In 2021, Takibi Amamori started the Too Many Losing Heroines! light novel series; the series is also known as Makeine. As of the time of writing, seven main volumes and one extra volume have been released.

The series saw an anime adaptation premiere in July 2024, which ended after 12 episodes. At that time, though, a second season was still unconfirmed, but fans of this interesting rom-com can relax.

Namely, the producers of the anime have confirmed that a second season is, indeed, happening and a trailer has been released as well!

Crunchyroll has officially announced the nominees for the ninth annual Crunchyroll Anime Awards, with global fan voting now open through April 14.

This year’s celebration features over 50 series and films from over 35 studios, alongside a star-studded lineup of presenters for the upcoming ceremony.

“The Crunchyroll Anime Awards are one of the most important times of year for fans because we hear directly from them on what anime they love and get to honor the creative community behind that love. Crunchyroll has unveiled the nominees for the 2025 anime awards, celebrating the best in anime television and film produced from October 1, 2023 to December 31, 2024. Dan Da Dan, the breakthrough sensation that became Netflix’s most-streamed anime of 2024, and the critically adored fantasy series Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End were among the top nominees for the 2025 Anime Awards, announced Thursday by Crunchyroll. Frieren led the way with 29 nods, while Dan Da Dan tallied 22 nominations. Those series will compete with Delicious in Dungeon, Kaiju No. 8, Solo Leveling, and The Apothecary Diaries for the top Anime of the Year prize.

Winners will be selected in part by a fan vote; fans can choose their favorites daily at Crunchyroll’s official Anime Awards site through April 14. Shogakukan has officially launched its AI translated manga and light novel app, Novelous, in the United States and Canada on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. Est.

Shogakukan has partnered with AI translation startup Mantra, in which they invested 780 million yen (US$5.1 million) along with three other manga publishers in June last year.

According to the publisher, many light novels have low circulation numbers, making translation and overseas expansion difficult in terms of profitability.

However, by using AI, they aim to translate many works at a low cost, which they say will also serve as a countermeasure against piracy.

In an interview with Nikkei, Shogakukan had said that human translators will meticulously organize details such as the characteristics of characters, the background, and the context – before AI translation process begins.

2024 was another great year for anime. It was filled with original stories, great set pieces, and plenty of interesting characters. Some characters got the limelight they deserved, taking center stage during 2024. Other characters were incredible but didn't get the attention they deserved, doing very well within their respective series but being overshadowed by big shows. Some of the most popular characters were obviously going to be big from the beginning, like Goku's resurgence in Dragon Ball Daima.

The popular anime database and tracker MyAnimeList revealed its most popular anime of 2024. MyAnimeList allows users to add a series to their account to indicate their current watch progress -- while these can include members who plan to watch the series but have not yet, this is generally negligible and can be discarded. Unsurprisingly, Solo Leveling Season 1 was the most popular anime of 2024, leading Demon Slayer: Hashira Training Arc in second by a massive 246k member lead. It led Dandadan in third by 271k. Recently, a major Japanese publication ranked its reader's top 10 picks of the year, which include a myriad of internationally recognized works.

Per Animate Times, several of the highest-voted anime, such as Mashle: Magic and Muscles and My Hero Academia, hail from the iconic Shōnen Jump brand.
