This film was intended to be used for propaganda purposes by the Soviet government in order to facilitate the repatriation of Diasporan Armenians to Soviet Armenia after the Second World War. It was also intended to create support for the USSR among Diasporan Armenians in general. However, the film was canceled half-way through its production on direct orders from Soviet leader Joseph Stalin. According to actor Artyom Karapetyan (who starred in the film in his first onscreen role), Bek-Nazaryan was personally hurt by Stalin's decision. The completed portions of the work no longer exist.
