Rollo rides with Jarl Borg to battle against King Horik and Ragnar and betrays his friends. He kills Arne and lets Floki seriously wounded but Jarl Borg is defeated by King Horik and Ragnar. Ragnar promises to include Jarl Borg in their next raid on England. Rollo falls in disgrace with his people but the Law Giver spares his life. The outcast Rollo decides to leave their village but Siggy convinces him to stay. Out of the blue, the pregnant Princess Auslag arrives at the village and Ragnar decides to let he stay to take care of his son. Lagertha and Bjorn choose to leave the village.

"Brother's War" is one of the best episodes of "Viking". The battle in the beginning with Rollo fighting his friends is dreadful especially when he impales Arne. The reaction of the villagers is totally expected and his life is only spared because Ragnar bribed the Law Giver. Bjorn shows a great character with wonderful lines and his decision to stay with his mother is fantastic. My vote is nine.

Ok; They Are Not Losing Any Time. Are They? Warning: Spoilers
_______VIKINGS_______ Season 2. First Episode.

_______BROTHER´S WAR_______

OK; They Are Not Losing Any Time. Are They?

At a point in this episode Ragnar will tell Bjorn that unhappiness is much more common that happiness and as an example, he says that when he was his age, he had many friends, and that now all of them are dead. We will also have Rollo thinking that the gods have only given him a life of humiliation, and he will be told that the gods have given him a chance to get his right into Valhalla by a woman who probably loves him... ...But first things first: Opposite forces with rival brothers in each side fight, very probably to the death with similar, maybe equal amount of weapons and mirror-like strategy...it was a miracle that they didn´t end all dead.

Tall princess Aslaug, who claims to be a descendant of Brunhilde and Sigurd (THE Brunhild and Sigurd, heroes of the Northern SAGAS), arrives to the place of Ragnar with a son in her belly (guess whose!), and of course Lagertha won´t be exactly happy about it. Lagertha is a descendant of farmers who were proud of being farmers and is not intimidated by princess Aslaug but she sure felt displaced. Ragnar, Lagertha and Bjorn, our most important characters from season one will have to take decisions that will affect the rest of their destinies...and the season is just starting!!!!!!!

As I said, They are not losing any time!!!!!!!

Floki is probably mortally wounded, let´s hope not, it´s an interesting character. Bjorn is so far my favorite character, he is loyal and tries to be righteous and let´s hope no one kills him anytime soon. Lagertha keeps all her dignity in this episode, nobody expected less. Siggy, poor Siggy, her man always seems to be dying, almost sentenced to death or leaving, and even before that, somehow her character always seemed sad.

Thanks for reading.

A Fulfilling and Surprising Premiere

Warning: Spoilers
"Brother's War" wraps up its first major conflict in an enjoyable way that I did not expect, while it was even more satisfying to see Ragnar deal with the consequences of his actions with Aslaug last season. He gets a lot of emotional depth out of this episode, from his moment saying goodbye to Gyda, to saying goodbye to Lagertha and Björn. The cleaner, clearer visuals are also a welcome addition. However, I still think the show does struggle to effectively balance all of its cast, as characters often disappear in and out of the story in a jarringly noticeable manner.

I only have one quote
dontakeitpersonal3 February 2021
So, from the whole episode, i'm chosing to write down a quote that Ragnar said that surprised me: 'Unhappyness is more common than happyness'. I like it, got me thinking, had to laugh and agreed. I'm sorry that it has nothing really to do with a proper review, but this stayed with me and i'm going to steal it to share with others.

Bear with me...

So, one "king" offers another "king" a third of profits from disputed land. The latter king refuses, they go to "war", kill half their "armies", but after "Ragnar Whoever" the Viking makes an emotional speech about Western lands, they suddenly change their minds and decide to "raid together". I've never seen a TV show that deteriorated so much in the second season, especially considering what a humongous BS the first season was.

BS du Jour: YOU COULDN'T SAY ALL THAT DURING NEGOTIATIONS!?
