Pierre Bokma is one of the most acclaimed actors of the Netherlands, here playing the lead role of Dutch banker and e nfant terrible Rijkman Groenink. According to some, Groenink is presented as a caricature, something I cannot confirm nor deny. Bokma plays well, that I cán confirm.
Personally, I wouldn't have chosen to go see this one - another costly film about another costly chapter in the financial sector - but that happened anyway. And even though it's moderately interesting to learn about some of the background to the ABN-AMRO debacle, it consists of mostly dull scenes with (of course) lots of dialogues and office-, luxury car- and restaurant interiors. There are some scenes that are supposed to be more inspired / inspiring, such as the trip to the desert or at the end when Groenink gets delirious, but they don't work at all; I get the point, but not the feel of it.
I can't say that it's a terrible miniseries, there's plenty of fine acting in it wherein Anniek Pheifer deserves a special mention, but the whole is rather bland and dull.
