During production, the title was going to be Scorch, but by the time it was shot, Ruth Negga's performance as Raina impressed the producers so much that they renamed the episode to reference her character.
The character Scorch is actually a mutant in Marvel Comics, but because the X-Men film rights were owned by FOX Studios at the time of production, the character is never identified as a mutant, only slyly alluded to as gifted or special, which are slang terms for mutants in the comics.
