Not good
Leofwine_draca20 March 2018
Warning: Spoilers
THE ATTACHMENT is another low rent British horror/thriller indistinguishable from dozens of others. It's something of a cheap detective story with a small town setting. A girl is chosen as the vehicle of possession by an ancient demon and a priest is called in to help. Expect lots of poor technicalities and editing, general goofiness, and the expected EXORCIST rip-off climax. It's not good.

Dreafully boring and a waste of your time
HerrSupahz29 October 2016
Boring, to the point that "boring" becomes an understatement. In no way scary. Poorly acted. Dreadful effects. A complete waste of time.

The acting is mostly high school drama class level, starting with the priest, continuing with the "flashback" teens and right on through with most of the rest of the cast, reaching a low with the Entity (demon). Leah Cooper and Duncan Malcolm are fine, but the rest... no.

The Entity (Michelle Coverley) could use acting lessons... MANY acting lessons. There's nothing intimidating, scary or convincing about her acting. She's awful, almost as if she was trying to do a parody, but couldn't even pull that off. She's distractingly bad, and it makes you wonder how they could have watched her and thought that it was "good to go". Maybe if they had used some audio processing to add some menace to her voice she wouldn't have been so bad. Maybe. We won't know (thankfully).

The "effects" are a joke.

There's no way anyone likes this film with more than 3 stars without being attached to the film in some way, either as a cast/crew member or a relative/friend. There's just no way.

Basically, "low budget" is no excuse. If you can't afford decent actors, a good story, or decent effects, then you shouldn't make the movie in the first place. You don't get a ribbon just for trying. Don't do it if you can't do it right. And for the record, there are any number of low budget films that did do it right. This will never be confused with those.

This is so bad!
swetlanaborowka12 September 2016
This is the first time that I watched a movie without reading reviews before. But in this case it wouldn't have helped me because the reviews are mostly good. All the good reviews so far must come from the people who made this film or their family. It is impossible that an unbiased person likes this crap. We have here a Z-Film from the UK. It is so bad that I think some town folks bought a camera and made a movie after working hours. No professional film maker could come up with such bad acting. The script is mere terrible and a copy of every bad horror movie about religious evil ever made. The effects would shame Ed Wood. And the evil villain would bore a toddler. It is ridiculous! Don't waste your time with this piece of trash.

No effort Film, Painful to watch
nicolasdgiovanni11 October 2016
This is a really bad movie. The plot is all over the place, the acting leaves much to be desired, the production was of poor value and the directing is so incompetent that its countless failures are impossible to ignore.

Sadly, the execution of this British horror film failed in every possible way. The visual presentation and plot of the movie feels like a group of people got randomly wasted one night at the bar and then decided to make a scary film at their friends house. Watching it you can tell no effort or originality went into the creation and execution of this movie.

A person not connected to the film or anyone in it would never give it the positive reviews this film has gotten.

It was so poorly done that is was painful to watch. Fortunately, I watched on YouTube so thankfully I didn't have waste money on it, but if you are considering paying to watch this film- save your money.

Not a good sign when only the actors are giving it a positive review
BritneyJamerson198912 October 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Just god awful. This wasn't a movie as much as it was a disorganized mess from start to finish. The only positive thing I can say about this film is it started off being a horror movie about a demonic girl haunting a family and ended being a cautionary tale about the horrors of watching a film by an unskilled director.

I was floored to see how may positive reviews this film had. I don't read reviews prior to viewing anything but in this instance it would not have helped anyway. The overwhelming amount of people calling this great or a hidden gem are blatantly lying because they starred in the film or are friends with the director, Clement Ofoedu. Notice how many people address the director by name in these reviews. No objective person would call this piece of trash a good film.

The reviews read like the director or his mom begged the actors, family members and friends to write a good review to give him a pat on a back. This is very low and dishonest. It is one thing to make a trash film but it is another to have your friends misrepresent the film has a great and as a result trick people out of their earnings or time.

Clement, if you are reading this, get another job or go to film school and come early and stay late because you have so much more to learn about film before you get behind a camera ever again. I doubt you will take my advice but at the very least you can be a decent person and NOT trick people into watching your crappy film by having your friends write fake reviews. That is very sleazy.

I normally don't write reviews but I honestly believe people are being taken advantage of by this director and his heavily biased reviews so I thought it right to be honest. This film is excruciatingly horrible. Don't waste your time or money on it.

If you don't believe me, check the discussion boards for this film. Beyond terrible.

Meet the worst movie ever made!
SterlingWilliams19596 October 2016
I found this movie on YouTube and thought I would give it a go. This was truly one of the worst decisions I have ever made whilst legless at 3am and I am including the time I woke up Thailand next to a lady-boy. Picture The Hangover 2 expect far less pretty but I digress. The Attachment was a terrible movie. I could barely get through the full two hours but once I completed it I found myself wishing I never wasted those two hours of my life I can never get back. The movie severely lacks story development, depth and there were no stand-out actors. Without any of these key elements in this film it is impossible for viewers to relate to the underdeveloped characters or the non existent story-line. This movie is waste of both time and film. This is quite possibly the worst film ever made. This is why I was shocked to see so many positive reviews for this film until I noticed all of the reviewers, like the film, are based in London and therefore either acted in the film or are friends and family of this abysmal filmmaker. Trust me this movie is proper trash, do not waste your time watching it.

utterly terrified
isahems8 March 2020
There is something truly terrifying about this film. I read the other reviews and I think many have missed the true horror of this film. I only realized it after I finished it and then reflected on it a few hours later. This movie is truly chilling. After you watch it and truly reflect on the time you wasted and will never, ever get back... the time you wasted on this senseless poorly developed nonsense...the time that could have been spent with your friends, your family, your kids...wasted on this film...that is a genuine type horror many will never experience.

This film is terrible. TERRIBLE! Worst thing to come out of UK and I am including Brexit. It is hard to sit through. Its toothless and has nothing scary. Not even jump scares. It has no message. Nothing to say. Who ever wrote this surely is not Catholic. I doubt they have ever even read a bible with these religious inaccuracies. So much incorrect here it would be funny it is wasn't so pathetic. If you manage to make it through this dumpster fire, you should get a medal.

Engaging Supernatural Drama
nuttynorman26 June 2016
The original and engaging story line coupled with intelligent dialogue and will leave you wanting to see more from first time award winning Director Clement Ofoedu. The raw naturalness of the characters are superbly portrayed as you are drawn into a tale of good v evil spanning 3 decades. Outstanding performances by Duncan Marshall, Leah Cooper, Amy Lucas, Michelle Coverly and Tony Honickberg enhanced by an injection of humour and i-candy from Carl Leroy, Shane Lynch & Ben Ofoedu complete the picture. An intriguing film with a good plot and a must watch for all supernatural fans .... The vision of the dark devil with the blunt fringe will continue to haunt me. 10/10 entertainment value😀

Another lazy film
RobbyIsBack16 October 2016
Warning: Spoilers
The film had no originality or substance and it is hands down one of the most laziest films I have ever seen. The story was slapped together and I am not even sure Lucifer Valentine, Renny Harlin, Uwe boll Or Tyler Perry could put less effort and thought into creating a movie than this director. As executed, this movie could be a strong contender for the worst movie in the world award if not the undisputed winner. What is most frustrating is this concept has been done before and has proved to be very compelling yet when put in the hands of inept director and writer the premise/concept of the film became a blatant rip off of almost every single religious horror movie ever created. If you must watch this atrocious film do so on YouTube. The director clearly put little effort into creating this movie so you should not waste your money on it. Hope the director didn't quit his day job.

A different exploration of evil
niyiakin3 August 2016
I particularly liked this film and wanted to wait a few weeks before reviewing it in order to see if the first impression persisted.

It was actually refreshing to see a film set on the streets of the normal East End of London that common folk walk along, rather than the super stylised gritty sets of some films or the downright dark melancholy of others. Add to that the authentic accents heard on the streets every day, spoken by actors who look like the people one might see on a day to day basis suddenly leaves one thinking this paranormal film looks like something any of us might experience. It also came out in the week of the British Brexit vote so it was politically exciting to see how it celebrated the diversity of the melting pot that is the current East London. I liked how the actors played the roles of people who exist in their own right and were not cast to reflect the stereotypes normally doled out by those who have probably never spent any quality time in the East End. Even the main 'heroine' was allowed to be someone who deviated from the normal self-absorbed southern stereotype. The engaging northern intellectual worked brilliantly and showed the film dares to break from the shrink wrapped norm.

You can see the depth of thought the director has put into the film when one notices some of the little things seemingly slipped in. I'll try to avoid spoilers but for example a significant number of the students in the paranormal lecture seemed to write using the sinister side. Who would have thought of that? Also there is the subtle but hilarious moment when the priest gently explains to the hipster why evil might not need to choose him and so on. Even social services and public servants do not escape the director's acerbic examination.

The director goes on to imprint some subliminal messages about the concept of young people being followers and how supremely gormless it looks. He then does a competent job of exploring the concept of eternal evil by portraying a malign force that has no concept of time and perhaps is, in a quasi-McCarthyist manner, quite possibly everywhere. He showed a demonic force that exhibits a staggering indifference to urgency or even winning or losing. In essence the actress who played the Attachment and the director gave us food for thought about the inexorable and seemingly miserable nature of being an eternal malignant spirit that had to eventually get its harvest at some point even if it had to wait many human generations. This was a very thoughtful anthropomorphistic portrayal of a lonely force dwelling outside of our space time continuum.

There were lots of subtle and humorous nods to other film concepts, you could if you want to tick off all of the other films and then debate over it afterwards. Also there are little quirks that kept the film looking authentically indie. On the budget it was made this is a gem. The task for the director is not to lose his originality and innocence in future films.

I thoroughly enjoyed the film. It leaves one wanting to watch it again as you suspect there are so many messages that might have been missed. The fun bits in the film leave one having to work out whether one is on edge or actually becoming comfortable with the possibility of demonic forces.

Hmmm! An Indie director has made a film that might leave the watchers comfortable with the possibility of demonic attachment - now isn't that a frightening thought?

It's an OK story for low budget
spoken23 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I gave this six stars because it was watchable and had some things I liked. It lost four stars for the things I didn't like. I've been around for 60 years and I've seen a few stinkers I wouldn't finish. As an Amazon Prime customer I get to hit the back button and make another selection without additional cost other than a shrug and a grimace. So here are a few things off the top of my head.

I found the story coherent except for one place when the time-line shifted and I wasn't sure of a character's identity due to extreme hair and makeup changes. I thought the Callum character was believable and memorable. I can't remember the others' names.

Yes, the graphics were, in general, awful for the times, but that would be a money issue rather than something with which to condemn the finished product. I did like the orbs. Orbs are cool.

Yes, some of the acting made me cringe inside, but I expected that going in. And in a few spots I wondered why something was written and/or directed in a certain way, but I expected that, too.

If there's one thing I've learned since joining IMDb, it's that money and time usually affect the outcome, and not in a pretty way. Oh, and sometimes a corporate know-it-not will make some stupid demand that ruins the whole thing. I don't know what played out here, though.

In general, you'll choose to give this flick a chance or you won't. If you can do it without spending any money then go for it.

Almost forgot ... I liked the ending that left me with no questions.

Would not recommend it
Drea6414 October 2016
Don't waste your time watching this film. The story is all over the place and the writing is of very poor quality. I know other reviewers hated the acting and I agree none of the actors are Marlon Brando or Meryl Streep but I don't think all of the criticism there is fair. The actors can only do so much with a bad script and poor directing. It was the directors first film and it is my understanding from the comments that he wasn't fully prepared to make this film and it shows in the final product. If you are looking for a movie to entertain you, kill time, or send you home to have nightmares this isn't it. If you want to watch a movie with a bad script and awful directing this is your movie.

Film is horrible and the director and his friends are lying
fuzzyandwuzzy17 October 2016
This film is not at all trash, it is garbage. Trash can be fun, interesting or just flat out entertaining like trash TV. Whereas Garbage is smelly and horrible something you just must throw out because there is nothing useful within the bags. One can't get rid of garbage fast enough and that is this film in a nutshell. I would not recommend this film.

Further, all of the good reviews are from the director and his family pretending to be other people. Before watching the film I thought that the previous reviews were too harsh then I watched the film and wondered why there were so many good reviews and I solved the mystery.

For example the one positive review that was added today Oct 17th 2016 from the user " Xanadu66 in New York" when you click on their profile you see the name they used when registering which is Jenny Mwangura. I did a quick google search and sure enough she isn't in New York she lives in London and is the girlfriend of the director.

This type of cat-fishing and scheming is another reason people will give this film 1 star. It is okay to have friends and family support you but to have them create accounts and pretend to be different people in order to trick people into watching a bad film goes beyond being supportive it is fraud. Not only is it fraud it shows even his girlfriend knows his movie isn't strong enough to stand on it's own so she needs to lie to get people to watch it.

If they put the same amount of effort into making a decent movie rather than creating fake accounts to give this bad film good reviews then maybe it wouldn't be doing so poorly.

SHAME on you Clement Ofoedu. I will never watch another one of your works again. You give independent directors a bad name.

Garbage truck juice
brendalyons-9468517 March 2020
This movie is Garbage truck juice. Does garbage truck juice sound appealing? Sound entertaining? Sound like a good time? No. similarly this film is none of those things either. The only difference is garbage truck juice is rather scary whereas this movies isn't at all. I have seen scarier productions with toy spiders on a string than what this movie managed to produce. The plot of the movie is pointless and extremely boring. The effects were dreadful and the acting was worse than watching paint dry. The only silver lining here is that film company behind this repugnant trash, Black Eagle Films has closed its doors and left film making to those who are actually good at it.

squandered potential
belatalbot-7107617 March 2020
With so many great and decent horror movies to serve as a successful blueprint in the possession/ exorcism horror flick genre, this one massively missed the mark. I am kinda of impressed with its ability to get so much, so wrong. I'm a huge fan of UK Horror films and this was a huge let down. Would not recommend at all.

Exercise evil through love...or not
nogodnomasters22 September 2017
Warning: Spoilers
As a child Abigail was sole survivor of a demonic mass killing which claimed the life of her parents. Abbey (Natalia Marie) does the orphanage scene and makes a lone friend in Laura (Leah Cooper) and writes letters to Callum (Duncan Malcolm). Then we flash to the present as Laura seeks out Callum to go ghost hunting.

The film is based on the fictional writings (or maybe his nonfictional stuff) of ex-Father Mordechi (Tony Honickberg). He loved conspiracy theories and was into exorcism and the Fatima prophecies. The problem with the film is many fold. The acting wasn't that great. The lines were boring. Special effects need to go beyond make-up and a strobe light. The film was way too long. The good news is that if you can sit through it, you can earn another punch on your hacker's card.

Guide: no swearing sex or nudity.

The Attachment: A must watch film.
da53199413 July 2016
Warning: Spoilers
This film is a supernatural film and I was at the private screening and I must say this film is a must watch.

Clement Ofoedu has directed a brilliant film. I especially enjoyed the acting abilities and the characters of Leah cooper and Amy Lucus who played the Lead role 0f Laura Davis: A troubled woman who has been through so much in her life.

Tony Honickberg who played Father John Malachi, starred and narrated this film particular well he takes you on a interesting journey, His journey. of heartache, fear, sadness and best of all relief.

Natalie Marie and Angela Carter have showed great passion in this film with certain scenes of anger and depression.

Michelle Coverley as the Entity is absolutely terrifying and will scare you so enjoy.

This film will make you question yourself and may also make you believe in the supernatural occurrences in life.

You should defiantly watch this film in the future, put it on your to do list. I enjoyed it a lot and I think a huge audience will to.

The movie good, Not that bad at all.
duaneb-6667813 October 2016
I don't normally comment on films, but having seeing the latest reviews and the personal attacks, I couldn't resist. I do not know the film maker/s, but I was involved in films years back. well my x was, I have perhaps some sympathy. I came across the IMDb stuff because I googled the film maker's website and google returned the IMDb result. The latest bunch of 1-star reviews making these comments have obviously not been anywhere near a film set, and probably have no Idea how much work goes into it, or how to put one together. Even the smallest ventures can be a real bitch. Thank god I gave it up. My wife and I watched this film and we were entertained. We knew it was a low budget film, you can tell this as no major studious are in the opening leaders. Yes, it wasn't the best film I've seen, but it was not the worst by a long stretch. It had a good story also, but some of the effects were let down, by the budget if I had to guess. Trust me money in film makes a world of difference. The people who are commenting, objecting the friends of film makers reviewing the films, don't know what they are talking about. This is pretty standard practice, and IMDb know this and do not care, because over time it averages out. We did it back in the day. Most film companies do it; you just don't notice, as many times its organized so it's not so obvious, it's part of your promotion strategy. Anyway it turns out the film was made by a new director and local people in the UK. Apparently it was a personally funded film by the director on a very small budget. After reading the stuff on their film site I have to say they did very well to pull this off. Those personally attacking the director, should produce their own works and show it, otherwise, shut the hell up. Someone said the director should go back to film school. I would say to the director don't listen to these morons. You've pulled of something, and they have not. Enjoy your success, and build upon it. The world is full of haters, always talk but have nothing to show. Same when I was involved. In the industry we had a saying for film "Show, not tell" regarding scripts. I think this is the same thing to these critics. Show us what you have made, please…… I can tell you one thing, most film makers and people involved in film that I know are not as harsh to filmmakers regardless of what level. It's a telling sign in the industry they are outsiders. Anyway, I had to put my two cents in, as the comments were bordering on extreme stupid

Watch paint dry instead
rogeryates-0507925 March 2020
All the good reviews of this films seem to know the director personally. Perhaps he is a decent person. I don't know. Maybe he paid these people to write these dishonest positive reviews. Who knows. What I do know he is a very poor filmmaker. This movie is not worth the film it was recorded on. Anyone saying otherwise is clearly trying to scam you out of your time and or money. It is bland, boring, dry, no storyline, no good plot, no decent acting, laughable special effects, just a dumpster fire of a mess. If you're locked in the house due to the virus and looking for something to watch AVOID THIS MOVIE. You will regret it. The only silver lining I found here is the director and writer Clement Ofoedu closed his company are promised to never make anyone films. So basically he is doing Gods work. Thankful for that.

Very thrilling and spooky, keep your night light on!!
ocrossley24 August 2016
A very impressive first horror film by Clement Ofoedu (a new director/writer on the scene), especially on a low budget. summary: setting in east London and an evil thing is traumatising the lives of individuals all from the same family.

The film has a gripping story line that continues to unravel to more and more chilling depths. Cast is fantastic, they play believable roles that we as people can relate to (this, in my mind is why the film is so compelling). Coverley is a terrifying 'entity', amazing makeup too, as well as great performances from, in particular Leah Cooper (Laura Davies in the film) and Duncan Malcom (Callum Bradshaw). the exorcists are fantastic too.

Well worth a watch!!!

Paranormal suspense with excellent character depth and dialogue
dsk-062211 July 2016
This paranormal suspense thriller, is the first, but not I hope the last, from new feature length film Director, Clem Ofoedu. Filmed on a budget but yet well directed with poignant and solemn yet sensitive settings, this film flows wonderfully, making enjoyable film length viewing. Without giving away too much of the plot, this film provides you with some fantastically rounded characters, each with a back story that twists and turns along with a fantastic dialogue. Unlike many films of this genre, this film is set in an environment that will leave you feeling that its not just the obvious places you should be wary of! With a cameo celebrity appearance and some strong lead characters. this film was an enjoyable watch.

The Attachment: A must-see British Horror Film.
Angela_Carter2 July 2016
The Attachment is a highly enjoyable, must-see supernatural feature film for anyone who is interested to see what great British film making can achieve.

It follows through the three main stages of a young woman, Leah's, life; her childhood, young adolescence and adulthood, and the traumatic circumstances and life challenges she goes through.

As the story unfolds throughout the decades, we soon realise that all is not what it seems, and maybe an paranormal power is affecting her life.

By the quality of the film you would never fully realise that this is technically an independent film. It is made from the blood, sweat and tears of a passionate and dedicated group of cast and crew, of which I was fortunate enough to be a member of.

It is a remarkable reflection of the greatness you can achieve, regardless of the type of budget.

Hopefully you will be able to spot some stars of the future.

Good movie with an intriguing plot line and conclusion
tony-751-2695333 July 2016
I recently saw the completed version of the movie The Attachment. This film was written and directed by Clement Ofoedu and is definitely one to look out for.

Although I act in this film, this is a genuine review.

This movie is about an entity (Michelle Coverley) who is The Attachment. This being, in human shape, attaches itself to people or objects and creates fear. The process through the film is how the various characters lives are linked to each other and jointly to the entity.

It involves a Parapsychologist Callum played by Duncan Malcolm and his relationship with Laura Davis played by Leah Cooper. Laura's past has crossed paths with a childhood friend of Callum, Abigail Morozov, played by Natalia Marie. Abigail's past was a complete horror when her parents were killed. The killer was never found. Was this the work of the Entity?

Callum calls on an old friend Father John Malachi played by Tony Honickberg, to help rid their lives of the Entity.

I found the film to be gripping from the beginning wondering when, where and if the entity is finally removed and hoping that everyone's lives can return to normality, whatever that is.

Great movie not sure what all the bad reviews are about
MandingoTrain17 October 2016
This is a low budget film but it's not so low budget that it makes you cringe as some of the reviews would have you believe and like some indie films I've seen and I can't really understand where all the bad reviews are coming from ? It's not perfect but seriously is it really the worse film you've ever seen? The answer is simply No it isn't. No it's not the sort of film everyone would rave about but what film is we all have different tastes.

I like horror and I like English ghost stories and for me this movie did it cutting across generations and regressing back to the past kept it very interesting.

I liked the fact that the characters were everyday Londoners I like the comedic undertones. I Loved the good v evil elements.

As some have said this is more or a supernatural drama than a horror and I agree, but I liked it, I liked it a lot and being a fan of Shane Lynch from Boyzone made me like it just that tiny bit more!

Yes it's low budget. Yes there is a few poor performances by some actors but I thought the special effects were reasonable for a low budget film and the cinematography was fine the film quality was good, as was the sound, the story line was good and original and kept me intrigued.

I'd recommend watching it and it kept me entertained on a Sunday afternoon. Have given it an 8.

In my view the 1 star reviews are a untruthful, and not sure why ? Watch it and draw your own conclusions.

Great direction producing an atmospheric film
roberttaylor-963421 July 2016
Delighted to be able to see the advanced screening of The Attachment, written and directed by Clement Ofoedu. The film has been professionally developed and filmed on a really tight budget, but that does not in any way impact on the end result. The opening, and by far the strongest sequences in the film, lay out clearly that we were in for a great piece of cinema. It was atmospheric and had a great balance between the innocence of two of the main characters when children playing together then quickly changing to a fight against the supernatural. Yes of course there were parts which were not always as high in quality, but in no way detracted from the overall enjoyment of the film. Clement takes us on a journey through the lives of these characters and how chance meetings intertwine over the years until the final dramatic encounter. The entire cast and crew deserve huge credit for what has been achieved, and again special mention of Clement Ofoedu who without doubt is one to watch in the future.
