Elena Gilbert: [at car] Hey.
Damon Salvatore: Hey, we're leaving. Pack your stuff.
Elena Gilbert: I will, uh... I came out to see how you're doing.
Damon Salvatore: I'm in a hurry. You should be too. The Travelers can find us.
Elena Gilbert: So, that's it? We're not gonna talk about this?
Damon Salvatore: What's there to talk about?
Elena Gilbert: I'm sorry that I lied to you.
Damon Salvatore: I don't care that you lied. Really.
Elena Gilbert: Okay, I am... confused. Why are you being like this?
Damon Salvatore: Because you were right, Elena. You wanna protect me so I wouldn't spiral. If I spiral, then it would prove that we shouldn't be together. But I didn't spiral. Despite every nerve in my body wanting to break something or hurt someone, do all the right things for all the wrong reasons, I'm holding together the best I can... for you.
Elena Gilbert: But you're still mad at me?
Damon Salvatore: Of course I'm still mad at you. Just being around you drives me nuts. Not being around you... drives me nuts.
Elena Gilbert: Okay, now I'm really confused.
[shakes her head... and then, he reaches out, kisses her]
Elena Gilbert: What was that for?
Damon Salvatore: Because I've had a really... crappy day.
[shakes his head]
Damon Salvatore: And I needed it.
[walks off, leaving her flustered]

Caroline Forbes: Don't you think that Stefan and Elena are being all...
[mimics covert behaviour]
Damon Salvatore: No, clearly I don't.
Caroline Forbes: Secretive? I caught them being all hushed and whispery at the car this morning. And now, they're getting firewood out of the shed together, which apparently takes twenty minutes.
Damon Salvatore: You know, now that you mention it, Elena got all cagey when I brought up Enzo.
Caroline Forbes: No, no, I'm not talking about Enzo. Im I'm talking about Stefan and Elena.
Damon Salvatore: How much have you had to drink?
Caroline Forbes: [sighs] Come on! She's single now, you two are on the outs.

Caroline Forbes: Enzo's dead?
Stefan Salvatore: Yeah, I, uh... I killed him.
Caroline Forbes: [scoffs, shakes her head] So my powers of deduction really suck. Why didn't you say anything?
Stefan Salvatore: Because it's complicated.
Damon Salvatore: [entering] Enter the complication. Enzo's dead. You killed him. Elena told me.
Caroline Forbes: [to Damon] So you didn't know either?
Damon Salvatore: Nope.
Caroline Forbes: And their secret really was about Enzo.
Damon Salvatore: Yup.
Stefan Salvatore: You guys think we could, uh... talk about this some other time?
Damon Salvatore: [disdainful] By all means, brother. At your convenience!
Stefan Salvatore: Listen, the Other Side is falling apart, and I think it's allowing Enzo to mess with us.
Damon Salvatore: Enzo! You in here?
Lorenzo 'Enzo' St. John: [his presence has been there all along, sat there looking at them casually] I don't reckon I'd miss this.
Stefan Salvatore: Knock it off!
Caroline Forbes: This doesn't make any sense. If Enzo wanted to kill Elena, drowning her wouldn't have worked.
Lorenzo 'Enzo' St. John: [unseen ghost] Smart girl. I can see why you like her so much.
Caroline Forbes: Maybe he was trying to scare us.
Lorenzo 'Enzo' St. John: Getting warmer... Come on! You've almost got it. What is Enzo up to?
Damon Salvatore: Drowning Elena was just a distraction. He figured out a way to kill us all in one fell swoop.
Lorenzo 'Enzo' St. John: [still unseen ghost] Did I mention that I missed you?
