Film: "Vidiyum Munn"; Cast: Pooja Umashankar, Malavika Manikuttan, Vinoth Kishan, John Vijay and Amarendran; Director: Balaji K Kumar; Rating: *** - Suspenseful, well executed thriller.
Films on child trafficking usually throw at us startling facts and numbers in an attempt to emotionally hijack us but debutant Balaji K Kumar's "Vidiyum Munn" avoids all such genre cliches and sticks to presenting a well executed thriller that intrigues with suspense from start to finish.
Although inspired from British thriller "London to Brighton", to which the makers have not given due credit, "Vidiyum Munn" stands out as one.

Chennai, Nov 19: Upcoming thriller "Vidiyum Munn" was originally written for Hollywood audiences, says its director Balaji K. Kumar, who then decided to make the film in Tamil because he felt its dynamic subject suits Indian viewers more.
Balaji had previously written and directed an English thriller, titled "9 Lives of Mara", and he has been working in Hollywood for over a decade.
"I wrote the script keeping in mind the Hollywood audience, but later realised it was not intense enough for them. I felt the dynamic subject of 'Vidiyum Munn' will suit Indian audiences more than anybody," Balaji told Ians.
