Zac was showing he wanted the girls out of his life by blackmailing Rita.
I'm surprised one of the girls felt guilty for losing Zac's friendship & trust. Selfishness was what made them lose his trust. What Zac did was reasonable. They had their chance to tell him the truth & they blew it.
