that he can do anything possible under the sun. Remember, the #bangbangdare he took up by dancing in the middle of a busy Bandra street in Mumbai with absolute lack of inhibition.
Well, the actor has done it again. Ranveer who is all geared up for Yash Raj Films’ Kill Dil, choreographed the song Sweeta featuring Parineeti Chopra from the film.
When Kill Dil’s choreographer Ganesh Acharya heard the track he decided to give Ranveer full liberty to do whatever he wanted in the song.
Actor Ranveer Singh said: “Ganesh sir was too sweet to let me do my thing for Sweeta. They are not steps as such. I am just having fun in the song. There was no nervous energy; only excitement all throughout.”
Choreographer Ganesh Acharya stated: “The best part about shooting Sweeta was that we gave Ranveer full freedom in the song.

The shooting of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani has been stopped for two weeks. 'Bajirao' Ranveer Singh is busy promoting his pal Shaad Ali's Kill Dil, his shaved head tucked away in caps and hats, while the historical magnum opus awaits his attention. Says a source, "There is nothing to be alarmed about. Ranveer's next release is Yash Raj films' Kill Dil and he had no time to promote the film. But now with less than two weeks to go for release, Ranveer is compelled to give attention to his film's promotion even if it means the halt of the Bajirao Mastani shooting." Interestingly, this is not the first occasion when there has been a clash of interest between Sanjay Bhansali and Shaad Ali. Previously, when Ranveer was shooting for Sanjay Bhansali's Ram Leela, Shaad Ali had to wait for Ranveer's dates.

Shooting with animals can be quite a painful task as it requires not just the training of the animals but also taming them as and when required. Many Bollywood films have featured animals till date. One such recent film is Kill Dil, wherein the film's hero Ranveer Singh calmed a horse down named 'Toofan' during the shooting of the 'Happy Budday' song. During the song's shoot, there was a sequence where Parineeti Chopra and Ranveer Singh were supposed to be on a horse with around 600 junior artists. Also, firecrackers were used for effects. Ranveer had to sit on the horse and Parineeti had to sit on his lap for the shot. In fact Parineeti was very nervous as she had never sat on a horse before this. And her worst nightmare came true when the horse started misbehaving and ran off with both the stars sitting on it. It took...

There is no big party planned as such. In the morning I will be at Yash Raj for the launch of a song from Kill Dil. I've requested the Kill Dil team to let me go before the afternoon, so I can spend the rest of the day with my parents and brother," says the birthday girl who recently gifted herself her first car, a jaguar. "I also bought a car for my parents. That really made me happy. Next on my wish list is a house. I'm saving up to buy my own place," confesses Parineeti Chopra. However material things are not the top priority on her birthday wish-list. "What I really want for my birthday is good health for my loved ones.

After months of persuasion by Salman Khan, Govinda has opted out of the Hindi remake of the Marathi film Shikshanachya Aaicha Gho which Salman is producing.
While Salman Khan reacted with characteristic sarcasm to Govinda's refusal, Govinda for the first time spoke about the matter saying, "I didn't like the subject of that film. It seemed an art film. I don't do art films. Audiences have certain expectations from me as an actor. They expect to be transported into a make believe world in my cinema. Films rooted to real life are not for me. I believe in the Rajinikanth school of entertainment which has no bearing on real life. I like doing films where you can hit your enemy from a foot's distance and still get him flying in the air."
Govinda is looking forward to the release of Shaad Ali's Kill Dil where he plays the villain.
