    Wednesday's Child: Part 2

There are several twists in the finale. The dead boy was someone who died of a heroin overdose.

DCI Banks believes that Kyle might have been involved in drug dealing. However whoever is organising it might be using mini cabs or even ice cream vans.

Morton still believes that Kyle's mother is behind it all. Maybe to get money from Kyle's father by way of a ransom. However Morton's thinking might be clouded due to her own tearaway son.

Banks thinks that Kyle's father is not squeaky clean.

The suspect believed to be the kidnapper. He is someone who had a long criminal record but might have turned a corner. Banks thinks that he might even be trying to protect Kyle.

This was a multilayered story. Several suspects, a few with a shady past. Someone who believes that society is falling apart and wants to do something about it.

Things Aren't Always As They Seem

These two episodes show a kind of puzzle to police law enforcement. The people involved and the "victim" are pretty much known, but because of self-protection, details fail to drop. Morton has problems. Her eldest son is getting in trouble with the law. She tries to bond with the missing boy's mother, but she lacks the skills to make that happen. The persons we think of as suspects are much more complicated than originally thought. The conclusion is quite gripping.
