Starting to Reach Its Potential!
tlfirth21 January 2015
Warning: Spoilers
The first series of Hannibal was strong, but it stuck whole-heartedly to a format where every week there was a new case and Will Graham used his incredible mind to think like the murderer/psychopath. Only a couple of episodes succeeded to reach its potential, including, Entree, which finally decided to show Hannibal's true intentions first hand.

What's so good about this series (or so I can see) is its continuation of a single case whilst balancing with the characters' own pathways. Character development has taken centre stage with some wonderfully foreboding exchanges between certain characters such as Hannibal and Dr. Maurier and then Jack and Special Agent Beverly. It's great to finally see the characters make their mark on others and showing off their emotions.

Whilst the series may appear to go too far on the disgusting side in its attempt to either attract gore fans or scare others, the visceral side to its violence is a great background assurance that we're watching a terrifying story where the killer has his own original style.

What this episode did well was balance its investigation with Hannibal's own adventures. The images of him slicing his victim's leg ready for dinner is quite a memorable moment as far as this show goes. It will probably go even further later, but for now, this is shocking enough as we realize that the hunter has now become the hunted in this crime, and only Will Graham suspects Hannibal's hand.

In addition to a great front story, and some stellar performances that don't need praising, the story appears to be moving quickly, with the trial of Will's death sentence coming into light. Cynthia Nixon's brief appearance was enough to assure me she would be a great addition to the cast, with some unwanted secrets soon to come out. In particular, I enjoyed Dr. Maurier's encounter with Will in his cell - there's definitely something else there!

In conclusion, Hannibal is on the steep upward slope, with enough story lines to attack and win. Dr. Lecter, I'm sure, has a great many other secrets to share with us, so I'm quite keen to find out what.

"Hello! I love the work!"

Warning: Spoilers
This episode is by far the most brutal episode of Hannibal yet. The intro of this episode was by the most horrifying of them all. It's horrifying as it shows that the victim of the mural escapes by ripping himself out and in turn ripping his own flesh. What makes it utterly disgusting is the way it was shot up close and how we can see the way the skin rips off the victims. In the end the victim escapes, but not with his life. He instead dies by jumping off a cliff.

Eventually Hannibal kills the artist of the mural and adds him to it, but cuts off his foot. We then get a visual of Hannibal slicing the foot up and making a meal out of it.

However what interested me the most about this episode was Hannibal's psychiatrist Dr. Dru Marier withdrawing from her Client- Patient relationship with him. We can see that Dru is fearing for her life, and views Hannibal as dangerous. This makes us wonder how much she knows about Hannibal considering that it is referenced in the previous season that one of his referred patients tried to kill her. In the end its surprising as she visits Will and tell him that she believes him. This makes us again wonder how much she knows about Hannibal and whether she actually thinks Will was framed.

My favorite part of the episode is when Hannibal finds the killer and he sees his mural and exclaims "Hello! I love the work!" only to kill the murderer, add him to is his own mural and then eat his leg. I love how the writers of Hannibal made something humorous from a morbid situation.

Well I love the work of the Hannibal series so far so I rate this episode 9/10

Hannibal is starting to reach its full potential!

While the first season of Hannibal is very strong, it pretty much completely stuck to the format of will using using his mind to solve murders each episode. This episode though sees Hannibal elevating to true greatness.

The human mural is the most horrific moment in the whole series and that is saying a lot.

Horrorfying art!

The opening scene was really gruesome and hard to watch! This proves how season 2 is no less dark, gory og stomachturning, than season 1!

Hannibal once again gets the best scenes and moments! The scenes with him and the "mural-killer" as well as the ones with De Maurie, was the ones that stood out the clearest, as they capture Hannibal perfectly in my opinion! His intimidating, almost threatening presence, and his unorthodox taste in art qnd details!

Will also gets more to do as he tries to solve the murder, and hopes that Beverly might trust him and suspect Hannibal!

Overall a strong second episode in a season that only gets better!

Intense [8.8/10]

Warning: Spoilers
My Reaction / Review for Hannibal Season 2 Episode 2: Episode 1 was great and I gave it a rating of 8.7/10. This poor guy trying to free his legs was disturbing. And... he died, that sucks. Will thinks that Hannibal is behind all of this but at the same time he says that he needs help from Hannibal, he seems very confused. Hannibal's psychiatrist seems scared of him, what is going on? She called him dangerous, nice. Of course Hannibal wants to continue being Will's therapist, he wants to keep being manipulative. Hannibal using his sense of smell is interesting. Hannibal made a fantastic meal using this guy's leg, just hannibal things. Wow, Hannibal's psychiatrist believes Will? Damn. Overall a really good episode, my rating is 8.8/10.

And I Do Believe, That You Are Dangerous.

So episode 2 begins with one of the new killers' victims on the escape. But killer is there and pursues him. His escape is rudely interrupted by a ROCK!

Graham in his new favorite dunk tank meets with Lecter and Bloom. Graham is openly accusing Lecter of being a killer now, even tho everyone else is currently convinced that Graham is the killer. Well except Bloom. But Lecter has set up Grahams frame up almost seamlessly. It's going to take a Christmas miracle for Graham to weasel out of this one..

+1 Star for the Open sequences of this episode!!! :)

Hannibal he does some great FBI work. He finds that new killer lickity split!!! And then, he invites that killer to dinner.

+1 For Lecter making this dinner!!!

Du Maurier she has an epiphany and tells Crawford that she's cutting her ties with both Lecter and the FBI.

One thing I didn't care for is since Graham is imprisoned in his dunk tank, they bring him pictures of the crime scenes and ask him to use his talents as he would in the field. Some things just don't work the same, from pictures. I didn't like that.

-1 Star for them trying to tell us Graham could do the same thing for crime scenes from pictures instead of going to the actual crime scenes. Hey if he's that good why ever go to the crime scene?? Just sit at home at look at pictures... :)

And Cynthia Nixon joins the show or at least the episode, as Katie Purnell, office of the inspector general. She's investigating Bloom's report that Graham is not the killer, and that Crawford was negligent in charging Graham.

Shame on her for threatening Graham!!!

Du Maurier comes to visit Graham too! Everyone loves Will Graham!!!!! And Gillian obviously loves Will Graham a LOT!!! Haha

Hannibal dons his lovely plastic suit once again, to pay a visit to Dr. Du Maurier, and ....

+1 Star for the end scenes

This episode had a bit of a hiccup, but still a very good one. 7/10
