Edward Snowden ? Isn't he the bloke who worked for the American National Security Agency and thought it might be a good idea to pass on 200,000 classified documents to the world press ? I'm sort of guessing he's broken the rules of his employee contract and like every bad employee he blames the company for his doings rather than his own actions . It should be taken as read that all governments are untrustworthy and conduct themselves in clandestine surveillance . What Snowden has revealed is never trust the government and I look forward to the shock discovery that the Pope is Catholic and bears poo in the woods . Are we so short of heroes we have to find them in the likes of Snowden , Bradley Manning and Julian Assange ?
This five minute short film entitled VERAX follows the breaking of the Snowden case . From a technical point of view it's more than competent with fairly impressive cinematography and editing . In many ways it reminded me of an advert , especially along the lines of " Come to Hong Kong to enjoy the hustle and bustle of a crowded island " or " Get the most out of your computer " . Perhaps most of all it reminded me of a begging letter along the lines of " Hey we've just made a short film / trailer//opening five minute scene and if you give us several million dollars we'll make another 85 minutes to go with it " . Sorry but begging should best be left to drunken , degenerate dead beats holding paper cups on city streets. Also considering the box office failure of THE FIFTH ESTATE it looks like the public appetite for Whistler blowers is non existent . Good because nobody likes a grass . If it's heroes you want that will capture the public imagination let's see a movie featuring some working class lad literally fighting to change the world against violent misogynistic theocrats
