Some promise but...

Its good to see Australia producing quality flicks and Infini is certainly a competent sci fi. That said, this film could have delivered more with a little more care taken in the storytelling department.

Infini starts off well, seems to build towards something but then, inexplicably, seems to run out of ideas. The result is a somewhat listless film that fizzles out in the final third of the picture, meekly crawling towards its rather flat conclusion.

This is a real shame as there is otherwise, a lot to like. Good sets, well established atmosphere and a cast of capable actors. Not to mention nice special effects. If more care and attention had been paid to the script, this film could have been a real winner. As it stands, its only competent. Six out of ten from me.

The Quarantine Staff are the worst!
concrete_angel-6884019 June 2021
Ok, it's not the greatest film. It's a fine distraction. Personally I just enjoy looking at Daniel McPherson.

My biggest gripe with the whole thing has to be the quarantine staff. Teleportation in this world is clearly a very jarring experience, leaving people disorientated and a bit discombobulated- the staffs response to this, is to repeatedly yell at them. Behaving in a way that would make anyone want to punch the hell out of them- and then treating the subsequent anger as unreasonable.

The two scenes that this happened in are by far the most aggravating, repugnant part of an otherwise middle-of-the-road sci-fi.

Mercifully, Mr McPherson was there to calm me back down.

A movie about a group sent on a rescue mission that turns into a fight for survival
xprisma12 September 2015
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is about a special space task force sent on a dangerous mission to an outpost on the outer edge of space called Infini. Infini was a mining outpost but was shut down because the material they were supposed to mine turned out to be extremely dangerous and combustible under normal circumstances. All the miners were presumed dead but we later find out from Cart Wright they were alive (but infected) when he arrived. A team from Cart Wrights division on the East coast went to the station to search for a lone survivor but were attacked and transported back. This caused the East coast division to be terminated but Cart Wright travels to Infini to avoid the termination of his East coast division. Now the West coast is being sent to Infini to retrieve Cart Wright and stop a payload of the dangerous material on Infini from reaching earth that the previous loan survivor set up. As the task manager tells the special space task force "there's a lot of black hole B.S." but the main thing you need to know is that 1 earth minute is equal to 24 hours on Infini. Also the payload would be delivered the same way the task force travels to Infini. Of course when they get there the poop hits the fan and it's all about survival.

I wanted to write this review because I felt the negative reviews were a little harsh or didn't give this movie a fair shake. By all means this is not a masterpiece but it is a decent film to watch when nothing else is on. A lot of users have compared it to Doom, Aliens, Event Horizon and 28 Days Later. Maybe it's because I haven't watched Doom, Event Horizon or Aliens in a while but I'm not seeing the comparison besides space, aliens, and isolation. This is also not a zombie space flick. The characters in the film are only infected and very much alive. Once you kill them they are dead. No walking dead is going on here. Now here is my issue with the movie.

Spoilers may follow:

My issue with the movie is the selfishness of the characters. Apparently everyone part of this professional special force team that also has a high level of fatality has family and children. We know this because they keep mentioning it while they are on Infini. This leads to the biggest problem. Once they are infected (they realize this by the way) they are insistent on still returning to earth. Are you kidding me? Yes we get that you want to see your family and loved ones again but you are literally putting them in danger while giving a giant "FU" to the human race. Towards the end everyone is dead besides Cart Wright who has given up and decided to die up there. He leaves a recording for the alien organism that caused the infection, and puts it on repeat before cutting his wrist and bleeding out. At this point I was wondering why he didn't blow up the station or freeze it again. That was explained very quickly because Cart Wright's message had an effect on the alien organism. The alien organism has a change of heart, and heals the recently dead specialists (healing/regenerating ability is explained earlier in film). Also apparently one of the members had an abortion and one of the visual scenes shows life being recreated in her. Um, what?

Anyway all of them remember what happened except for the captain because he died before everything got crazy. So the now the revived crew lies to the captain about the events so he can authorize their return to earth. These are professionals, right? Like they know what happens when they are re-introduced to the population, right? After they are transported back to earth they are temporarily quarantined and asked multiple times if they have been infected. They of course deny this and the interrogators/ quarantine squad say they will know if they're lying. This is how far in the future and we still don't have a decent lie detector machine? Also the crew was acting way suspicious. Especially Cart Wright. You don't need a lie detector to read facial expressions to realize something is off.

Despite this annoyance (along with taking off their helmets) it was still a decent film.

Rigor Vitae

Warning: Spoilers
"All animals are under stringent selection pressure to be as stupid as they can get away with." - Robert Boyd

Shane Abbess directs "Infini". The plot? In the 23rd century, humanity has developed "slipstream" technology capable of teleporting human beings hundreds of light-years away. This technology is used to send a search and rescue team to an off-world mining colony. Their objective? Rescue Whit Carmichael (Daniel MacPherson), the lone survivor of what seems to be a biological attack.

During its second half, "Infini" informs us that humans on the mining station have been killed by an alien species. A genuinely fascinating creature – similar to Octavia Butler's Oankali - this alien observes and infects all living organisms encountered. The alien then selects from its prey what it deems to be "alpha traits"; traits deemed to be beneficial for survival. The alien then reconfigures itself via genetic self-regulation, such that it now possesses or absorbs these selected traits. By constantly absorbing "alpha traits", by constantly adapting, growing and morphing, the creature remains at the bleeding edge of (self-directed) biological evolution.

What Shane Abbess seems interested in, however, is the traits his alien becomes preoccupied with. After confronting human beings, the alien begins "drawing out" emotions of rage and hate, thereby causing its prey to go violently insane. The alien also begins creating facsimiles of humans which exhibit heightened aggression, fury and madness. Filled with loving memories of his wife, Whit Carmichael is able to resist the alien's attempts to tease out these baser instincts. Whit does this repeatedly throughout the picture, using sheer willpower to keep his emotions in check. Like the alien, Whit thus seems able to actively control his own biology. His mind triumphing over matter, Whit then challenges the alien to choose "better" genetic/emotional traits to adopt. The alien obliges, chooses altruism over aggression, and ceases to be a violent parasite. It henceforth starts creating "helpful" and "benevolent" human facsimiles. Whether the alien has genuinely mellowed, learnt a valuable philosophical lesson, or whether it is adopting a benign facade for the purpose of covert infiltration, is left ambiguous.

"Infini's" alien may be interesting, but Abbess' convoluted plot does it little justice. "Slipstreaming" turns out to be totally unnecessary for the tale Abbess ultimately intends to tell, and the film features a wholly unnecessary subplot in which our heroes terminate a shipment of explosive material bound for earth. A better writer would have jettisoned all this erroneous material and got down to film's point. Elsewhere the film's derivative of "Event Horizon", "The Thing", "Pandorum" and the "Alien" franchise. Luke Hemsworth co-stars.

6/10 – Worth one viewing.

A jumbled mess of a film that borrows (steals) from many other better ones...
savcam50019 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
It's a mix of John Carpenter's The Thing, Event Horizon, and Aliens, with a smattering of Prometheus...

Prometheus, if only because the Search and Rescue team foolishly remove their helmets and protective gear when they know that a deadly, unidentified and powerful contagion or contaminant is present ("purged air" be damned). Being such an "elite" unit, this was simply a plot contrivance so that the whole team could be exposed and thus become infected.

The beginning of the film was hectic and frenzied, the middle rather dull and repetitive, and the ending (whichever interpretation you choose) was either feel-good silliness or just silly.

Many of the effects are passable, bad CGI was kept to a minimum, and the sets are reasonably well done on what must've been a very small budget (a lot of dark hallways and flexible plastic drainage pipes, blinking lights, dangling wires and steam, lots and lots of steam. One of the strangest parts of the set are the monochromatic computer screens from the mid 1980s, as well as a few other pieces of equipment which were obsolete by the end of the 20th Century). Many of the props (most notably their weaponry) are terrible, they're obviously just several pieces of plastic glued together.

All of the aforementioned issues can be easily overlooked when the story, characters, and acting are interesting and engaging. They were not. Not. At. All. The dialogue and acting are horrible; it's either stiff, wooden, and unnatural or ridiculously over-the-top, obnoxious scenery chewing. Those are your two choices. The story was hackneyed and filled with nonsensical technobabble and tremendously stupid decisions (all made just to serve the "plot"); it was very often a chore to sit through long stretches of the film.

Also, annoying shaky cam, jump cuts, and frenetic editing are still alive and well in the 23rd century.

And that just about does it.

I'm trying to think of other films that were either stolen from (or to be kind, that this film was an "homage" to)?

Pandorum is another one that comes to mind....

Retro Sci Fi Horror
thisisbs91110 May 2015
This film borrows a lot from classic sci fi horror movies, you get some of the tech from alien, a little bit of Event Horizon, and has the claustrophobia of The Thing. For a movie made on such a low budget, its pretty good. Maybe not quite on the level of some of the films I've mentioned but still a lot of fun.

A group of colonial marines like characters start off on a search and rescue mission in a far away outpost. Who's alive? Who's dead? You don't really know at the start, but the movie takes its own twist which will be fun for sci fi fans. Its a little weak in the latter half of the 3rd act, too many repeating scenes. I think some things could've been cut.

Overall, its an enjoyable sci fi horror movie. It knows what it is, the actors play their parts well. And even though it borrows heavily from earlier works it still has a fresh ending. Worth checking out especially because this genre is sadly neglected.

The Spoils of Meh.
Anrkey9 May 2015
Warning: Spoilers
A group of soldiers are sent in to save earth from a ship that is on the other side of the known universe, in fact, it's at the edge of the universe. So far away that they get to utter the words, time slippage. This ship somehow poses an immediate threat to humanity because it's on its way to Earth, from the other side of the universe traveling at... unknown speed. It could arrive at any moment, say, 50,000,000,000,000,000 years from now.

At some point the script may have actually lost me. I'm guessing it was within the first 10 minutes or so. So my analysis may not be 100% accurate. But it is an accurate portrayal of just how confusing the entire thing is.

Stopping the ship is only one part of the mission. The other is to save a lone survivor who escaped from some other tragic event but managed to land in the worst place in the universe while doing so. How is this possible? How did he end up there and how will the elite unit travel to save him? By using a spell that's only allowed by one man from within Hogwart's Castle - they apparate. Sound science.

As they arrive, they are treated to an Event Horizon like atmosphere. No Latin is spoken, but it may have been more discernible than what was being said in English and I went to art school. Never took a lick of Latin but it would have made more sense.

So they find the guy by himself trapped in a room, who's managed the learn the dead languages known as Binary and ASCII. This allows him to control the highly advanced edge of the universe type ship using a keyboard that still has a cord attached to it. The monitors are thankfully not done in full 32bit color and harken back to a more advanced age of monochromatic interfacing. If all hell didn't break lose, there may have been time for a game of pong.

They all go crazy and start killing each other because remember the virus - i mean, most advanced life form ever. The fight sequences play out as if they were directed by a former WWE jobber.

Anyways, the life form just doesn't understand us at all and now everyone is dead but thankfully, before our hero dies at the end he gets to deliver a dialog that's so amazing, it's actually said TWICE. It's so long and profound, they decided it would be a good idea to show him saying it and then do a montage of him saying again as it panned over all the dead bodies.

Then everyone wakes up and goes home. 3 out of 10 because I somehow managed to make it through.

Entertaining Sci Fi
purpleprinc39 May 2015
Overall I think this was a good movie. The acting was convincing, the characters came across naturally and with conviction. It's not a complicated film to understand. You find out what goes on gradually as the characters do and that's a nice touch, keeping you in suspense as you don't quite know what's happening or what comes next. The movie pulls you into its world, the storyline was plausible as far as futuristic sci fi's goes, the characters kept you engaged and you felt for them as they struggled. I would recommend this film if you're a fan of sci fi's, and to those who aren't because it doesn't use silly effects to keep you engaged, it has just the right balance. Fun, entertaining mind twisting thriller.

Not Good...Not good at all
metz-jewlla14 September 2015
Warning: Spoilers
The lack of storyline and any coherence in this film makes it about as enjoyable as going to work after a bank holiday weekend. Do not bother.

It is about some pretty cool space idea with the idea of dangerous space travel using some strange technique. The first 45 minutes are generally a film alone however then you sit there thinking - what on earth are they going to show us for the next hour? It continues to thoroughly follow no real coherent direction with many characters simply growling at each other or punching each other in the head again and again and...again.

It has some good ideas but they were clearly chosen to be cut out of the film as it progresses. In summary it wants to be a kind of cross between DOOM and Alien but is severely lacking in any suspense build up and interesting action scenes.

Like The Crazies in space
alvelaisa17 May 2015
First I must give this movie credit where credit is due: it is the first to tackle horror and fear in space in a long while, possibly even since Event Horizon. We follow the exploration of a rescue team called to investigate disappearances aboard a space station, and the results are chaos at best. Throughout the film we are given slight nods to old horror films, and even such tropes from video games like Dead Space. The set pieces are well done, with tiny corridors and steamy pipes strewn about. The film handles much like The Crazies, in which the space station inhabitants are driven mad by a virus. Where the movie differs, is in its refusal to reduce these characters to zombies. Much like the original outing of I Am Legend, these feral beings battle intimately with their sanity, using old memories to trap prey, making for a more sensible attempt at fearsome enemies. Overall not a bad film, a good indie sci fi as well. Worth a watch at least.

Liked the idea
Sergiodave18 November 2020
The basis of the plot is a good one, though not original. The movie movie had a few plus points, but the negatives were big. 1. Will writers/ directors please ,stop making every contagion a zombie / rabid virus, try using some imagination. 2. The pace of the movie was at times excruciatingly slow. 3. Why do Science Fiction horror movies almost all follow either Alien, Event Horizon or the Thing, and some follow all 3. There are plenty of great writers out there with originality, stop playing safe, it's boring.

Something out of nothing....
vipinkberwal16 May 2015
This movie had something in it which makes me ask why only 5.4/10 at IMDb... The movie has all ingredients to entertain, a good dialogue script, a very unique and an engaging plot, a proper ending, well portrayed expressions from all the actors. Somewhere in the movie you might think of set problems in the camera, sometimes you might try to predict the ending but this thing was way off all that, a total surprise.

Frankly speaking I found animation in a few incidents compromising, but the movie makes for all of it. This movie is way better than 80% Sci-fi stuff we usually find everywhere. Don't hesitate, a very good thriller to watch.

8/10 from my side.

Very Good Sci fi
swf6410 May 2015
WOW don't buy into the rating on this one.

This is very good science fiction. The characters are developed. The settings are first class. The best thing about this movie is the story.

The story is well paced and above average for a science fiction movie.

This isn't a A level title with Tom Cruise or George Clooney, but it's not far off the mark, and it uses the blood and violence to bring home a story that's real and heartfelt.

Real science fiction for real science fiction fans. Easy 7.

A team of elite soldiers travel to a remote outpost that is home to an indigenous life form. If you think you might like this movie it will exceed expectations.

Waste of viewers' time
dennisdavydov29 June 2015
This movie is just another set of clichés. Any sci-fi fan will immediately draw parallels with iconic sci-fi pictures, which makes it unbearable to watch, since these parallels are not for the benefit of the picture in question. One can easily guess what the end will be, what the next actions of all the personages will be etc. The acting is another catastrophe of the movie. It's linear, pale and rather amateur. The visual effects may seem decent in the beginning of the movie, but this hopes evaporates at the fifth minute of the time-line. Even antagonists (zombies or whatever you want to call them) lack visual realism and intimidation.

Incoherent rubbish ruins a good idea
malphadour19 August 2016
Warning: Spoilers
It starts off with a nice explanation at the start of the movie to tell you what its about.

Then you enter a world created by the worst sound engineer in history----or maybe the greatest as he does everything he can to make sure that you can barely hear or understand the absolute garbage script of this film.

I had to replay scene after scene to try and work out what they were saying. A lot of the time because it turns out what they were saying made no sense or had absolutely nothing to do with the scene they were in.

The producer did a great job and the sets are bang on except for the very strange use of old style monitors with a mono text interface. Why - its the 23rd century - these were old fashioned by 1995!!! The premise is pretty good and so is the general plot to start out with, but the directing and obvious chainsaw editing are appalling and coupled with the gibberish script end up making you wonder when its going to end.

There are lots of scenes trying to show people slowly going crazy but they are just clumsy and really badly cut together.

Overall the film has that sort of Alien feel to it but with almost zero tension. It feels like the director shot a scene, then went a way for a few months, came back made another scene then went away......its like a series of scenes glued together and ends up making not a lot of sense and certainly does not feel like a story.

worst sci fi of the year so far - I really don't see what people saw when they scored this 8 or 9 - you might give it a 5 if you really dig the sets but that's about it.

Keep your expectations low so you may be pleasantly surprised.

'Infini' the independent Australian film made on low budget with most, maybe all of its actors doing their roles for free is an entertaining chunk of screen that has no shortages of head f@cks.

The film takes on the familiar style of Ridley Scott's 'Prometheus'. A group of scientists or in this case soldiers jump both feet in to the challenge that comes before them only to find themselves neck deep in grueling and unforgiving mess. This film requires you to invest. I found myself in its opening scenes being battered by unoriginal script writing and low grade acting that filled me with dis-contempt. However if you persist, are open minded and know how to watch films for what they are and not what you expect them to be. 'Infini' will hopefully, like it did me, leave you wanting more and more.

Only after stumbling upon a trailer of this film, post its date of release as listed on its IMDb page did I even know this film existed. Its under budgeted so that means under marketed. This film has room to evolve and expand but with such little funding, its hard to see these ideals becoming reality.

If you can keep an open mind and enjoy films for what they are then give 'Infini' your undivided attention. Its at times hard to follow, confronting and different. However keeping in mind its little budget, 'Infini' once its final scenes had finished, imprinted in my mind. I will be recommending this to others in time to come while I keep my eyes peeled for any word of what to is come of this sci-fi flick and the team that helped bring it to life.

Not as good as Predestination, but damn close. Yes, we aussies can do sci-fi!
punishable-by-death13 May 2015
A new name to me, Shane Abbess directed Gabriel in 2007, a movie that didn't rake in the cash but gained a cult following, and he made the move to Hollywood. That was around six-seven years ago. To paraphrase Abbess, he was an Aussie independent filmmaker, which meant he was always fighting against what he wanted to do. That ever elusive final cut, or at least something close to creative control. Unsurprisingly, coming from our minor film industry, Abbess wasn't versed in how Hollywood works: like a business, and this resulted in the butting of heads. Remember Source Code? Not a bad film. Shane worked as director for two years until creative differences had him fired. So Shane decided to come back to Australia, deciding to make the most anti-Hollywood, anti-conventional movie he could.

Based in 2027, the world is mining planets across the cosmos via slipstreaming – a form of teleportation that we are told is considered dangerous due to risks involved. No further details are given as the film thrusts us into a frenetic opening scene, multiple superiors questioning soldiers over and over. Here and elsewhere through the film, the sound-editing is brilliant. The scene becomes more chaotic as questions overlap answers, to the point where nothing intelligible can be heard. We again are given no explanation, and the scene quickly ends, leading us to the start of the narrative proper where we meet rookie solider Carmichael and his new squad.

Without explaining the entire film, the premise is that resources are mined from planets across the cosmos via slipstreaming. It does not take long for the action to start as a squad returns from a mission in very bad shape. It isn't clear what has happened, but what is immediately clear is that the building is locking down, resulting in a lethal quarantine. Barely ten minutes into the movie and the action has begun.

We are then taken to another part of this outfit, a search and rescue team. They have a mission to achieve on a far planet, a former mining base that has been shut permanently, and as their superior is explaining the mission he hears about the incident we have just seen. One person survived, and he did this by slipstreaming out of the building onto the same planet their mission is targeting. This giant coincidence is easily swallowed though by the action that follows. The soldiers find Carmichael, but there is something very different about this planet, as the team soon learns. An unexpected guest suddenly crashes the party in violent fashion and the movie explodes into action, as this sequence leads to an outbreak of sorts, not an original premise, but the nature of the outbreak most certainly is. The less I write and the less you read about the plot the better. Go in blind, and don't watch the trailer! Infini is far from perfect; the character development is pretty thin save for lead Carmichael, and the action scenes are shot in that awful style where the camera is too close and switches angles far too often. Why forty different angles are needed for one action sequence I don't know, but it doesn't look good. The final act maintains the tension for the most part, but the final sequences felt underwhelming and almost disappointing given the unique ideas already established.

In contrast to this though, the path the film travels down is most certainly different, and at times oddly disturbing. There are many thoughtful themes at play, which unfortunately aren't explored further. The psychological element of this film is its strong point, with characters often a serious threat to themselves. Hallucinations are shown in a very erratic and immersive way, while the sound is used well again to create a distorted sense of reality that matches that of the characters. The use of special effects looks great too, as does most of the camera-work. This certainly doesn't look like it was shot in one massive shed. MacPherson is simply brilliant, nailing the range of emotion Carmichael goes through with ease. Pretty damned good for a TV-hack! 4/5 – Infini isn't a must-see film, but it certainly is for anyone who loves sci-fi, and is one of the more unique films I have seen in a while. A little too conventional in its execution to be anti-Hollywood, but the imagination is there in spades. Recommended!

Started hopefully, then went downhill and crashed

Warning: Spoilers
I'm a fan of sci-fi, for instance I like "Event Horizon" (1997) from Paul W. S. Anderson (with Sam Neill, Lawrence Fishburne and many others) very much and the first two parts of the "Alien"-Saga, too. Now this movie pretended to be cool but wasn't at all. The beginning and approximately first 20 minutes were not so bad, but then everything went wrong and the movie became a boring mess. It's been a while since I watched such a bad movie. If you do not want to waste your time (or money), miss this one.

!!!!! warning: maybe spoilers ahead !!!!!

Two slightly positive aspects: 1) the design of the helmets; 2) the exploration of the iced station. I think the makers were too ambitious yet didn't manage to write a decent script. Almost all characters were so unlikeable that I didn't care what happened to them, even the main character named Whit. The dialogs were awful, too. Unfortunately, except of the beginning there were no suspense and no real scares, but senseless yelling, running, beating, blood and gore. The twist in the end came out of the blue and was somehow ridiculous.

A compartmentalized world, anguish coming from humans.
kytetiger21 April 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Infinity (2015)

A team of soldiers is sent to the "Infini" colony, after it has been the victim of a mysterious catastrophe.

The starting pitch is highly classic: a team is involved in the rescue of survivors, but look, seems like there was a hidden agenda (eg think of Doom). What is interesting here is that the threat comes mainly from humans, madness that infects and makes them act under the impulse of instinct, seeking to kill, to be the sole survivor, as plagued by a wild struggle. However, the final is kind of meh. I found it a bit easy, no twist or surprising revelation and not specifically exploring some left aspects and questions, this leaves thus the door open for potential sequels

The director Shane Abbess therefore explores the evil that strikes the protagonists, taken by schizophrenia. Evil can arise from the heart of each and it is through a series of rapid and delirious montage, accompanied by discontinued voice, dialogues and pictures, we see the characters sink, even our brave Carmichael must fight against his murderous impulses.

To do this, the actors do not hesitate to push their character, changing attitudes, leaving the door open to delirium or conflict. Although they are kind of stereotyped and are note very sensitive enough to create sets or compassion, everyone is different enough to avoid duplicate characters.

I found dared to base the majority of the film on the pitch, but it works. The risk comes from the madness each individual. By cons, many scenes seem stretched or are repeated, the film might gain with a few cuts here and there.

The tension is weld held, with frequent twists, but the director also knows how to build it through sustained montage, fast and dense, seeking discomfort in disagreements and oral arguments. Music is also stressful, strong and well directed.

The decorations are simple, recycling the same corridor from different angles, but the use of contrast and traces of blood, giving a feeling of dirt everywhere, help to give a personality to the station.

A compartmentalized world, anguish coming from humans.

Zombies in Spaaaaaaace!
JoeB1312 August 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Another Zombie movie set in space.

They set it up with a lot of boring techno-babble about slipstreams and people teleporting but at the end of it all, it's just an elaborate setup for a Zombie Movie where we can see a lot of gross- out special effects.

The sets and special effects are quite nice. It's too bad no one bothered to populate them with interesting characters.

And, um, that's about it, really. If you've seen one zombie movie or alien movie, you've seen this movie, usually with better actors.

I would be remiss if I point out the one big problem. When the space marines or whatever they are supposed to be teleport over to this space station, where they already know there's like a Zombie Plague, they are all wearing nice space suits that would have protect them from infected splatter/ Of course they take them off before the shooting starts... because, why not?

My only negative point is, the script can't keep up the good promise it's building, in the final half hour. If these guys had the budget of one of the ultra boring new Star Wars movies, God knows what would have happened.

The blender references is actually a thumbs up. Take a bit of everything (horror, psychological and so on) and make it work. Love it.

The atmosphere is perfect, the entire movie, it's an art. The acting is good, not stellar, but nobody drags the movie down, so the entire cast delivers. Enjoyed it. CG are good and support the movie and it's not a movie build around CG.

Whoever did the music of the movie, I was sublime.

Just what the heck did I just watch?

I gave this two stars. One day this man that was in his second year studying Philosophy decided he wants to become a painter, but somehow manages to get into Film School instead. He's also slightly autistic. So yeah - he made a movie called "Infini". More than half of the movie I did not understand what they were talking about. Endless scenes that should't be there bored me to death. By the end of it I was getting restless and just wanted to gouge my eyes out already. There's something really wrong about this movie. I can't put my finger on it but I think the dialog is all messed up. Words keep coming out of the actor's mouth and they are not gibberish but by the end of the phrase you have absolutely no idea what has been said, what purpose does it serve or how exactly do those words help the viewer understand what is going on on the screen.

Pleasantly surprising, good sci-fi!!

As always I started weighing my choices of movies for the evening by consulting several movie-review sites, amongst which also IMDb. When I saw the 5.4 rating I thought it might be some kind of cheap-shot bad attempt at movie-making, however after going through some of the reviews here (most of which were actually encouraging) I decided to give it a try anyway. What I got was almost 2 hours of so much tension that afterward I realized I had literally not moved my face away from the screen during the whole movie. Personally I like this kind of sci- fi. The dark, claustrophobic, tense scenario provides for a genuine thrill. Character development is not very deep (it's not exactly that kind of movie), but is certainly not lacking. The production value is up to standards as well, good CGI but definitely not overdone (did not need to be overdone as no compensation for a lack of plot is needed). The movie reminds me a bit of Pandorum (2009) and Sunshine (2007). My only comments on the script/plot is that they could have cut several scenes short by a few sentences, which would not have resulted in any loss of quality and would have maybe improved the progression slightly. But I dare to say that Infini is better than 90% of the sci-fi stuff produced in the last 10 years. I absolutely loved this movie and would recommend it to any true sci-fi fan.

Solid, entertaining sci-fi to feed your need

My thirst for this type of sci-fi movie will never be quenched. I think we all just crave space exploration/adventure/horror/suspense stories as long as they are well told and bother to work out the details as this movie did. I would say this is pretty good, not Aliens awesome but pretty engaging. I really liked the casting; no one looked familiar and that's okay - they did a very convincing job. The story was never cheesy. I found it pretty simple but it had integrity and kept my interest throughout till the surprise ending. I would definitely see a sequel especially if it explored more the time travel first responders angle as I got a rush from that.

28 days later...in space

Warning: Spoilers
And a whole bunch of other movies like"the thing"and even longer ago"invasion of the body snatchers".

The ooze reminded me of "ghostbusters 2"and you can probably make a very long list from which the director/writer borrowed from.

The whole"I'm gonna be father so I have to get home"added useless drama and made it very predictable.

I liked some of the nasty visuals but most of that is shown after the action so we never get to see that.

I felt the ending was cheap like the writer himself did not know what else to do with it and just say let the perfect organism win and be done with it.

Some of the characters were decent but most of them highly underwritten so they're just starting to act crazy and get killed.

Maybe if your very bored or haven't seen to much other movies it might entertain you.

But for me its something totally forgettable.

Infinite. Repeat.
