A Dutch remake of ''The Disappearance of Alice Creed''.
DimitrisPassas-TapTheLine21 February 2019
''Reckless'' (original title: ''Bloedlink'' is the story of the kidnapping of a girl in order to get ransom from her rich father. The synopsis may seem to be very generic and contrived but the direction, tempo and performances make all the difference in this Dutch Remake of an English movie, titled ''The Disappearance of Alice Creed'' (2009). The relationship dynamics between the two abductors and the victim is moving the plot forward and the suspense is ever-present. There are also a lot of plot twists, successfully embedded in the plot, especially one in the middle of the film that changes the viewer's perspective on the story. The performances by all the three actors are convincing and Sarah Chronis is compelling in her portrayal of the victim character, Laura. Furthermore, ''Reckless'' is a rather short-length film, the running time is under 90 minutes, and has a really tight-knot plot with no redundant scenes and dialogue. If you love European crime fiction this is definitely a movie to keep in mind.

Alice Creed is Better
Deanna_K9 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Honestly after watching both versions, The Disappearance of Alice Creed is much better. I have nothing against reading subtitles, in fact I enjoyed listening to the Dutch, but the casting was way off for this one. I thought that all three main characters fit better in the British version. Alice had more personality, Vic was a thug yet we saw his tender side other than an intense kissing scene, and Danny looked like he could be someone's prison bitch as well as Alice's lover. Sorry but other than the submissive eyes Rico never looked like he was all that in it. Also, the flourescent lighting in Alice, compared to the dark rooms of Reckless, made for a more intense interrogation room feel.

Sexy Sarah Chronis
amanda-lu86211 July 2015
Warning: Spoilers
An almost direct copy cat of "The Disappearance of Alice Creed", so no surprises for those who have watched that show. The differences that I can make out: Laura here is chloroformed or drugged unconscious before carried to the bed, unlike Alice. Laura wears normal clothes of a girl--boots, jeans, sweater. Alice wore sexy stripper like slacks, black lingerie and top. Laura only because conscious after her ankles were bound.

Laura was also forced to pee in a bed pan, but the camera angle was different from Alice Creed. Laura's identification of her boyfriend/lover, the love scene, the frantic call, the fight were all presented much better than Alice Creed. In Alice Creed, the ball gag is red, nothing wrong but here the ball gag is black an is almost always on. In Alice Creed, she gets only baked beans. In Bloedlink, Laura gets nice Goulash.

What I fail to understand is after cutting of her clothes and bra and panties, why do they dress her in panties again?

Back to Bloedlink, Sarah Chronis has definitely a sexier body, naked or clothed and presents the best bound and ball gagged girl.

Solid Remake
Mr Nuff4 April 2021
This is essentially a Dutch shot by shot remake of The Disappearance of Alice Creed, with minor differences. So it really comes down to which actors and language you prefer. I prefer the English version.

cliche, boring and bad ending.
Im-SoRRy-ITS-TakEN24 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Started off interesting but ended up screwing itself, cliche scenarios and a horrible ending where everything just falls into the woman lap. even though shes the on that messed up a perfectly good plan, sure she wasn't let in on it but at the point she handed rico back the gun is when she should have realized not to do anything rash, but she does the exact opposite, without even a logical plan or defining moments, it all just randomly falls into her lap at the end.

the two guys were interesting to get to know at least, would've liked a backstory on that. the description i read for this said two ex-cons kidnap a millionaires daughter but their plans go awry when their captive proves more cunning than expected....

i expected this to be a girl escapes and kills her captive type of movie, instead we get her giving up the gun she gained after she heard the plan, plus the situation made her, i guess. then she tells victor about her husband? boyfriends? plan, while knowing that vic is the angry one and wouldn't blink at killing her. whats that going to do beside screw you and your boy over and have vic with it all in the end... good plan, very cunning... only to end up in a situation where both guys die by themselves and she gets the keys to unlock her chains somehow, somehow finds the car rick is dead in with the money and has a happy ending.

i can see few good points about the movie, how she emphasized with the rick afterwards when he was dead.... the twos plan and how paranoid vick was i found realistic.

Very good.

Excellent movie. Superbly acted and tightly paced, the suspense throughout was palpable. It's a pity there are so many non-English language movies out there but most people will probably never watch them. This movie is available in HD on Youtube, uploaded by Thunderscreen. According to the description, it is a licensed upload, so do check it out.

Usually an English Language Remake Follows a Foreign Language Film, Not Vice Versa
NoDakTatum15 October 2023
This Dutch remake of "The Disappearance of Alice Creed" is a nicely paced thriller that falls short of perfect thanks to a few too many false endings and convolutions. Laura (Sarah Chronis) is a real estate tycoon's daughter, kidnapped by the masked Victor (Tygo Gernandt) and Rico (Marwan Kenzari). Victor and Rico have a full-proof plan, and will split the four million Euro ransom. They keep Laura in a small padded room in a decrepit apartment, chaining her to the bed and dealing with her father (who is never seen; this trio is the only cast) with untraceable cell phones. The apartment becomes claustrophobic as the three characters begin manipulating each other, with shocking revelations about how each of them is connected to the other.

I'm afraid I can't share too much more information about the plot because some of the connections are integral to the film. I will say that Lursen does a great job directing, and the editing from Job ter Burg is perfect. The film is small, but Jasper Wolf's cinematography is clear, and I love how harshly he lights Chronis. Technically, the film is marvelous, and ter Burg and Lursen ratchet the suspense up until it is almost unbearable. The gross toilet in the apartment almost deserves a cast credit, considering how important a role it plays to the plot. The locations are cold and overcast. The cast is very good, with Gernandt and Kenzari shining as the criminal pair. Chronis does spend most of the film chained to furniture, but she is still able to convey a strong-willed character even when she doesn't have the ability to speak. All three literally shed their inhibitions and clothing during the film, with one memorable scene between Laura and Rico, but the cast doesn't seem self-conscious. A few too many false endings rear their ugly heads toward the end, and I thought the coincidences were a little far-reaching. Either way, the journey there, and watching the characters try to survive and still get a ton of loot in the process, is both entertaining, as it were, and a little bittersweet. I haven't seen "The Disappearance of Alice Creed," and I probably should. In the meantime, "Reckless" provides some solid thrills. I recommend it.
